I think a lot of that is due to animations on the Mac side, which can be disabled. I personally don't really notice a difference on either OS speed-wise.I still get that sense of "this is so much faster than any of my Macs" when using my PC. Of course, many of the doubters will say, ah, yes, but you are using a custom PC with 32GB RAM, RTX 3060 and so on vs a 16GB Mac with weaker GPU. But my Studio has the M2 Max with 12-core CPU, 30-core GPU, 32GB RAM and still very obviously (to me) slower than my PC running Windows 11.
As I have said before, MacOS is not slow; it is just noticeably slower than my PC. Anyone who uses a Mac really isn't missing anything, but some need to stop insisting that it can't be true.
Are you talking about general OS/task speed or specific things being faster?
But isn’t that the problem Apple created? They constantly oversell how potent their cpu/gpu is. Put up against middle to high end GPUs it fails to hold its groundMac with weaker GPU.
So right...some need to stop insisting that it can't be true
It can also tend to be outdated in a lot of cases. Like people will make complaints about Windows that were solved in Windows 10. But when they were using Windows 8, it was an issue. So right...
Many Apple custmers have a very biased view of the world outside their walled garden.
Yep. A member was slamming Libre Office for not handling things but he admitted he hasn’t touch it in 7 or 8 yearsIt can also tend to be outdated in a lot of cases
To be fair, I have seen Windows people do this with Macs. Talk about how slow and hot they are, so I inquire further and they are talking pre M1.Yep. A member was slamming Libre Office for not handling things but he admitted he hasn’t touch it in 7 or 8 years
No question. Ifs just human natureTo be fair, I have seen Windows people do this
Windows feels snappy, mac feels smooth
LOL. I just think about the thousands of iMacs sold with fusion drives that are panting using an APFS which fragment them to death.Talk about how slow and hot they are, so I inquire further and they are talking pre M1.
I’m lucky I’m using a Mac for windows and running windows natively. So it’s easy to see how well it runs or doesn’t. No virtual desktop software getting in the way - so it’s a valid comparison.still get that sense of "this is so much faster than any of my Macs" when using my PC.
Another difference: external exFAT drives are fast and reliable. One difference- in windows my NVME drives don’t continuously drop out like they do in Sonoma
I think I’ve reached the utopia setup. Many have suggested it over the years, but I’ve resisted. I love my Mac setup for work and personal computing, but it lacks in 1 area. Gaming.
I have literally done the same thing. Mac for everything but gaming. Have an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 RTX 4060 for gaming.Update time.

So I’ve done the unthinkable and I’m building another gaming PC. However, this will live on a new desk and be purely for gaming. The Mac setup will stay as is.
I have finally reached the PC and Mac promise land.
Been doing that for the past year MacBook Air and my Rtx 4080 gaming desktop. Best of both worldsUpdate time.
