Samsung just took the wraps off the Galaxy Alpha:

http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-unveils-metal-framed-galaxy-alpha-available-september#comments

I decided against starting a new thread, since I'm sure the inevitable, "It looks like an iPhone" thread will be created soon enough, but it seriously does look like an iPhone. No other way to put it really.

I wonder if the Note 4 will also have the metal frame. Thoughts?

I like it but yes it does look like an iPhone.

Still not a big fan of how Samsung does the back of their phones. Their cameras are just ugly as hell. Maybe its the square shape versus the more sleek looking circle shapes for me.

I dunno. Always been a pet peeve about Samsung phones for me.

I will likely stick with the note 4 but would be really annoyed if they got rid of removable backs. Just couldn't get used to a smaller screen.

I'm only using my S5 until the note 4 comes out. Then I'll be passing onto my boyfriend. He's got my note 3 now. If I don't like the note 4 I'll just swap back with my boyfriend.

I'm doubting they will change the notes winning formula. It's not for me, but it is a piece of work.

Though the alpha is scary with no removable or sd card.

I believe the Alpha does have a removable battery, just no expandable storage. I recall reading about the battery, just can't recall where I read it today--most articles are unclear but if you look at the rear panel, you can see the little indent in the top left corner used to pry the panel off.

It is a good thing it has a removable battery as it is rather small at 1,800mAh.

That looks a little more well done and classy than the Note 4, does anyone really like that god-awful gaudy chrome surround?!? I understand if some like the contrast of some silver, but for the love of god make it brushed aluminum or something and not something that screams chrome plastic. It looks like it should be advertised in a store for chrome car wheels.

the Galaxy Note 4 will apparently come with a 5.7-inch, 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution (Quad HD) Super AMOLED display, and will be powered by two processors, depending on the version -- either a 2.5GHz, quad-core Snapdragon 805 (SM-N910S) or an octa-core Exynos 5433 with four 1.3GHz Cortex-A53 and four Cortex-A57 cores (SM-N910C). If these specs prove to be the real then, then the Note 4 is also on path to becoming the first Android device with 4GB of RAM, not to mention that the 16-megapixel camera will apparently sport an OIS gizmo (Optical Image Stabilizaiton).

If they made a google play edition Note 4 I'd be all in!

Without having to ROM,root, jailbreak, code crunch or whatever other work arounds that are needed to enjoy KitKat; its not even an option with Samsung/ATT/Touchwiz on board.

Sounds like some sexy specs though!

Well, it's the end of AMOLED phones for me I guess.

Today I went to a store to try again the SGS5 thinking of buying it and guess what?

All the four SGS5 that were there had the burn issue! And it was pretty severe.

Those phones are in demo mode always, so they've had their screen on 12 hours a day 6 days a week since the SGS5 release.

I could see the homescreen icons "shadow" always in the background (inside the stock web browser, Chrome and every app with a light background. On apps with dark backgrounds like the Samsung stock apps it can't be seen).

I couldn't believe all the four SGS5 had this issue, just like my SGS3.

So I guess I won't even buy the Moto X+1 if it has also an AMOLED display. Between this and the oversaturated colors it's definitely the display tech I hate the most. IPS or LCD only for me from now on.

Note 4 will also keep the AMOLED display.

Thats is weird...I have never seen a S5 or N3 with any kind of burn issues......

Sensamic...you have officially become the MR Alternatives forum sequel to Onthecouchagain (for those of you who've been reading this subforum long enough to remember Couch). ;)

You both have near impossible to please standards and I worry you'll never find a suitable device. And if anyone is also a reader of Android Central, you'll might be aware that Couch still hasn't found a phone that meets his needs as his high hopes for the Nexus 5 fell short as well.

And just to be clear Sensamic, I'm just bustin' your balls a little, certainly nothing mean spirited intended, was actually a fan of Couch's perspective and enjoyed some lively debates with him. He was constantly picking apart every new device released and you reminded me of him.

LOL....i was thinking the same thing! I remember Couch too.......He was a good guy and loved to debate and kept it civil.......But never met a device that he would pick apart to find a reason for not getting it! :)
