We told you. . you can use GPU-Z to dump your original rom.

Dumping your rom is the VERY FIRST STEP.

I have a Sapphire Dual-X HD 7970 which is the same as the R9 280 X . . my DVI port works.

hello sir, thank you for your message, but you were talking about the thing doesn't concern my question nor my problem, i did the dumping my cards' own rom from the beginning, and i always did flash with these roms, my problem is even though, the up dvi still dead in mac and pc, i dont have 7970 but i've tried my 280X 7950, non of them has the up dvi works, i've tried to flash the rom2 but always has errors while flashing, but when i start to flash the rom1 for mac efi, the error disappeared and flash like normal as the picture given by member here, but still dont have last dvi work, i was trying to find the raison and a solution to it. and people here said that because i have double roms on my card, but every 280x has double roms right, so what i need to do? maybe i need to find the old topic which has a solution on it, but i've cherchered for days, nothing useful found for now, can you help please? thank you

hello my friend please see #628, i said your rom works only on gigabyte 280X with one dvi one HDMI and two minidp, not for other model, and when i said that because i've tried already your rom, i get nothing on my card, my mac entered to restart cycle and four languages message, you know too that 280x has many different models, specially with ports format different: dvi x2 + hdmi+dp; dvi x1 +hdmi+dp+minidp x2; dvi x1 + hdmi+ dp x1, dvi x1+hdmi+ mini dp x2... i believe yours is the last one, and since the protocols are different from different models, your rom can't work on another fabricant, and we still need to find the old topic which talked about how to activate the up dvi, after flashed their own pc rom, it should be working and no risque, but thank you so much for your reply and share your work, it's the spirit or open forum: to help each other when needs

@ddjanic: Thanks for the files. Would be great if you could update #629 to really emphasize on only dumping the legacy rom and flashing the rom in legacy state. (Bios Switch to the right) Flashing the UEFI Part of the rom does not really work. At least for me.

@parisinvest :
The 280xrom and 280xheaders should work on every card thats using the reference layout. (1x DVI, 1x HDMI, 2x mDP)
The routing problem is as old as the NETKAS thread. You have the best chance of a successful flash if you have a card thats not from XFX and is using the reference design.

See this thread on NETKAS for further infos about port mapping

thank you for your explain, but as i have sapphire 280 280X 7970 7950, twin, trix, oc, vapor, with one or two mini dp, i started with one card, it did not work, i bought the second one, did not work, and i bought third on to see if it's not he model makes difference, niete! now i have 5 different models from sapphire which all has 2 dvi, i can tell you every detail of my tests, and indeed i followed ddjanic method, and i flashed the 2nd rom for first tests, then i passed to 1st rom and flashed the original rom with efi with same reference, but since sapphires' 280 and 7XXX series has only model of two dvi, non of them would has the up dvi port works, there is no errors while the flash procedure after changed to 1st rom position, i'm looking for one successful flash model with two dvi worked. it may save all my cards

Spend days looking for the right EFI BIOS for my Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X 3GB card. Pressed the button (LED off), saved the original BIOS, added the EFI headers with the script, flashed the new BIOS but still no boot screen when starting up my Mac Pro.

Does anyone have a working Mac BIOS for my card ?

Thank you! It's the dual fan version, all black and grey. See pics. The ROM (one with button pressed, other off) are included too, cheers!

Hi,
today I had a "stupid" idea...
I flashed a XFX R9 280X with HIS HD 7950 modded ROM to get bootscreen.
Flashed in Dos mode with atiflash 4.11 with -fs -fp

The matter fact is that it works!! except 2nd DVI port.
I ran some tests with Cinebench and Basemark web and it all seems to work nice.

However MacOS repports this card as HD 7950 914567869 Mb RAM!!

Does anyone knows how to correct this?

THX

it seems your rom has probleme, could your vérigy it and redo the rom with the lastest gpu-z ?
use pc to do download this:
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-gpu-z/

GPU-Z 14 keeps crashing on my HP machine. The rom has been extracted with GPU-Z 12.

I bought this used card for cheap so it might also be that the bios has been already tweaked.

Don’t waste your time on this, I’ll try on my own with the new bundle. It appears I was using a bundle containing only the scripts for the 7950. I’ll get my hands back on that this weekend.

All 7xxx / R9 2xx card use the same script. I don't think you can find another one.

I just open the ROM have a quick look. It seems like the original UEFI ROM for your card. You should able to replace the UEFI part by the Mac EFI. Simply cut and paste, nothing extra required.

Can xfx 280x support Mac EBC?

very difficult or different way from normal, xfx has different seal methods and its' own tech, on nvidia and amd so very difficult to do a normal flash, personally, I've losted enough time on them, i know these are good cards but i wont recommand to do flash with, because you have the other 90% cards are normal to flash. btw you have more explications on netkas forum, you can still follow to try if you like

hi,

This is for XFX R280X

ok, so after having a look at netkas threads, I finally got it working except it's still recognized as 7950 but honestly I don't care.

+ Memory size correctly reported
+ bootscreen ok

- still reported as HD7950
- one of the two DVI ports is not working (red upper port)
- it seems there is quite a few versions (v1, 2 and 3) of this card which makes it tricky to find a working rom.

Hey there, i don't know if this is off topic here, but i have a serious problem:

i have a flashed VTX3D R9-280X 3GB 2DHEV2.
I have Bootscreen, correct systeminfo and everything working correct in macOS.

BUT: if i boot to Bootcamp with W10 (installed in EFI Mode) i cannot install any GPU driver, if i attempt to do so, i get a black screen immediately and eventually a bluescreen as the mac is rebooting after a few seconds.
If i start up in windows recovery mode and uninstall all drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller, i can get back to windows with the standard drivers.

Has anyone encountered the same problems? Does anyone know a fix for that?

System Info:
MP5,1 2012, OSX 10.14.1, Bootcamp with W10 1803 EFI installed on separate SSD.

Thanks all.

You need to switch to your UEFI mode when in windows or switch to a bootcamp / legacy bios install.

It’s recommended you switch to bootcamp / legacy bios anyways, because EFI installs of Windows mess up your bootrom over time (probably during installs and updates).

This is a known issue. Either boot from non Mac EFI ROM. Or install Windows in legacy mode.

If you messed with the vbios then look at this workaround.

...hmm -> not to say that i dont believe you but i think that is weird because i use another MP51 with a MVC flashed GTX1070, and there is no issue with running windows 10 in efi mode -> evreything works as it should -> also the r9 280x with mac efi is working perfectly until i install a driver. then it locks up... so what? driver problem? gpu efi problem?

I Think there must be another problem.. Any ideas?

If your video card turns the screen off ( black screen) when you install the driver on a card with modified vbios the Windows might be blocking it due to unsigned vbios detection . As I mentioned in my previous post there is a workaround which I linked.
