Leakers generally leak from information they have access to and decide to leak it, with knowledge of the risks. That is not the same as finding someone’s likely private/confidential folder and posting it. This isn’t journalism. It’s also not investigative journalism or whistleblowing.

The issue is that, assuming the OP is true, it’s a random person who isn’t entitled to the folder taking advantage of someone’s mistake/forgetfulness and posting it online, unnecessarily risking the job of the person who left the folder
I see the difference, but still. If someone leaves behind a document, and assuming said document is related to an unreleased Apple product, then they are pretty stupid and probably deserve to suffer the consequences. Actually the foolishness of leaving it behind is probably what makes me think it isn't from Apple.

Grabbed coffee coming home from Cupertino today and saw this folder left behind by someone. I’m nosy and peeked through — seems to be a branding presentation for an upcoming phone. There is a big emphasis on "going green."

It looks pretty Apple-like and the September date certainly lines up. I’m curious to hear your thoughts? Could they be preparing a “green” 15R?

I realize this is pretty risky to leak potential internal documents but compared to the other leaks on here I figure it might be vague enough to be okay 😅
Looks way too amateurish, limited in scope and early in the dev cycle. This is like 2 hours of work. Probably docs from some early startup/marketing pitch after a single workshop and half an afternoon of work.

Additionally it’s obvious with that generic pyramid slide, Apple already has those kinds of “company philosophies” in place and they’re likely significantly more developed than that.

Could be a first draft of a pitch from an external marketing firm attempting to get Apples business, but I would assume it would look more professional than that if they’re in the loop for Apple’s September launch.

Nothing about this makes me think of the iPhone.

I can't lie this looks Apples doing to me. As time goes by im starting to see them being behind this type of marketing. Their event is coming up as well.

Wow. The copywriting is even more Apple now. And it's matching very closely to what we saw in these leaks.

I wonder if Apple is not putting their branding on the ads, so that the reveal is even more shocking!

Is no one taking this seriously? We have all the evidence we need:
1) Leaked documents found in a Cupertino cafe (where Apple HQ is)
2) Giant billboard ads, matching the Cupertino docs, have been seen (implying this was from a big company, not some startup)
3) Apple recently supported a right to repair bill in California.
4) There were some rumours about a more repairable device, and the repairable direction was already noticed with their self-repair program, and most importantly, with the iPhone 14.

We don't need to speculate anymore. We're getting a revolutionary iPhone "R" this year. But what will it be? Repairable/recyclable/reusable? Is it a new product entirely? What will it be priced at?

Whomever is behind this "R" phone, it sure as heck is not Apple.

First, the "leaked materials" are not in the San Francisco font. :p
Second, the advertising is nothing like Apple's branded advertising campaigns.
Third, why would Apple start advertising it BEFORE the iPhone event?
Four, where are the months (if not years) of supply chain leaks as the phone went though Engineering Validation Testing?

The Fairphone 5 is scheduled to launch this month in the US so maybe the are renaming it "R". :D

I think this "evidence" is rather a marketing campaign from an other phone manufacturer that wants to benefit from the Apple September hype. Their marketing wants you to believe it’s run by Apple to get media attention. "Leaking" documents in a Cupertino cafe is a nice way to give credibility to this rumor
The idea that Apple has posters up in a public space, without something blocking them, makes this thing laughably fake.

The…remedial level slide of the campaign, in extremely low level explanation makes me think this is an MBA or marketing major class project.

Apparently this marketing campaign is a total fail, since I seem to be the only guy falling for it. That's wasn't very smart, was it?

Apple used to do teaser posters all the time. I'm not sure if in public spaces. But they didn't announce the product yet, it's just a teaser.

This almost feels like a troll ad. Why spend the money for it and not even give a brand name.

Almost like the whole birds aren’t real movement.

I'm convinced by the billboards-- this isn't Apple. Apple doesn't anonymously tease releases like this. There's no scenario where not including the Apple logo generates more interest than including it.

But no other company would exclude their logo either, right? Apple is the biggest company in the world. Maybe they don't even need a logo anymore.

There's nothing about any of this that screams Apple.

Don't need a logo? We're supposed to assume all billboards are Apple then? Apple has one of the most valuable brands on the planet because that little logo draws attention-- why devalue a marketing investment by dropping it?

If someone else used it though, it would be illegal. The iPhonesque image is likely not.

Guys, the answer is obviously clear. This is the rumored "Tesla Phone" and "R" is the name of the company. You know Musk loves his single-letter words and is all for recycling. All of Tesla batteries are 100% recycled. His rockets are recycled. Plus, he has buildings/office space in Cupertino.

I'm mostly kidding, but I think that (or any other company) sounds more plausible than this being from Apple. This doesn't sound like Apple at all. Apple never teases or shows a new product without any sort of event or press release. What good do these ads do when we don't know what company it's from? Why is Penn Station the only place where these digital ads seem to have popped up and that we're the only ones on the internet talking about it? It would have been wiser to blast these ads everywhere to generate buzz...or at least at a busier place like Times Square. (Who knows, maybe they did and no one really noticed.) Also, the Penn Station photo came from someone who created their Reddit account a few days ago. How do we know it wasn't photoshopped or that it's from the same person that left the folder behind?
