So I did send my Lamy 2000 in for repair.
Finally got to pick it up again today, repaired under warranty (+10 year old pen !).
Cheers to Lamy, I say :)

Impressive repair policy.

Cheers to Lamy indeed.

Whenever any of my Mont Blancs required repair, this was done, (usually with the pen sent back to Mont Blanc), but not without cost.

Well wear, and enjoy writing with it.

How is the Caran d'Ache pen working out for you?

It will be my daily writer for sure - even more so since my Lamy 2000 is leaking (probably send it to Lamy for repair).
Now onto looking for the best paper/notebook match. Life can be hard, can't it
What paper did you end up buying?

My own (current, personal) favourite is the Leuchtturm1917 (A5) notebook.

What was wrong with it? I could never get on with my Lamy. It never wrote consistently. I now use a Parker that is faultless.
While cleaning the pen (pulling in / pushing out water with the piston), I noticed bits of water coming out of the joint between the barrel and the section. Since the pen didn't leak any ink during normal use, I thought the problem was mostly due to the extra pressure when pushing out water. Either way, I was afraid that it wouldn't be too long before ink would actually find its way as well.
Until then, I never disassembled the 2000, so I watched a few online video's.
When I finally unscrewed the parts, the threads on the barrel seemed to be worn out. Very strange, since I never unscrewed it before.
I had no other choice than to send it in for repair.

Apart from that, my 2000 is a very smooth writer that I never had any other issues with.

Indeed, I'm impressed with the Lamy service.
Another reason to enjoy the pen even more I guess.

Thanks for asking!

The Caran d'Ache is an exquisite pen, and without a doubt the best I have in my humble collection.
Believe it or not, I've been using it exclusively since day one for all my writing, scribbling and drawing.
I'm testing several inks with it, because it's a <F> nib and rather dry.
Admitted, it's still new but I don't think my enthusiasm will fade any time soon. The writing experience is simply superb.

Rumor goes that writing with a (good) fountain pen can improve on your hand writing.
Rumor also goes that the above rumor is overrated.
In my case, my hand writing has definitely improved. And I blame it on the pleasure of writing with the Ecridor.

I bought a Leuchtturm1917 (A5), a Midori MD soft cover (A5), and some Travelers' C° refills that are MD paper as well.
The Midori MD has light blue gridlines, which I quite like.

But first, I want to finish a few that I have in rotation ATM.

It's nice that the Lamy got repaired under warranty!

Not to diminish this repair or take away anyone's happiness with Lamy... But I've heard some people who've had bad experiences, although it may be on cheaper pens. And it may not be Lamy in Germany but a subsidiary supplying support in the country in question.

One such story (2015, so it's not current--but not that many years ago):

I have to admit this has dampened a lot of enthusiasm I had for Lamy. (And I was seriously tempted a few months ago to get a Safari. And the 2000 is intriguing, although I can't see buying a pen in that range at the moment--particularly since there is no way of trying it before buying.

I sometimes used a fountain pen for homework when I was in high school. I don't remember why I started--I had the pen, and maybe thought using it might make the busywork the teachers gave out by the dump truck load more bearable? But I did notice that my handwriting seemed to improve when I was using a fountain pen. But it didn't magically make my handwriting remotely good. And this was in comparison to pencil (standard wood pencils) and cheap ballpoints. I might not have noticed as much of a difference if I'd had access to a better ball point or roller ball back then.

Well, perhaps I was lucky - or... things over at Lamy have changed in the course of the past 8 years ;-)

I really do like Mont Blanc pens - but I rarely write anything these days (I work in IT)!
I've been tempted to buy one just for fun!

Nothing wrong with writing just for fun, you know ;)
Journaling, commonplace book, notes while reading books...
Chances are, you'll enjoy it more and more.

If they are comfortable in your hand, if your wrist feel that the pen flows and writes easily when holdng one, writing with one, then, by all means treat yourself to a Mont Blanc, (and treat yourself to the Mont Blanc pen that feesl right for you).

I have had fountain pens that were too heavy, (for me, that includes Parkers), and others that felt as though I had to "push" them, to almost force them when writing, thus, it felt as though I had to work hard whne writing, a titing experience, especially for my wrist.

For me, a small Mont Blanc Meisterstuck comes close to ergonomic perfection, affording a real sense of ease in the hand, but this is very much a personal preference.

Always been a Lamy fan myself - I have a 2000 and a Persona.
My favorite fountain pen, hampered only by using the fairly low capacity Lamy Safari converter, is the Dialog3, which I own in black. I especially like the nib retraction, and the cigar shape is just so aesthetically pleasing for a fountain pen. I just wish it had better ink capacity (but, of course, Lamy would prefer you to buy cartridges).

I know I've read comments online from people who like fountain pens because they have computer dominated jobs, and a fountain pen gives them an after hours escape from technology.

My favourite pens are Montblanc 149. Love the enormous nib, love the enormous body of the pen. Always bought them on second hand market for 300-350 €, I’ve got now three of them that I love to use. For the moment the Capless overtake them, sure, but they will come back for sure.

Mine are the Montblanc 144 and 145, but then, my hands are small.

However, these are perfect pens, the best I have ever had.

Lamy's lifetime warranty is a thing of the past in the US, unfortunately.

The section on my 2000 has cracked a few times-a known design flaw that supposedly has been fixed. I use to mail it in with a check for $10 for return shipping, and it would come back in a few week.

The last time it happened, I reached out to service, and was told that it would be $80 to fix it...wasn't happy about that. It sits unfixed, and unfortunately it soured me on Lamy products.

Sorry to hear about your poor experience with Lamy US, and I understand you being soured by it.
FWIW, I own 5 Lamy fountain pens, some dating back about 25 years, and this issue with the 2000 was the first issue I ever had.
