Once i get this the wait just continues... i upgraded the graphics card so i can play Starcraft II!

But who KNOWS when that will come out.

Let's hope you get yours soon... I assume you are in Philadelphia so that would mean US shipping....

This thread is fast closing in on the "I ordered an iMac" thread in number of posts. I guess quite a few people did go with the 4850!

I need some opinions, regarding my iMac order with my 4850 option. I know that I got a delay because of the 4850 option but I also ordered the Bento 2 software pre-installed. Should I have just bought that later and not have them install it, as it might slow down the delivery by 1 more day or longer.

Also 2nd question, how do they install software like this on a brand new iMac without having to set up the iMac first and they don't know the username I want to use etc...etc... What do you think? Any ideas or suggestions?

They just clone the hd in a large rack maybe 20 at a time from a master drive. then when you first boot you set it up

So that we understand, your original shipping estimate was 23rd April and now states that it is prepared to ship? And you found that out today?

Yes my original shipping estimate was 23rd April

Yes I found out today. My status must have changed to 'Prepared for Shipment' within the last hour as i check regularly.

Are you in UK? or USA or Canada? Maybe that is the reason.

By Apple doing this, would this cause any delay of shipment of my iMac?

I would think it the delay would be nominal. Possibly a day delay. But I doubt even that, with this long of a delay already, they probably have already cloned your HD, and have it ready to go.

Well, doesn't seem that odd to me.
I ordered on March 5th, still nothing changes here.
AFAIK, so far no one in US or Canada receives any shipping notice yet.
If you're also in North America, then it's normal. :(

Getting slightly irritated now. I an seeing more and more ppl saying theirs have shipped having ordered in mid march, I ordered on the 4th and when I rang apple today they were happy to assure me it was still going to ship according to schedule on the 15th. They knew nothing about some having already shipped! So they thought it was fine and were assuring me there would be no unexpected delays. What I want to know is why hasn't it been shipped yet considering the early order date!
Agh! Am going to ring again tomorrow if the status doesn't change tonight.

This Thread is getting rather large. So if you would please reply and quote this message if your iMac has "prepared for shipment" or "Has Shipped" only if you are in the USA and ordered a 3.06 GHz with 4850 Video.

Reason I am asking is I am trying to figure out if any USA orders have shipped that are with the 3.06 GHz and 4850 option.

Hey WizardHunt, you scared everyone away.... Now you will never find out until you get the email... When I last talked to :apple: yesterday they assured me, incorrectly I might mention, that shipment would go according to the day and time ordered. We know that is not the case and that they are not yet shipping to US or CANADA. I suspect it is a supply problem in that they are shipping from US and we know they do not manufacture in US. I gather it will take some time to get the product to the US and then out to those of us waiting patiently..... Hang in there...:D

Not from Apple if I recall your ranting on another post. The discussion here is when is Apple going to ship orders that were placed from the Apple Store, and not second party stores like Westworld, to the US and Canada.

I don't know how many times others have been saying this, but since you ordered from a second/third party, Apple might ship to them directly from China, as opposed to those of us who ordered directly from Apple Store will get our shipment from US. That's speculation though, because we have yet to see anyone in US or Canada receives any shipping notice nor order status is changed. It leads us to believe this is the case.

Yes, we know your iMac is shipping directly from China, at least that's what the store manager told you. However, it doesn't help us that much. We're happy for you, just that we're eager to know where our iMacs are, your case doesn't tell us much.

oh ok i guess if thats how u look at it... lol still the store i ordered from buys directly from the apple site. so i look at it as still being from apple... when u go there to buy the computer they open the apple online store and buy the computer throught their company so the only difference is it gets shipped to the store instead of my house... btw

By the way this is the first time u mentioned that u only wanted to know from ppl who directly placed orders from apple. so maybe be more clear on who u are asking next time... the posts asking about this seemed to be a general question to everyone or anyone.

That's weird. I remember you mentioned somewhere that they need to use some kind of store number in order to track order from Apple. That's why they won't give you the tracking number now until next week. The store you're ordering might use intranet to have a website looks exactly like Apple's, but actually you don't order on Apple store directly. The store will have to put an order through a special way which is exclusive to second/third party. I really don't think the way you're describing would be profitable for the stores. Unless you paid a lot more to them which doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, if they bought directly from apple as a normal customer, they would have to charge you more than the prices that Apple charges, which then would make almost all of their customers just buy straight from Apple instead. There doesn't really seem to be any profit in doing that.
