Just blinking "dots" and nothing happened:

Then I clicked on Forums and after about a minute:

I'll note that the neat hidden Mark As Read links are always visible in Windows on both Edge and Chrome.
For me, in Firefox, on Windows, its working as designed; hidden until a mouse over event.

That on my first screenshot just happened again. But this time after 10 seconds the alerts showed up.

Try a different browser?

Don't use the browsers back button, instead click the New Posts button again to get back to the page. I bet they'll show as read if you do it that way. :)

Will try both suggestions. If I just hit the New Posts button again, will it bring me back to where I left off?
[doublepost=1452040109][/doublepost]Ok...I think I found a compromise. I mark threads read. I read a thread, I hit New Posts and go straight to Page 10. Then I can actually work through the older posts, and marking threads read works fine.

It's possible since we added some new features but I haven't noticed a speed hit. Anyone else seen timeout errors?

If you see that error again can you post a screenshot?

Thanks
I've been getting that same 500/timeout error sporadically, usually after making a post. Sometimes it appears that the post isn't actually going to be made, but does, occasionally leading me to double post.

It just happened to me 2 minutes ago.
Yeah, they cropped up on me a few minutes ago. it seems sporadic, in that we get hit with them, and then its ok for an extended period of time, almost like maybe one of the servers is having issues and its only when the load balancing pushing on to that wonky server.

I could be wrong on that, but that's what usually happens on my servers when we have intermittent issues.

Sometime during this update I lost the ability to hover over the Latest Alerts flag in the Edge browser (I have to click on the flag). I also can't hover over a thread and get a preview (pretty sure this used to work). And as mentioned before on Edge and Chrome the Mark as Read buttons are always visible.

Oh, and this also seems to mean that the Latest Alerts flag doesn't update automatically. I have to manually refresh a page to see if there are any new alerts.

ya, I see the errors in the logs, but not sure what is triggering them. Working on it.
FYI: Got another one a couple of minutes ago.
Request Timeout
This request takes too long to process, it is timed out by the server. If it should not be timed out, please contact administrator of this web site to increase 'Connection Timeout'.

thanks
