First off I apologize for the huge post this is going to be, but I want to help catch this individual(s) as well.

First off I did a Lookup and found this:
Lookup has started ...

Server: 24.113.32.29
Address: 24.113.32.29#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: http://www.macfanaticshop.com
Address: 64.106.213.20

Authoritative answers can be found from:
macfanaticshop.com nameserver = ns1.rescon.com.
macfanaticshop.com nameserver = ns.rescon.com.
Then I followed that up with a Whois of the 64. addy and came up with this:
Whois has started ...

DataPipe DATAPIPE-BLK4 (NET-64-106-128-0-1)
64.106.128.0 - 64.106.255.255
Vladimir Iotzov DP-64-106-213-0 (NET-64-106-213-0-1)
64.106.213.0 - 64.106.213.255

# ARIN WHOIS database, last updated 2004-06-18 19:10
# Enter ? for additional hints on searching ARIN's WHOIS database.
Whoever that Vladimir Iotzov is, I have no clue, what was interesting (and the longest result) was the Whois for the server, here it is:
Whois has started ...

Now what's interesting is that I live in Western Washington and our house uses Wave cable and broadband internet, so I know they're a legit company, but what's with all those John Smith names?

EDIT: Here's the real site addy if anyone is interested - http://eh2512.sites.elevatedhosting.com/

MacFanaticshop.com has no products to sell. MacFanaticshop.com has been reported to the FBI and Apple® computer. MacFanaticshop.com is a scam. MacFanaticshop.com has been scamming shoppers for many years. Grrrrr...!

What I was wondering though: how do you get from Vladimir Iotzov (IP 64.106.213.x) to Wave Broadband (IP range: 24.113.0.0 - 24.113.127.255)? Or which server do you mean?

Ah well the reason I removed the last post was that after talking with a few friends, they thought it would be best to remove it so as not to bring too much attention to myself especially since I'm so close to this area in question, though I guess enough people have been affected that it wouldn't hurt to do a checkup.

EDIT: That address they want you to send the money to is the warehouse. Or lack thereof. When we get up to the (fictional?) warehouse, I'll let you all know what we've found. My MUG group thinks this is pretty cool, going on a secret mission and all. ;)

I did a Lookup for http://www.macfanaticshop.com and it gave me the IP addy for the website (64.106.213.20). I did a Whois on that IP and it gave me Vladimir Iotzov. Going back to the original Lookup, the server IP was listed as 24.113.32.29 so I did a Whois on the server IP and it came up with all that Wave Broadband stuff.

Looking at that image the bottom building to the right of the road could be the warehouse image from the webpage, it's just figuring out what that company really is. I wish that image on the site had high enough res to make out that white with red lettering.

does anyone actually live near there?? why not pop by and see if it is there or not , maybe take some photo's?

anyway going on whats on his site - his apple promo photos are only legit if he puts a line at the bottom saying from apple.com ect! this must be a way for apple to shut down this site in breach of copyright laws -

I live about 20 minutes away, I'll be back up to Bellingham in a week or two and I'll swing by there with a few friends, they say to come on by and meet their professional staff. ;)

macfanaticshop.com <> macfanatic.com

Hello All,

I would just like to introduce myself. I am new to the forums here at macrumors.com. I have checked this site before and do keep up on the latest news here but I don't frequent the forums.

Now I was informed by one of the members here about this thread and the scam that is going on.

I would like to publicly post that MacFanatic.com is in no way related to MacFanaticShop.com.

I cannot believe the that they have copied our name and added SHOP to the end of it. I am looking into what we can do to have his site taken down. I am not sure if he is violating any trademark/copyrights because of the slightly different name. However he does have "Mac Fanatic.com" displayed as his logo which I can have removed as he is violating our trademark/copyright.

I registered our domain on 11/30/2001 and the macfanaticshop.com was registered on 2/22/2004 so you can see we have been around alot longer than him.

I had originally bought the domain and intended to develop it as a retail site for mac accessories but with great pricing. However I do have many ventures going and never did get to launch the site. I currently have a placeholder just so people know that the site is actually alive.

I will keep an eye on this forum for any new developments and I will also update you if I get anywhere.

Regards,
Philip M. McDonnell

Dennis Charalambides... powermac4u.com

Amazing. I thought he'd dropped off the face of the Earth; now I find out he just relocated! I remember getting conned when he was still operating under the name powermac4u. (Of course, it's disappeared completely. The only remnants are here:

http://lists.themacintoshguy.com/Lists/X-Apps/Message/4839.html

Perhaps this will add to the investigation, if you don't already have it... :)

I wish there'd been a site like this last year (May), when I paid $1500 dollars for a bogus UPS tracking number... (Ended up sending my cashier's check to a Dog Owner's Association address!! Though I still to this day wish him dead, I'll give him credit: he's got a sense of humor.)

This thread REALLY need to be a sticky with the name of the thread changed to fit whatever name this guy is running his racket under. There were at least 3 new threads this week about macfanaticshop, and all of them were answered with a link to this thread.

Apple knows...

..they probably won't do anything unless Macfanaticshop aka MWS(MacWhateverShop) steps on copyrights, etc. Apple sez "MWS is not an authorized distributor and as such should not be trusted to sell Apple products." Notice that MWS doesn't sell Applecare or ever have anything in stock under $1000. Even their FAQs are defensive. Macfanaticshop is Macfantasyshop and their low prices are a perfect bait for bargain hunters. You'd do better on eBay. At least some of the folks their are trustworthy. Macfanaticshop lies. Macfanaticshop steals. Macfanaticshop cheats. Macfanaticshop hates. Macfanaticshop fools. Macfanaticshop advertises. Get Macfanaticshop where it hurts. DoS Macfanaticshop.com. Push them off Google. Shop legit!
