The Note 4 will be a nice device

----------

It's ok to bash Samsung and the G-Note. But God forbid somebody to do that to Apple or their iPhone. People's feelings (especially on this forum) would start to get hurt real quick.

What the OP failed to realize is, The whole camping out enthusiasm thing over a subpar spec phone is what we Android user find strange and scratch our heads over.

I'm a Android lifer who finally got his first iPhone thanks to the bigger screen of the 6, and while I'm enjoying my initial time with the phone, I can't help but feel a bit lied to by Apple fans that said iOS is this flawless OS that runs circles around android because so far I'm not seeing it.

I think their phones are nice. It's just the OS is what's so clunky.

Clunky for sure. I never felt like I could trust my Note 3 to operate the way it was supposed to. Always was going into the settings to make sure the battery chart looked right, settings were right, etc.

I wonder what Samsung is thinking after seeing 14 million iPhone's sold over the last week and a half?

Obviously Samsung would kill to be in this position

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isnt Samsung's record like 10 million phones In A MONTH a few years back with one of their Galaxy launches?

Honestly you may find 1-2 people waiting outside some stores to pick up the phone early in the morning before they go to work. But just because they want it as fast as possible not because they are afraid they'll have to wait 3-4 weeks to get one if they don't line up outside.

And I doubt you'll see that at most stores maybe just some in really dense urban areas, same as when the new Nintendo 3DS came out or the PS Vita or the XBOX ONE you'll always get a few people line waiting but nothing like the extremes we see with Apple.

Lets face it some Apple stores had more than 300 people queued before the doors opened and the stores didn't even have more than 100 phones to sell them.

If Apple had been smart, they would have staggered their release of the 6 and 6+. That way you would avoid all this nonsense of everyone just buying the 6+ thinking that they need that one because it is Apples new "best phone." Then they all try it out and realize, "whoops, not for me", and return it. If Apple were smart, they would have released the 6 now, then the 6+ later. Those who really wanted the larger phone would have checked out the 6 first, and then if they truly wanted the 6+, would have passed on the 6 and waited. Others would have just gone with the 6. Apple would not be getting this slew of returns that they are getting. But oh well. I digress. Lol.

Disagree BIG TIME. I've been in the market for a phablet for some time now and tried the note 3 (also tried htc one). Hated android, though htc was a bit more bearable for some reason. Android just feels clunky and over-cumbersome and not as fluid as iOS.

But hey, at least I tried and I'm not saying Android sucks. It's just not for me.

Thank goodness I didn't have to wait longer for an apple phablet.

And by the looks of 10 million in three days, I'd say they're pretty damn SMRT. And if people returning their 6+ were smart, they'd take to craigslist for a 6 trade plus extra extra cash to make a small profit.

Gotta be in it to win it
Are you just saying random things and stringing them together. Are the only available options for a tech firm to produce things that either fit a 'corporate image' or an android phone? :D

Is there a sale on question marks????

Yes, macrumors is selling question marks today.

Actually I'm glad you mentioned saying random things, because my response was as lucid as your original post I responded to.

There are a couple obvious things going on here.

Samsung doesn't have the marketing clout and popularity Apple does. Apples fan base is very loyal. Samsung (any company) dreams of this sort of popularity.

Apple doesn't have the production clout the worlds largest electronic company known as Samsung has. Samsung is making there devices and parts found in the iphone/iPad simultaneously with little bottlenecks on their end.

In either regard I wouldn't find that something to brag about. If anything buying an iPhone on release is a terrible ordeal that is more irritating than anything else (see the threads on this forum).

...... yes, this is a joke. What are the odds in these phones even remotely selling out? Slim to none I'd say. I work with a bunch of Android fans and I love rubbing this in their faces. lol

If Apple hadn't released the plus then I would have switched to the note 4 edge

Please explain how my logic is flawed. How would Apple splitting their product launch have made things worse? You are going to tell me that there are not returns of the iPhone 6+ happening and there are not people deciding that the 6+ is not for them? That returns of open product with no restock fee is not hurting Apple's bottom line? And that at least some of those returns could not have been avoided by allowing people to maybe check out the devices first before buying it without laying hands on it just because the heard that the bigger iPhone is better NAD has better features? OK.

As to Samsung being the best. Haha. No. I just use what I like and what fits my needs. That is what any consumer should do. Not just buy the "next big thing" or the "best iPhone we have ever made" for the sake of it.

Am I denying there exists people who returned their iPhone? No. Is that number large enough to justify your conclusion? Yes.

Is it hurting the bottom line? Depends on what you mean by hurt (appreciably or technically). Is it significant? Probably not, again referring to the numbers. Every company gets returns. Are you telling it only appreciably hurts Apple and not any other company?

Ha... you fell for it. No one ever mentioned "next big thing" or "best iphone we have ever made". Best is relative and subjective to the individual.

Well, if apple hadnt launched the 6 plus then I would have gotten the note 4. AS would quite a few others I know. I'm betting that this is NOT out of the ordinary, many potential customers Will go for the iPhone instead.
I am definitely in that category. It also would be a harder decision if there was a Google Play edition of the Note 4. My biggest gripe with the Note 3 is the ***tty implementation of Android from Samsung and being the carrier's bitch when it comes to updates. In all honesty, I like the form factor (not the build) of the Note 3 and 4 more than the 6+. I'd prefer a thinner top bezel and a slightly thicker phone. But it is what it is.

In the end I'm excited to go back to Apple though. My 4s was a solid phone, I just wanted a bigger screen.

Why would that make you feel glad. And why does your feeling glad matter more than answering why you think Apple's options are to either make 'corporate' or android things.

I didn't have to camp out for my iPhone 6 and I bought it 30 minutes before Verizon closed. And there was no line to boot. Camping for any phone is silly. Imagine those people that camped out for the 6 plus only to find out that they don't like it.
And even pre-ordering a new form factor sight unseen is stupid unless you order both models knowing that you're going to return one. I initially wanted the 5.5" but after playing around with it I liked the feel of the 4.7" better.

You can thank Note for your 6 Plus. Besides, Note 4 will sell more than 6Plus, that I can guarantee.
P.S. I'm not an Android user.

----------

Phablets were popular for 2 years before Apple even thought of making a phablet. Stop living under a rock.

----------

Its getting interesting how this forum is breaking into 2 groups of people. One group is educated adults, and the other group is full of people like the OP. You know, childish, fanboyish losers who think Apple will give them something for bashing other products.

Do you honestly think they will sell more note 4's than Apple sells iphone 6 +'s? Lolololololololzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Maybe half as many lolzzzzz

Who knows, maybe the Note series has some following. Will not make such a splash as Apple though.

As internal Apple documents show, the "splash" made by the Galaxy Note was significant, and required Apple to respond. There won't be lines because there are already plenty of 5"+ options on Android released at different times... which lets the buyer choose.

Had the note 2 hated it! Traded it for an iPhone 5! Love my plus leaps and bounds better than the Samsung... No sure why everyone bitches about ram?! Androids have tons of ram and can't run right. Yet Apple can throw less ram on a phone and have it run seamless for 2 years when android starts showing its age after a few months

One thing is for certain, there will be no comparison in terms of which phone pulls off the "phablet" design/functionality better. The 6+ (the current phone I'm using) is apple just saying "Here's a 5.5in iphone, $TFU already".

Yep.

Doesn't seem like much love was put into the 6 plus, imo.

Is Forbes good enough for you?

Note 3 did 10 million in sales in mere 60 days. That was twice the sales on Note 2 in the same period. Going by that logic, Note 4 will outsell Note 3 easily.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/timwors...-approaches-50-of-all-of-apples-iphone-sales/

Forbes is good enough but who cares about Note 4 sales compared to Note 3 sales? You stated that Note 4 would outsell 6+. Again, look up sales numbers and come back if you find information that might support your original assertion.

Do we know the breakdown of the 10 million number? How many 6+ vs 6? The 6+ being 3-4weeks out doesn't mean it's outselling the 6, it could be apple underestimated the demand initially.

I've had most Android flagships and every Note to date. I just ordered a 64gb iPhone 6 to replace my JB'd 32gb 5. Not sure how well I'm gonna handle not having JB. May keep the 5 around just in case. I love both iOS and Android and don't understand the fanboyism. Never have. iOS is convenient for me b/c of having a couple Macbook's and iPads in the house, but the customization (b/c I love tinkering with things) is so much better on Android. When in doubt, get both. :p

If Apple hadn't released the 6+, I might have tried out the Note 4. I've been eyeing a phablet for a while, but hadn't pulled the trigger.

Apple releasing one finally gave me a reason to. But the rumors/specs of the Note 4 look really great. If TouchWiz is trimmed down and Samsung has started to pay attention to the merging of hardware and software, I'd likely have gone that route along with my iPhone 6.

But to the OP's question, no the Note 4 likely won't generate many lines. The Note series has never sold in huge numbers and this year may be the best, but will likely not reach iPhone numbers.

Samsung really needs to streamline their smartphone offerings. Go with the Alpha design for the GS6 and continue refinements with the Note 4.

Based on traffic data (EXTREMELY premature I know, but really the only way we can judge at this point), its about a 7 to 1 split.

Basically that would mean about 8.5 million were iPhone 6's and the remaining 1.5 million were iPhone 6+'s.

Keep in mind - this is based on North American web traffic and is EXTREMELY premature.

But that gives you an idea and is likely not that far off IMO.

To compare I don't think any Note has gone much over 30 million in total sales. I could be wrong.....will do a quick search to see if I can come up with anything.

EDIT: I'll add some data here with links

Note 3 hits 10 million in 2 months - fastest selling Note device - Dec 2013
http://www.engadget.com/2013/12/10/samsung-note-3-10-million-sold/

(This is pre Note 3) Note line hits 40 million TOTAL - Sept 2013
http://bgr.com/2013/09/30/galaxy-note-sales-40-million-lifetime/

Can't find anything that talks about lifetime sales.
