Yes, I have my previous Sierra System HD backed up. Will clone over my current High Sierra System HD drive and re-install High Sierra up to Security Update 2018-002, which should give me build 17G3025. I haven't tried installing WebDriver-387.10.10.10.40.108 yet, so thought I might give it a shot. Think it might make a difference?

The best way to get round a lot of this ******** is to turn on the VNC/remote management on the mac
That way if there is an update & you loose screen.... you fall back to a VNC connection to do the install
but after running with a non EFI 1070 , it just ain't worth the trouble.
10.12.6, has screen corruption, backward screen snapshots & out of date screen buffers.
no boot up, failure to load/work NVIDIA drivers on every os update
and so much dis-inforamtion about link speed........
non efi says 2.5 , but the test apps one says 2.5 the other say >5GT/s
others say the 2.5 link speed is only "cosmetic"... who knows what the truth is...
oh... and the whole PCI chain wont display... take it to 10.13.x and that clears up some problems ,but no back ports.

VNC remote works for updates, but @5050 is having an issue with installing the NVIDIA Control Panel and/or Preference Pane. This is likely related to Gatekeeper and/or SIP. The 387.10.10.15.15.108 driver does not "break" with each OS release/update since install and resolves the main complaint most users had with non-EFI NVIDIA cards on Mac.
So rolling back to 17G3025 and installing 387.10.10.10.40.108 did not resolve the issue. Frustrated, I Googled other "non-High Sierra" cases where the NVIDIA Web Driver refused to load on restart. Of course I found a dated 2017 post from MacVidCards where an El Capitan user was experiencing the same issue. Worth a shot. The solution according to MacVidCards? PRAM reset. What? I was 99% certain this would not work. This was apparently the 1% time where things worked out, despite expectation. NVIDIA Web Driver now loaded on PRAM reset! Here's the MacVidCards link below:

Sure, they are also free to crash the company if they so desire. However, I would not call this professional behaviour.

It's an interesting article, but since they got wrong that only GTX 680 and Quadro K5000 are supported by the native drivers, this was the easiest part to get it right, I'm thinking what more is wrong?
I just want to report back in case anyone else searches for this, I've had 100% uptime and no KPs or shutdowns since installing the Powerlink for my 1080ti in December. I've used the machine every day in Photoshop, ZBrush, Substance Painter and C4D with Redshift and Octane and it's rock solid.

Yes, the PowerLink is a great adapter for the Mac Pro 5,1.
I just bought the new Acer Nitro XV273K 4K monitor. I can confirm this monitor is compatible with older Nvidia cards without DisplayPort 1.4. My Maxwell GTX Titan X has only DP 1.2. No problem with the Acer Nitro XV273K even in DisplayPort 1.4 mode, boot screen etc all working, of course only with 60 Hz in 4K (limitation of DP 1.2). No Nvidia graphics firmware tool for DP 1.4 compatibility needed, meaning one can keep the MVC EFI.
I will test this monitor later with my RX 580. With this card providing DP 1.4a 120Hz refresh rate in 10 Bit (ARGB101010) is available.
Using macOS 4K in scaled 'looks like 2560 x 1440' resolution does not work @ 120 Hz. Native 3840 x 2160 does work @ 120 Hz.

I got my Powerlink installed earlier this week and am absolutely satisfied with it's results in stabilizing, but I was expecting a full 50/50 split. It sits 70/30 at idle and on draw 60/40-but like I said spikes have been stabilized to mole hills and I presume the unevenness is related to the 770 and the 6+8 combo?

There is an up to ~10W difference of power draw between Boost A and B when the card is installed in slot 1.
But if you install the card in slot 2. The difference will be pretty much disappear.
Never dig deep into the why. But it seems Boost B include some slot 1 power draw.
Thanks, that what I was hoping-or maybe just driver related and it would disappear with a 8+8 pin card.

Apologies : off topic but I'm expecting delivery of my EVGA Power link for my Sapphire Dual-X 7970 this week. Maybe the EVGA PowerLink needs it's own thread. If it lessens the potential for power shutdowns & truly regulates power supply to GPUs I'm all for a new thread.

More importantly, this thread is for NVIDIA non-EFI GPUs. The AMD GPU situation is 100% different than NVIDIA on Mac and should be discussed in its own thread.
aftermarket efi nvidia pcie cards are and were only kepler evga gtx 680 and pny k5000 for mac pro 5.1 ...
other mx 7xx sth stuff for imac or mac book pro never were seperate products ....
beta maxwell pascal volta cards never had efi-rom or were officially supported stuff ...
just nerds ,enthusiasts or extravagant developers used cuda on mac...
vray,octane,redshift,maxwell or iray simmilar gpu stuff will die on mojave...
iray already did ...
apple fu..##..ed, abused me again after ios6 disabled downgrade now nvidia cuda kill on macos
there will never be a mac comeback without cuda ...forget mac pro 7.1...

I skipped High Sierra because I was holding out for Mojave. Really wish Nvidia would come out and make an official announcement if it's going to happen or not so I can move on or prepare...It's looking more and more like we may never see Nvidia drivers beyond HS:
