You do know Samsung sells developer unlocked phones of the gs4 and gs5 right and also google editions of the phones that run pure android with no touchwize.

----------

http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/ET-G900VMKAVZW

There is no S5 Google Edition phone. And the S4 GPE was discontinued by Google.

Also these Samsung 'Developer' phones are Verizon only, none for Sprint, or ATT, T-Mobile, very strange they only sell the developer edition for the evil CDMA carrier Verizon, which I would NEVER sign up for.

So yeah, there are no developer / unlocked phones sold directly from Samsung or Google.

Think that's more down to the growing comp with other flagships then anything wrong they are doing.

Regardless of whether they're loosing them or not, they're not doing nearly as well as when the release the S3. The competition was terrible besides the iPhone. They haven't really innovated with anything they've done after the S3, heck the software has gotten worse and more bloated since the S3 release.

Software is the only thing that's not been great. Everything else they have improved and made key areas of improvement. Personally I don't think there's a better phone as a complete package than my note device. Obviously that's down as personal choice for my needs.

Can't really speak for the s5

If it's a choice between metal or removable battery it's removable all day. One of my favourite loves of this phone.

This. That's more important to me than having a metal chassis. I'd be very upset if they made a uni body phone and therefore eliminated the removable battery.

I personally don't have a problem with touch wiz.

As someone who started off with the original galaxy note which is the same generation as the S2 and have since had the S4, Note 3 and now S5 I'd have to disagree. I'd say they have come a long way in terms of software experience and stability. My original note was laggy as hell. It crashed and froze all the time. Overheated, switched itself off, apps force closed all the time and battery life was poor. My S5 has none of these problems. It's stable and smooth to use.

They haven't "loosed" me.

Can you give specific examples of how touchwiz is worse on the S5. Go on.

I've owned all Galaxy S series, I also owned a note 3 between the S4 and S5.

What was so innovative about the S3 over previous and later iterations?

What do you consider innovative?

I love my S5, it has been perfect so far.

I might consider the Note 4, but I immediately loved the feel of the S5 in my pocket compared to the Note 3, and I had more phone specific issues with my note than my S5, the battery last longer on my S5 than the Note and the screen looks so much better.

I will never buy a Samsung again to be honest, I love the feeling of a metallic phone , and the build quality is one of a few reasons why I am going to move back to the iPhone 6 when it comes out.

However I will never ever get a Samsung again so long as they keep their design, touch whizz and shoddy build quality.

I had the note 3, touch wizz slowed down and crashed a lot after some updated, it got even more bloated, that fake chrome paint scratched off after a few months and I was just seriously pissed off because I loved the concept of it to be honest. A major thing for me as well is even after kit Kat had been out for almost a here, I still didn't get the update when I eventually sold it and got a nexus 5.

Design is good, but I just can't stand the same lame build quality on all of Samsung's phones.

I like small bezels, but with such a big screen and phone it's really uncomfortable to reach to those tiny capacitive buttons on the bottom.

They're too small on a too small bezel on a too big phone.

It felt awkward when I used the Note 3. I need the buttons more easily accessible and not that far at the bottom.

And Touchwiz... and an AMOLED display... those two combine together give me nightmares :eek:

But then I have to buy it from a 3rd party, non Samsung dealer. And no LTE on the international phones brought over to the States.

Why doesn't Samsung just sell their own freaking phones on their own official website, like others do ? And not just the Verizon one

Apple sells the iPhone 5S directly on their own website;
http://store.apple.com/us/buy-iphone/iphone5s/16gb-space-gray-unlocked

HTC sells their One on their official website;
http://shopamerica.htc.com/cell-phones/productdetail.htm?prId=42976

Samsung should sell their S5 and Note 4 unlocked and contract free on their very own website, with LTE bands for U.S. carriers like ATT and T-Mobile, or Sprint.

It would be great for Samsung to sell their phones from their own website! But it is fairly easy to get an international version from any number of big online retailers. I had a blue octa-core Galaxy S5 with the Exynos processor. It was very fast! It also got 4G LTE speeds here in AZ on AT&T. I got mine from a guy on CL for I think it was $350. Great deal I resold it and made almost $100.

Do the newer AMOLED displays still have the burn issue?

Just found today that my SGS3 screen has it

LG also does not sell direct in the US so meh. I mean I'd love to for all these companies to sell direct, but it's not really that gripeworthy. In terms of design language, I think we would have seen it in the S5 or he S5 Prime if there was going to be a major change.

wow really? I know for sure the GS4 Octa was 3g only in the US. That's good to hear.

I honestly don't see what the appeal of a "metal" phone is. The Note 3 is well made IMO, as well made as any "metal" phone out there. It's not like the iPhone 5 has that much of a premium feel to it because of the metal. IMO the last truly "rolex" feeling phone out there was the iPhone 4 with it's glass back, that truly felt like a luxury phone. Otherwise it kind of puzzles me why people throw away functionality for those huge bezels and weak OS.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but touch wiz is pretty fast for me. It does stutter from time to time, but it's no more of an annoyance or an occurrence rate than an iOS app force closing. The chrome surround on mine doesn't have a blemish on it, and mine is naked/no case, although I will say I'm NOT a big fan of the chrome surrounds and wish it was just black and blended with the phone. I'd definitely give the nod to the Note 3 faux leather back durability compared to the Nexus 5 backing which would scratch if you just looked at it.

I've also been pretty happy with my Samsung Note 3 as well. No issues with lag or crashes. In fact I had more crashes with each of my iPhones than any of my Samsungs phones combined and I've had 5 models of Samsungs S & Note phones . Crashing/Freezing on an iPhone was almost inevitable on a weekly basis. I'm glad there are other choices besides iPhones and other options to find a better phone for my needs.
I welcome all new phones regardless who makes them.
Choice is Good.

I will be deciding between the iphone 6 and note 4. I was initially leaning toward returning to ios for the first time since 2010 but after buying an iphone 5 to try it out and experiencing problems Iam very gun shy. we'll have to see what is offered this fall

Eh, not a fan of the look. I do like that it's thinner, though, and the fact they didn't increase the screen size.
