Holiday? There is no holiday here in the USA today or tomorrow. However UPS and Federal Express usually does work on most holidays I know.
gasport, can you c&p your specs? I searched the first two pages for it, but I'm too lazy to search all 19.
oh LOL I figured most ppl got Friday off didn't realize it was a Canadian thing LOL oh well!!
Gasport..when did your credit card get authorized again for your purchase?? I stated before that the money was just removed from my credit card today by apple. I am still showing "Not Yet Shipped" with a ship date of April 17 and deliver of April 20...I am curious if your card was charged recently? So yours is shipping three days ahead of time?? Do you have tracking yet?
Here is another data point: I live in Massachusetts USA and I ordered an iMac with the 4850 option on 3 March (about 10:00AM local). I received email from apple this evening saying it has shipped. The FedEx tracking number indicates the package is in Union City, CA. Here are details of my configuration:
IMAC 24"/SD

I paid for the overnight delivery. FedEx says it should arrive by 3:00PM on 10 April (tomorrow as I write this).
I do not have a Windows license or software, and do not plan to acquire same. My performance test will be running World of Warcraft, and Nik Software's Capture NX (image-editing for Nikon Electronic Format files).
I did not check the credit card and yes they did give me a tracking number. Shipping via FedEx.

EXACTLY what I got.
can I ask when you received the email from apple? the exact time... cause I want to use that time to predict when I'll get mine and then post it for informative purposes.
That though process is what is driving me to the 2.93 with ATI card. At first it was a refurb 2.8 then I was like, what's $400 more for the 2.93. Then it was oh what's another $40 for iWorks, and what's another $135 for the ATI, then POW I'm spending 40% more than I origionally was. So yes another $200 is pushing it. Ah well maybe I'll buck up and get the 3.0i don't get why ppl are making such a big deal about a lil bit of extra money... its like a couple hundred more... that's nothing when u are already spending 2000+..... i don't get why anyone wouldn't spend the lil extra. tisk tisk!!
Oh, trust me, I have it worse on my 1.33 mhz PowerBook G4... takes me 5 minutes to do a victory lap around the square, 9fps in 5 man, 5fps in 10man, and 3fps in 25 man. it's so unbearable, ugh.I received my shipment-notice email from Apple at 6:05PM local (Eastern US).
Regarding the order status, I never saw it say "prepared for shipment" (or words to that effect). I checked it around noon today and at that point it still said "not shipped." I did not check the order status again until about 10:00PM tonight after noticing the email from Apple telling me that the order had shipped. I have not been monitoring my credit-card activity over the last couple of days, so I do not know what sort of transactions have been originating via Apple.
Regarding a performance test with WoW in Dalaran at full-max settings (on Aggramar, which is an original full-population realm), I suspect the results will be not super in absolute terms. But relative to my current rig, it's going to be heaven! (With iMac G5 1.8GHz 1MB RAM, it averages perhaps 0.3 FPS at all-min settings. Best case it's 3-4 FPS for brief periods but there are near-constant pauses of 2-5 seconds.)

so far:
2 people who ordered at ~7am PDT on March 3, aka announcement day are getting their imac on the afternoon of April 10.
1 person (me) ordered at 6:51pm PDT on March 3 and am likely getting my iMac on April 11.
If I get home from work tomorrow and don't see that lovely email/shipping update, I wonder if I should give Apple a call and ask them why my iMac-bought-on-announce-day hasn't been sent yet when others' have, even though I did order 12 hours later?
