For me, in Firefox, on Windows, its working as designed; hidden until a mouse over event.I'll note that the neat hidden Mark As Read links are always visible in Windows on both Edge and Chrome.
That on my first screenshot just happened again. But this time after 10 seconds the alerts showed up.
Try a different browser?
Don't use the browsers back button, instead click the New Posts button again to get back to the page. I bet they'll show as read if you do it that way.
I've been getting that same 500/timeout error sporadically, usually after making a post. Sometimes it appears that the post isn't actually going to be made, but does, occasionally leading me to double post. It's possible since we added some new features but I haven't noticed a speed hit. Anyone else seen timeout errors?
If you see that error again can you post a screenshot?
Thanks
I'm getting that as well, I see it spinning away for extended period and then boom the error.

Yep, I've been getting the same error.
Yeah, they cropped up on me a few minutes ago. it seems sporadic, in that we get hit with them, and then its ok for an extended period of time, almost like maybe one of the servers is having issues and its only when the load balancing pushing on to that wonky server. It just happened to me 2 minutes ago.
This is a separate unrelated issue. Connectivity issue with our host. They are working on itIt's getting worse and worse for me.
And now the forums were even unreachable for 15 minutes:

Request Timeout
This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout'.
Ok I think we fixed the timeout errors. Let me know if it happens again.
I am unable to upload a picture. I keep getting the pop up error unable to add attachment.
