For those who ordered the ATI 4850....

Big Trouble in Little Singapore

At least most of you guys have tentative shipping dates and delivery date. I can't even get that out of Singapore.

I ordered mine on 4th March and last weekend they told me it'll roughly be another 3-4 weeks. When asked for a specific date, they couldn't say!

Ho hum, downgrade and miss out? cancel order and put it in again once shipments start? forget about buying my first ever Mac and just upgrade my 8 year old Dell desktop and a newer Dell desktop?

So many choices while i wait on my a$% for the iMacs to start shipping!!

Be patient it will be soon..... As for the Dell, forget it......Although you will get so much more on the new Dell than the old one and pay a lot less... But you get Vista..... And that is an April Fools Joke.....:D

This is unbelievable!!! I ordered yesterday on the 1st April, and the expected delivery time is the 15th of may!

It's obvious these shipping dates are not exact, Apple is just adding 20-something days to each order date to be safe.

My order is due to be delievered on the 17th of April because I ordered the day it was released - I have a feeling it's not going to arrive on time ...
 
I live in America, Oklahoma to be more exact. Didn't take Apple near as long to ship my MacBook. I hope they get this problem resolved..
 
I just got an email from apple telling me my iMac will be shipping earlier than expected. I had ordered on march 3. my shipping date has just been changed from april 14 to april 7, with delivery on april 8.

one more week!!!!!!!!
 
No change in mine, but I ordered it just this Sunday. I'm hoping for a change of shipping date soon!
 
yeah, hopefully they'll all move up soon then. I ordered on the 4th March. Fingers crossed, no change yet though! Shipping still set for 15th April, 6 weeks after I ordered :(
 
No change here either. I ordered on March 5th.
Is it some kind of joke? It's April 1 after all. :D
 
If its some kind of joke... Argh, I shall be upset! My hopes skyrocketed for a moment. Poor me, I forgot that it was April Fools day...
 
I ordered March 7th and haven't had my shipping changed as of now. Shipment is April 20th and delivery April 24th.
 
I ordered mine on March 3rd (from spanish Apple Store) and I haven't got any mail from Apple (for the moment). If it's a joke, well, more time to wait... :(

Just a heads up, I called ATI to see if it was the product that was on back order or not. What I got from ATI is YES the card IS ON BACK ORDER at this time. There is NO SET DATE when they will get more shipped to Apple. This was the best guess they could tell me. Then I got on the phone to Apple. They said the reason for the 3-5 week is because the product (meaning the video card) is not available at this time to put into the iMacs.

However if they had them it would be appx 1-2 weeks turn around because of the massive orders that they have for the new iMacs. So basically it seems that it is a waiting game. :( So the 3-5 weeks wait is more likely 5-6 weeks and could amount to longer time if ATI is slow about building more cards.
If anyone else has more information please POST it here. Thanks. :apple:

Tried to confirm but could not find any number at AMD (ATI ) that would give me access to a customer service rep other than for drivers etc. I did call Apple and did get a confirm that they are still on hold and she did indicate it was probably the card, but could not confirm for sure....

For my effort I was graciously given an upgrade ...:cool:

does anyone think that this is true?? why would there only be one person out of a million with their date moved up??? hummm seems weird to me... i hope its true though!! i would love to get mine next week!!!

This is really driving me crazy... They should put a warning on the website "We are unable to ship these cards as of right now" or something. The Apple brand is supposed to be 'Reliable.' I guess its not as reliable as I first thought.

That auction is probably either:

A) a fake and someone is trying to steal money, but that's unlikely b/c the feedback rating is above 99%

or B) an honest typo mistake and meant to put GT 130

or C) the auction description says, "usually ships 3-5 days" and this is not a "usual" case...heh

I asked the seller a question and pointed out that the 4850 hasn't been released and to provide a screenshot of the system profile to prove it. We'll see what happens.
