I'm not mean spirited, he isn't sharing his experiences, he is parading the fact that he has it and we don't. I'm all for sharing information but if he really wanted to he could have FLOODED us with info. Instead he is enjoying the attention and the exclusivity he is feeling right... I am merely telling him to enjoy it while it lasts. If i had the iPhone today I would not only be enjoying the phone but I would be supplying this board info and if I didnt want to I wouldn't put up an intial post in the first place.

maybe he's busy working...

Well that, and the fact that he's probably at work and working!

The phones are out there. In a totally unexpected (and thrilling) encounter this morning I got to actually hold an iPhone today for about 3 minutes and tried to see as much as I could in the brief time I had. The OP said something that I agree 100% with, it is very heavy, the metal is warm and it is so luxurious feeling to hold. A real pleasure. The touchscreen is very good too (though I didn't get to type). That's about all I can add. Anyway, I'm in Portland OR right now so I may see some of you at the Pioneer Square Apple Store tomorrow! :)

He's been sitting here posting messages like, I dont care if you think its real or not I have one. So if he has time to do that he has time to supply info. I think everyone on this board, including myself is DYING with anticipation for this device tomorrow and maybe I stand alone but he is not telling me anything that hasn't been written in a review. Tell me about the ringtones, if this is his he must have the new version of Itunes... whats that like. If its the store demo then stop saying you have one and we dont, your merely holding one and we aren't.

I'm not hating on him for having one, its just that this message board is not dedicated to congratualiting this guy that he has the iphone its about people like us finding out information that hasn't been supplied already.

Do I really stand alone on this?

they would have had to hide it pretty well to get it past the fcc

As someone has said, it may have been submitted to the FCC. Apparently several pages that Apple sent to the FCC were marked in such a way that they would not be released to the public... so there may be more in Apple's FCC filing than what is known to the public.

However, I doubt it. Steve Jobs, in a recent WSJ interview mentioned concerns that the 3G chips were larger than they would like, so we might have to wait for the 3G chips to shrink in size and energy consumption before they make it into the iPhone.

Im with you, just give us unreleased info. No mre fo this, it play youtube yeah we know. Or my fav, yup its cool, solid and the screen is clear. No kiiding? Did we not hear that already?

You obviously read the same stuff we do you are here on the boards, you know what we know and dont know. Come on hooka brother up!!!!

hey are the ads on top of macrumors "Flash" based?

if so why is it showing the ad up top of the phone?

would apple be having flash on the iphone?

Someone may have answered this already, but the reason why the ads still show is because as I understand they revert to animated gifs or jpgs when flash is unavailable. This seemed to be the case for me when I went to the NYT site using Safari 3 beta with plug-ins and Java (not Javascript) turned off.

Yeah why did they not put the N wifi in it. I mean I bought the darn router, let me use it with all my mac toys!!!!!!

802.11n would not accelerate your access to the Internet (unless you have a super-duper fast broadband connection on the other side of that router). 802.11n's main advantage are increased internal network speed (e.g., moving files from your PowerMac to your AppleTV) and greater range from the base station.

Totoally agree. I'd love to know double-byte support (or not) on iPhone please! It's as simple as checking some Japanese Language Web Site with iPhone Safari. Do tell. :) :apple:

Man the press is in Pit Bull mode.

EDGE is NOT bad at all.

You expect CNBC to be bias against anything that isn't Microsoft, since they have conflicting interests, having tied deals with MSNBC. But they have been brutal this week. They have at least dropped their "iPhone is going to be a tough sell with plans costing over $100/month" Gee they missed that one by over 40% too high. Did they come on and make corrections, or apologize? No. Not a word about reporting somethings as fact that wasn't true. We used to call that lying where I come from. Ethics? Forget it.

Edge vs 3G: What the media ISN'T telling people...

Edge Benefits: 1.Reasonably fast connections to the internet, not blazingly fast.
2. Lower cost/month than 3G connections, by a lot!
3. MUCH LOWER BATTERY DRAIN!

Edge drawbacks: 1. Not as fast as 3G (Although NO ONE has run or published any test specs this week. Aren't they supposed to go out and investigate the facts before they spew them forth?
2. Latency issues common to cell broadband service.

3G: Benefits: Faster than EDGE (Just how much is not clear at this time, because no one has tested them head to head).

3G Drawbacks: 1. Costs a lot more than EDGE $60-80
2. Has the same issues with latency delays that are common in EDGE. Which greatly reduces the perceived speed difference. (3G would likely faster on sustained big file downloads, but who is going to do that on a phone?)
3. HUGE BATTERY DRAIN. What's the fun of having faster service if your battery is dead?

My buddy's 3G Blackberry is slow in browsing the web. And the screen is tiny. And he doesn't have the option of switching to Wi-Fi.

Bottom line is lets wait to see how they stack up. Browsing speed isn't all that important to me. If I can save $20-40/month on my bill every month I'd rather have that money rather than a slightly faster network on a lesser phone.

Just my $.02

I still think its just a PR campaign. I'm sure there are Apple employees monitoring this site hourly, probably by the minute this week.

On another note, does anyone know of a forum that is talking about where lines are and aren't forming? If its city specific I am in LA...

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Your mising on emajor importnat thing.

QTSS!!!! If I had a faster wireless then I could start playing my movies from my QTSS and not have to wiat for it to cache, and not to mention the lag of waiting for it to catch up if it slows down.

Also if you have more then X amount of devices it would allow more devices to get the nice speeds. Its not 108 mbps per device its shared.

The issue with not having N in it is using G or B on your N network slows the entire network down to that speed so your comps can no longer take advantage of N speeds!!!

The reality is most of my browsing will be done via wifi, which is a lot faster than 3G, so I don't know what difference it makes. I ranted a bit about this same issue today here. People are making a much too big of a deal out of the 3G versus Edge thing. When I see the beautiful representation of the web in the first picture of this thread, I don't care if someone can download in 3G speeds on a device that horribly renders the internet. I would rather have it look properly and be slower than be fast and useless.

Actually...

...I have...several times this week. Just look for threads I've responded to...a couple of them have some speed and latency tests i've done.

The pictures are legit, but did everyone just skip over this post? I thought that was odd too...

thanks earnjam... everyone is ignoring us, however.

i will post again. this is the original post I said, that earnjam is referring to above.

"hold up.

"Im using it now..."

the demo of the keyboard specifically said it fixes Im to be I'm... unless if you purposefully decided to say Im instead of I'm???

why??"
