Looks very similar to the Galaxy Nexus. Looking forward to hearing more about more about it.

Been waiting for the new Nexus!

See, if the "5 different manufacturers"-rumor is true, we can all be happy and a double rainbow will shine above us all :D

Except from the fact that all the new Nexus phones won't be as good as the flagship phones from the OEMs, hardware or feature wise. The OEMs still want their own skinned phones to be superior, or they feel threatened.

Look at Samsung. The Nexus phone they have manufactured have all been inferior compared to their flagship models in the Galaxy series. Otherwise they would never have agreed to manufacture them.

If we suddenly get new Nexus phones, that have all the best hardware, and the latest from Android... well, I just don't think that will happen. The OEMs know they produce inferior software compared to Google.

That's not exactly true is it?

The Nexus One from HTC was a carbon copy of the hugely successful HTC Desire. The only difference between the two was some additional ROM space for HTC Sense on the Desire.

The Samsung Nexus S was a similar story as above with specifications matching that of the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 which went on to sell millions.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first true deviation from any other handset with a Dual Core TI OMAP chipset (where as Samsung were pushing Exynos on the Galaxy S II).

If all the leaks come true, the next gen Nexus should be very competitive specification wise. It's a waiting game until it is announced though.

Front is sexy... not sure if i'm digging what appears to be some patterning underneath the rear glass/poly. Kind of reminds me of those bedazzled iphone cases... "shudder"
Yeah the back looks a bit odd. I kind of like it though, reminds me of black formica. Looks good with the metallic/gold print on. But most people will probably hate it, they better go for an all black back as well. And maybe it's just a prototype thing.

In general though, the thought of a Nexus phone that can rival the iPhone's build quality has me quivering with anticipation.

What is google thinking? Seriously!

There are the group of people who actually mind their phones not having some features...and others who don't. The majority (generalising here) that Dont mind are pretty happy with the iphone (with their right since its a nice phone) and will remain with Apple.

Then there are the ones that do mind and those (usually) settle for an android device.

Now google comes along and tries to shove both feet into one shoe (probably cost for UK will be the same) and offers you a 8gb/16gb without micro sd.....some old arse cheapo camera and thinks that justifies their vanilla experience!? , for the same price.

No thanks!

I'd rather settle for cyanogen and get a better phone for the same money.

Even though I do like the design of this LG nexus....I just can't justify the purchase just for the 'pure google experience'. Its over-rated in this respect since their are alternatives.

Better specs > Next day OS releases

Looks ugly as hell to me...Android needs to take a lesson from Apple on design. It probably will work better than the iPhone 5 (heck, my GS3 works better) but boy is it ugly.

Yeah I don't like the looks of that supposed LG Nexus but I do love the design of my GS3 and old Galaxy Nexus.

I am still hoping that there will be a Nexus based on the HTC Droid Incredible X. That would be fantastic and would have me reconsidering the decision to go with the Galaxy Note II.

I really hope this isn't true. This site is saying the LG Nexus will cost $399 because it will only have 8GB internal memory and no LTE (don't really care about LTE since we don't have it in Ireland yet).

http://www.afterdawn.com/news/artic...ked_lg_nexus_4_to_cost_399_direct_from_google

We can barely get a working 3G let alone 4G ;-) lol.... Highly doubt they will have 8GB only when the Galaxy Nexus has 16GB.

If there is any truth, then its possible they will offer an 8, 16 & 32gb version ? €399 / 449 / 499 pricing.

Maybe they will over an 8, 16 & 32gb version ?

I doubt it too, especially since it wouldn't match the rest of it's specs. I don't know anything about that website so let's hope it's not the most reliable.

I would love for it to go up to 32GB but I am willing to settle for 16GB. I'll just have to start using my iPod Nano more often now :p

----------

I'm becoming less and less impressed with the LG Nexus.

May hang onto the GN for a while longer...

Yep it looks like I might be doing the same with my GS3. It'd be a shame because I'm currently using my GS3 as if it were a Nexus (google-based ROM, hardware buttons turned off + navigation bar on).

Is there a technical reason phone manufactures don't put in more memory? It's seems like they an incredible amount for going up in memory (16 to 32 to 64) so it would benefit them to add more then charge 100 dollars more for each version like we see all the time.

I can understand offering a low price, low entry point option for consumers, like the 8GB Nexus at $399. That's fine.

But why not also offer a higher end version for those who want it? Like a 32GB version?

My answer? Google is probably aware the Nexus brand isn't going to sell like hotcakes off the bat. They test the waters with cheaper to manufacture devices, then when and if it becomes big, we'll see higher storage options.

Just like the Nexus 7.

I don't really understand this myself. Especially how Google/Asus are rumoured to make more profit on the higher capacity models.

I have no issues with them appealing to the cost conscious consumer with cheaper, lower memory offerings but why not let those of us that want a 32GB Nexus buy one (be it tablet or phone)?

I've lived with 16GB of storage on the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus for two years now, Google, Let me have a higher capacity this generation please? I'll pay the premium. :D

Way to piss off the people who do want the bigger storage but can't/don't want to wait. Who knows if this will be the case for sure. I'd be even more pissed off if I were to wait it out and then find out they aren't going to release 16 or 32GB versions.

Everything that we think we know about the Nexus 4 is more or less confirmed.
Color me disappointed. It's not a bad device, though. I'm just not in any rush to be an early adopter. My Galaxy Nexus is the best phone I've ever owned and besides the camera it's serving me extremely well.

Personally, I'm going to wait for a price drop and/or to see if they'll offer the Nexus 4 32GB for the same deal. I can wait a few months.

What google needs is real marketing. TV spots. endorsements. etc. And please direct people to google play (rather than carriers). I think it will help their whole ecosystem.

Maybe if they take the time and the resources to properly market and sell their flagship device OEMs will try harder to make a good device instead of what samsung has done the last two times (make something a half-step up from what they currently sell and then focus on their own flagship)

I just saw an ad for the Chromebook, so maybe that's a sign...

The GN on Verizon is a travesty. Really, Google should be embarrassed.

Genuine question here; Why?

Awful design and build quality

While it's not iPhone quality, I wouldn't call it "awful." Hopefully they improve the design and build quality in the Nexus 2.

Awful camera

Being a dSLR user, pretty much all cameras are "awful," but being a cell phone cam, how good do you expect? The lens is tiny. The sensor is microscopic. I think it's fine for capturing snap shots on the go.

Awful screen

Gotta disagree with you there. I think the screen is amazing. Looks like a retina display to me. I haven't compared to other smart phones, but still, the screen is hardly 'awful.'

I'm particularly disappointed that the Nexus 4 is thicker than the GN. Not by much, but the fact that it's not thinner is disappointing too. I was really hoping for something as thin as the GS3.

And, I tell ya, I'm disliking that chrome outline more and more. In fact, I sort of loathe it...

Agreed. It really should not be thicker and heavier. Now the thickness/weight will be in line with the Verizon GN. I'm so-so on the design, I prefer the GN design right now.

I might just pick up a Galaxy Nexus finally. Been holding out in hopes of a new Nexus, but undecided if I want to pick up the LG Nexus. Maybe HTC, Samsung, or Sony will have one out before year end.
