Checked your video. What I saw in the video is perfectly acceptable for me. Don't know how often you get the occasional stutter. But my experience with iso9 hasn't been that great. I've rolled back to 8.4.1 and will OTA next week when it officially releases. Hoping for the best.

If it the GM didn't work well for you, then the release next week won't either, as it is the same download.

Most of these guys are using 9.1 and not the GM. They also haven’t installed in DFU mode. Beta’s aren’t for the basic user, which these people seem to be. Most people here that are devs or beta testers KNOW that lag in a new OS release can be fixed with a CLEAN DFU install or by several reboots. This is the norm around here. They need to understand that just because they may be experiencing lag doesn’t mean that EVERYONE is experiencing lag.

You never know. I went from 8.4.1 with a iTunes update to iOS 9 gm from a torrent to OTA iOS 9.1 pb. This time it will be 8.4.1 OTA to 9.0 gm.

Don't go in expecting much different, not saying this to be mean but just don't want you to get your hopes up.

Here are some things I tried.

I tried updating from a fresh install of 8.4.1 (no backup) and still saw the same lags

I tried waiting a while until the iPhone was done "indexing" (even though a fresh install of 8.4.1 is fast from the beginning)

I tried doing a DFU restore to 9.0 GM with no backup and still saw the same lagging.

I also don't use any third party apps (yeah, I know I'm weird... I just don't like cluttering up my phone when almost anything can be done though safari) so you can't blame it on third party software. This is ALL Apple, guys.

I also turn off background refresh, and Siri suggestions. I also don't use handoff. I also never keep any safari tabs open unless I'm using safari.

One piece of advice: make sure you have the battery saving option disabled. It makes the phone much slower

And I suppose my question is, has anyone here experienced a real improvement after restoring their iPhone 6 Plus as new with the GM? I'm not a stranger to restoring devices as new (I did it with iOS 8 because of an unrelated issue), but honestly, I'd really rather avoid it because I don't quite have the energy to deal with a clean restore again this quickly and with the Apple Watch you're essentially then required to restore TWO devices as new and it's kind of a headache. I know those are all first world concerns, hahah. I just feel like I'd rather wait for 9.1 or a future update to fix the issues.
Keep in mind the alternative that works just as well most of the time (unless there is major problem) is the reset all settings. That allows for you to update AND restore old backup of your data but gets the iOS back to its defaults for THAT particular version. Seems to work wonders for folks with various issues after an upgrade. Definitely a good alternative to a clean install when there are various issues (ie like battery life or heat or usage and std by the same etc). Of course you do have to add your wallpaper and any wifi networks back and run through the settings to get them back like you want them.

Battery life?

That's my biggest concern above lag and everything else.

Quite good for a first release. It carries through the day. Same as 8.4.1.

Yesterday I disabled WhatsApp and Facebook "background refresh" as well as "Spotlight search". I also disabled Siri as it is a worthless gimmick. That's why I am already noticing subtle improvements in performance and battery.

Shame it will never reach the greatness of 8.2 battery levels!

The GM for me is better than the betas (iPhone 5S). For once my battery isn't being drained so quick. I did roll back to 8.4.1 for a little while then upgraded to iOS9 GM. However, there is a fraction of lag in some cases, it is noticeable to me, but not going to stop using it. As always I think Apple will do some more optimisation with later releases.

Meh. Can't be worse than iPhone 4 with iOS 7.

That being said, I'll keep iOS 8.4.1 for now, and see how iOS 9 goes. For now, I've seen posts about iOS 9 BOTH improving and degrading performance/battery on 5S. However, the general consensus seems to lean toward worse performance/battery...

I'm actually surprised some people are experiencing lags and glitches on iOS 9. I didn't follow everything on the new iOS 9, but weren't the betas very well-received....? There were many posts about iOS 9 betas running better than iOS 8. What happened?

They were running great for betas. People here expected major improvements for the GM.

Don't bother with restoring and setting up as new. It won't fix your 6 Plus. Unfortunately, 6 Plus simply isn't powerful enough to run smoothly all the time. Apple should have given it a 6-core GPU and 2 GB of RAM to offset for a significantly higher resolution display and downscaling. They were too cheap to do it...

This is false on SOO many levels. I’ve got 3 16gb 6 plus’s running as smooth as Dave Chappelle’s balls since DP3. My personal 64gb 6+ ran like crap until DP3. Like I said before. There’s a small percentile of people who have phones NOT running smoothly. I’ve been at this game long enough to know that there are TONS of other factors as to why your device might not be running 100%. I HUGE reason is the fact that you’re not running apps that are optimized for the new update.

Exactly. The betas were stable, but I did notice animation lags (and I reported it), but whenever anyone complained about a little lag here and there, people just said "Well, it's a beta… it will be optimized before release. Plus, there's debug stuff running in the background that only gets disabled in the GM, so the GM will perform better"

Well, here's the GM and it's the same as PB3 (to me).

System-wide metal was supposed to make animations smoother, but it actually did the opposite. I'm disappointed that they advertised performance improvements, but actually made it perform worse than 8.4.1.

The other thing that I've noticed (and others have pointed out) is that now you have to wait for the entire home screen animation to end (when hitting the home button) before you can tap on another icon, but in 8.4.1, you could tap an icon while the app was still closing and it would open immediately.

So not all of Apple's apps are optimized for the new update? I don't run ANY third party apps at all. Other than music and photos, my iPhone is pretty much stock. I even shut off background app refresh and Siri recommendations.

iPhone 6+ 64GB user here. iOS 9 is laggy. Reason is in my opinion is the 1GB of ram on a not fully optimized OS and apps that need to be updated for it.

I can't really think of any reason why Apple uses less ram than it should except to force users to upgrade. I mean think of it, the iPhone line is only a couple of phones. If they released them with 3GB of Ram on optimized OSes with great battery life, why would you ever upgrade?

so i did a fresh install of iOS 9, on my factory reset iPhone 6 plus,
theres 80% less lag then the first time i installed it on my iPhone, with all my stuff on it.
but you shouldn't have to remove all your stuff, to have you iPhone run smooth.
by far I'm enjoying iOS 9, with a few lags.

I always used to scoff at my wife for never updating her software on her iPhone 5 but now I know better! She still has it as a backup phone. I miss my black iPhone 5 on iOS 6. That was the best smoothest iOS experience. It was ahead of its time with ram and power. My iPhone 6 on 8.4.1 feels very similar in load times as my 5 on iOS 6 except I can't keep nearly as many apps backgrounded. I think an iPhone 6 on 8.4.1 will be nearly identical to doing basic tasks like web browsing and opening messages as the 6S on iOS 9. I'm really believing the planned obsolescence theory more and more. It's weird but when I put my wife's iPhone 5 (running the last iOS 6 I think 6.1.4) and my 6 on 8.4.1 side by side and load up yahoo or cnn in safari they are neck and neck and sometimes the iPhone 5 is faster. I mean how can they make fast faster?!? I think it's by slowing down the old devices little by little with each update. I'll be keeping my 6 on 8.4.1 till I upgrade to the iPhone 7 next year. :)
