So theirs were creaking too?So I’m at Apple and tested out a few phones for the creaking issue when off and all the ones I tested did it.

Yup.So theirs were creaking too?
Yeah they are able to repair and replace. In other words keep going to them until you have a device with no sound issue. That’s what I’m doing.Just to clarify, Genius said they could repair the speaker/hardware? I guess that is good news and bad news..
I am kind of in the camp of knowing I have AppleCare+. I love the phone.. I don’t want to go Android or back to 7 or 6S.
If this was software problem why not have shown up on other devices ?I think the worst thing about this is not knowing if it’s software or hardware. If software I have no problem in waiting for a fix. The problem is if it’s hardware and we are stuck with a phone that is not fit for purpose.
If no fix in a couple of weeks I’ll return mine and cancel my contract. Then wait. I still won’t buy a Android phone
Still, why purchase and deal with this.By myself as I walked in. She said bc it’s crackling outside it’s probably a hardware issue and the ear piece needs replacement. The phone is too new so they aren’t doing repairs yet. Even after 14 they can replace the devise if repairs don’t fix the issue.
Just want to add, Space grey 8+ 64 here running 11.0.1 have the same issues since 9/22. I’ve tried pretty much everything mentioned in this thread and nothing has helped so far. One thing I’ve noticed though is every single time I call my voice mail I hear the crackle and every single time I call UPS I don’t hear it. Even testing back and forth between the two numbers over 10 times since putting on 11.0.1 today. Something is different between these two types of connections causing this on the VM #. I won’t speculate but just wanted to share. Other then the above my 8+ has been solid.
If it's not fixed within 14 days mine is going back - too much money for poor design and build..........if that turns out to be the issue and if they do exchange handsets later, you're into the Apple screen lottery. The 8+ I have is perfect every other way.....grrrrr..........
I hate to be "that guy" but I just got my 8+ in the mail an hour ago and made one phone call - sounded crystal clear. Does this buzzing happen every call? Is there a way to test to see if my 8+ has it?
Well if you don’t wanna deal with it I guess go back to your old devise. And that’s funny. If this phone that’s been established already has this many issues I can only imagine the x.If this was software problem why not have shown up on other devices ?
Since just 8 must be different hardware then other devices. So hardware problem specific to 8 ??

Hope not similar parts or issue with X. 1st gen too. Just release product and deal with carnage. What a mess
How is that sticking it to the man. LolAll you guys need to stick it to the man and return your 8s if they're not perfect and they won't switch you out with a brand new one. Just return it and but a SIM Free version. They have plenty of these in my town.
This reply made no sense. All you guys need to stick it to the man and return your 8s if they're not perfect and they won't switch you out with a brand new one. Just return it and but a SIM Free version. They have plenty of these in my town.
It’s intermittent - call your voicemail and toggle the speaker off and on. Sounds like rice crispies popping!
On 9/23 I hard reset and it seemed fine for the last couple days. Then started doing it again today. Tried another hard reset today and had no luck.I have to be lucky then. I can't get it to crackle or anything - switched back and forth at least 5 times.
Cool. Thanks for your help.
Hope Apple resolves this for the rest of ya'll quickly.
Let's not be overly dramatic about this. It isn't a "huge" problem. It's annoying but it isn't the end of the world. My phone suffers from the popping but it isn't rendering the device useless. I am anxious for a fix but let's not be overly dramatic. This is pathetic...I was really hoping that the 11.0.1 would fix this huge problem.
Tried that on 9/23, was told they wouldn’t have stock of the plus in for a week or two (Verizon). They could warranty me one and I’d have it in 5 days but after reading so many people have had there replacements with the same problem it seems like a waste of time until Apple acknowledges the problem. If we still don’t have a solution by my 14 days I’ll just return and go back to the 6.All you guys need to stick it to the man and return your 8s if they're not perfect and they won't switch you out with a brand new one. Just return it and but a SIM Free version. They have plenty of these in my town.
I posted the same thing. Then had 10 min call in quiet environment.I hate to be "that guy" but I just got my 8+ in the mail an hour ago and made one phone call - sounded crystal clear. Does this buzzing happen every call? Is there a way to test to see if my 8+ has it?
Just did a second call, other than normal cellular background noise, didn't notice anything big.
I’m in Australia too! I’m with you!Users Down under in Australia reporting it as well. I’m one of them! It is definitely a widespread issue with these new 8’s.

Recent spokesperson statement: "Apple said in a statement that the issue only comes up in a “small number” of cases and that the company is working on a software update to fix the problem. “We are aware of the issue which is affecting customers in a small number of cases,” an Apple spokesperson said. “Our team is at work on a fix, which will be included in an upcoming software release.”"
Awesome!! Thank youLatest update - Apple are working on a fix which will be rolled out as a software update... would have helped if it could have been today's software update but there we have it... https://www.theverge.com/circuitbre.../iphone-8-crackling-apple-confirms-fix-coming
