Yes, NVIDIA needs to release a version of CUDA that works on Yosemite (and in particular the NVIDIA web driver). Surprising that it's taken this long, but one would expect it to be released soon.

Very surprising. There must be tons of Mac OS Adobe users that aren't getting use of CUDA after updating to Yosemite.

I've updated my personal Mac Pro so it's less of a bother. But this kind of thing is why I wouldn't update my work Mac Pro for quite sometime.

CUDA is now 64 bits, and is working for me on Yosemite with the web drivers. I do get the "Update Required" message, but CUDA works with my MVC Gigabyte GTX 780.

I just got an EVGA GTX 750Ti running on my 4,1 mac pro with Yosemite (this card specifically: http://amzn.com/B00IDG3IDO). I've got it set in the second PCIe slot with the latest web/cuda drivers and the card works, osx boots, I get an output on the monitor, etc.

I fired up a game and it was laggy and couldn't take any worthwhile graphics settings. I ran Cinebench R15 and it is reporting 42 fps which seems way low. All the reviews I read put it more in the 100 fps range.

I saw the discussion today about the CUDA drivers and I do see that "required update" message. Does that affect in-game performance? Is there something else I need to do to get this card to perform?

CUDA appears to be running now - but i'm not confident it'll stay that way.

For some unknown reason (as I didn't change anything, or reinstall anything), the "Update required" message has disappeared and when I opened After Effects it was showing to be using CUDA.

I have no explanation why, i'm still on the same web drivers, and latest CUDA update for Yosemite. It wasn't working before but now is. I have a feeling it'll revert, but fingered crossed it won't. However, I shouldn't have feel that way! Should be reliable!

I'll update later.

Hello gents,

A Mac Pro 2,1 running OS X Yosemite will be able to run an Nvidia GTX Titan Black graphics card?.

Thanks.

CUDA has nothing to do with games.

Most people who need CUDA know what it is, if you are blissfully ignorant, you don't need it.

Cinebench in OSX is ONLY useful for CPU benching, despite having a tab that says GPU. As has been demonstrated before just about any Nvidia card will get same score. Cinebench will tell you gow fast you can runCinebench, nothing else.

Gtx750ti is now considered an "entry level" card despite having equivalent power of former GTX470. Running latest games at high res with lots of details may require better card.

Try turning off AA and AF. At res we use now all they do is slow things down. Only turn up effects that change things you care about and notice.

GREAT ARTICLE OSGORATH - You are a master

There has been a fair amount of confusion about the NVIDIA PC card support since it was last enabled in the 10.7.3 web driver. I'm going to use the term PC card to describe a stock card with no EFI, that is, any old NVIDIA graphics card that you can buy online or from your local computer store.

We have just started work on project with GTX780 in 5,1 MacPro , the information above has been very helpful , you are a good man.

No HDMI output in Nvidia GTX 750

Hello!

I have bought a Nvidia GTX 750 from Asus (it doesn't need external power supply) for my Mac Pro 4,1 (2x26Ghz). I have installed Yosemite with the latest Nvidia web drivers (313.01.01f03) and after the chime I can see the Desktop in the VGA output, but no in the HDMI.

If I plug the original card Nvidia GT120 with the new one, I can see the boot with the displayport-to-vga output in my screen. If I have the TV in the HDMI of the GTX 750 is like Yosemite doesn't know that there is connected the TV, but if I connect to the VGA output of the GTX 750 it works.

I have tested that the HDMI output works installing GNU/Linux in the same Mac Pro. I have read the thread and the user hompfel in https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/20275959/ has the same issue with another nvidia card

I'm not sure if I can flash the bios of the GTX 750 to accept UEFI or if it's a good idea to do it to.

Any idea? Thanks!

Hello,

I got my GTX 750Ti working on my MacPro 5.1, but only at 30Hz refresh rate. And on Display Preferences, the option is greyed out, i cannot change it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

All,
I have recently ran into a problem with my Mac Pro 5.1 running a Sapphire Radeon HD 7950. I am having issues with the GPU crashing when I try to run HDCP Encoded video, primarily in Itunes. The screen images will jerk, and then freeze up, and I get a console message that my GPU has crashed. The sound will continue, and I can see the mouse move, but everything else is frozen up.

I started a seperate thread for my issue here, but so far I have not found a solution.

Has anyone else had this problem? Am I dealing with a dying video card?
Thanks,
C. Alan

This thread is for discussions about NVIDIA GPUs only, sorry.

It is likely that the BIOS already has UEFI. But since Mac Pros don't use that it is of little use.

We will be offering Mac EFI GTX750 flashing service soon, have them nearly perfect.

Should we guess what display you have?

I'm going to guess.....a 1973 Zenith 19" TV.

Am I right?

Seriously, your post is meaningless without that info.

I did not know that.
My display is LG 34UM95. Its one of the ultra-wide 21:9 monitors.

Thank you

I haven't followed the state of the 750ti too closely, but you should be able to drive this display at 60Hz via DisplayPort, and 50Hz via HDMI. I have no issues doing so with an NV 680.

My 750Ti has one DVI, one HDMI and one analog.

Display port, you mean the DVI ?

Thanks,
Alex

One like this.

Right.

Then, i'll get the 750Ti with display port, I can see EVGA has a display port on.
I must have gotten the only card with no display port :)

Or maybe an EVGA GTX 760.

thank you all for the information,
Alex

I'm getting an Gainward GeForce GTX 760 in a few hours. I will report how it goes (i really hope it goes well).

Anybody want a brand new MSI GTX750Ti ?

Thanks

Install Maverick on MacPro 1,1 without boot screen

Hi to all and sorry for my bad english. I'm a newbie in Apple world.

I want to install Mavericks on my sister's MacPro 1,1 and the original GT7300 is broken. I've bought a Gainward GT640 from Amazon that will arrive tommorow. At the moment I use an old Geforce 9600 GT of my friend. It boots on 10.7.5 (boot screen doesn't work obviously) but i don't know how I'll be able to install Mavericks if i'll not able to choose the boot device! I don't have another Mac machine so i can't follow the procedure of install the OS on external hard disk.. I've heard about an alternative bootloader called Chameleon that could help me. Has anyone of you tried it in a similar situation?
Or......is it possible to select the boot device before restart the Mac? I do something similar on my Linux desktop by using a script for GRUB.

Thanks in advance and i hope to resolve the problem ASAP

Wow this was a direct hit !

Asus GeForce GTX 760.
At first i got worried about the power connector. But there is a power cable included which converts the 2 x 6pin of MacPro to the card's power supply (8-pin).

Also, it worked flawlessly, 3440x1440 @ 60Hz.
Also, the card is DEAD quiet.

Recommended.

Alex

Ps. my MacPro is 5,1 mid 2011.
