What kind of gumby would pay hundreds more for the 3.06 when there is almost no difference in the performance

I tell you what slick, there are lots of us out there wanting the very best and top of the line and not having to worry about upgrading for a while. That is why we bought the 3.06 & HD4850 with a 1 TB HD to boot and not just a measly 640 GB HD and 2.93 GHz. Oh and one more thing, We just love to spend our Money On Macs!!!

my order has changed to 'prepared for shipment' overnight. looking back at those who've already shipped this seems to be the precursor for an imminent dispatch...
Shipping and delivery havent changed though. Still April 21st - April 30th.
its the 3.06, ATI 4850 and numeric keyboard are my only BTO options.
ordered March 9th in the UK. Last time i ordered my macbook it came from China so i'm assuming the same for the imac.
Looking forward to seeing some benchmarks from those who receive theirs early!

I have the same on order plus a Mac Book Pro and I would not advise you do this, My Brother laughed at me as I ordered in back in March and he placed his order last night thinking he would get it before me i.e this month. His order status is

Same here! I ordered this desk from ikea and built it this past weekend. Luckily there are doors I can close as to not see the empty gap staring me in the face. I can just picture how beautiful she will look in there.

Wow, a lot more 3.06 configurations than I was expecting. I kinda thought the 1 TB of storage was a bit of over kill for the extra cash.
May be today, but not tomorrow.....
I can officially confirm that my iMac 3.06 (US) is not yet shipping.
I still have not seen any US shipments of the 3.06. May be on a slow boat from China to California....
i don't get why ppl are making such a big deal about a lil bit of extra money... its like a couple hundred more... that's nothing when u are already spending 2000+..... i don't get why anyone wouldn't spend the lil extra. tisk tisk!!
Mine already left Cologne (Were it went through the customs), deliver still on Tuesday though.
Why does UPS don't deliver on Saturdays...
Well, I won't make a big deal out of it, but I didn't bother with the larger drive and piddling processor difference because the cost is simply not worth it, at all, so I don't need tsk'd. With the money saved I can buy a new set of 5.1 speakers. 1TB external drives are like $115. With the money saved a person could buy two of those and still have cash leftover for a nice evening out. Heck, considering how Time Machine works, that's the better plan anyway.
I love Apple stuff. My new iMac will nicely compliment my new MacBook Pro 15". But I am not made out of money, and I can find a lot better things to do with $300.
That said, if people want to spend the cash, and have it to spend, and find value in it all, then more power to them.
