^^^^^^^ Great news. I can verify this with my GTX970, although CUDA-Z still has problems, as does Nvidia CUDA Preferences.
What version of CUDA-Z are you running?

I realized that I was using the old version of CUDA-Z. Now running beta version 0.9.230,
But GPU-Z is showing GTX970 ;-)So now I can report on improved performance with my GTX980

Mine is the EVGA 04G-2974-KR, with ACX 2.0 cooling and superclocked to run at a core clock at 1165 MHz and a boost clock of 1317 MHz. I got it from NewEgg.Maybe I ask what brands of 970's you guys are using?
Does anyone know if Yosemite has killed support for the GTX 650? I've got one in my 2009 Mac Pro, and it worked fine in Mavericks (and continues to do so).
In 10.10.0, it still worked but the Mac would reboot 2 or 3 times before reaching the desktop.
I tried updating to 10.10.1, but never again reached the desktop after the restart. There is an endless reboot cycle. I restored from Mavericks backup, and the system boots normally.
An error report would appear in 10.10.0....here is a portion:

We need the whole thing, hard to know what's going wrong with just that portion. What driver are you using?
I am not using the web driver. Just the OS X driver.
I'll post a full error report when I reinstall Yosemite.
^^^^Two of the pins on the Card need to be shorted. See Photo of my card to see how 6 pin cable is plugged into 8 pin plug, top two pins are shorted to the second set. or you could use a 6 pint to 8 pin adapter.
Lou
So, I ordered an 6pin to 8 pin adapter. Used the 6 to 6 pin cable in the other slot. I was guessing I'd only need the one 8-pin cable.
When I turned the computer on, I get the same message "Please power down and plug in PCie cables". Surely an 8 pin and a 6 pin connector would be enough?
Or do I need another 6 to 8 pin cable ?
Also, how do I know I don't have a fault on the power connector on the motherboard. The second connector came loose when I took out the cable. I plugged it back into place, and it seemed secure, but I wonder if I have damaged it.
As an alternative, I heard about using power from the DVD drive using a molex adapter. Is this worth trying?
I have the Yosemite beta installed on my MacPro 1.1, so keen to get the graphics card sorted out. Currently stuck with 5mb video memory on the old 2300GT !
Thanks for any help.
OK, let's think about this.
Here are the facts:
1. You haven't populated all of the power pins.
2. Your computer tells you that you haven't plugged in all of the power.
OK, what was your question again?

I have two Mac Pro 3,1 & one has an MSI GTX570 Twin Frozr II & the other anHey, firstly, thank you Asgorath for all the work you've done.
I've got just a quick question.
In 10.9 and 10.10, I cannot use the web driver with my Mac Pro 2008 3,1 and my EVGA GTX 570. If I do want to use the Nvidia web driver, the system does not boot, gets stuck at a grey screen. I've done a clean fresh install of 10.9, all updates, then installed web driver, and still no go. I have also done a clean install of 10.10, done all updates, and then web driver, but still I get a freeze at the grey screen.
I've also installed the CUDA driver, every time.
I have to turn mac off, reset PRAM so that the OS X driver gets used, and then I get a useable system. Is there anything I'm missing?
Many thanks in advance,
Roman

I have two Mac Pro 3,1 & one has an MSI GTX570 Twin Frozr II & the other an
MSI GTX570 Twin Frozr III. They both work OK with the Nvidia web drivers but only one monitor output can be live at a time so as both systems have dual DVI monitors I have the stock OS X drivers installed. I suppose in theory the Nvidia drivers should be better but there is no major difference that I can see running Photoshop or Premiere Pro.
Use the web driver.
