So cameras are practically equal.

Who zooms 100%?

Nope. When image quality is a toss. I'll take the one with more megapixels. More flexibility for cropping. More importantly the Note 4 has OIS for video as well, not just for still pics. It also has 4K video. And to top it off, being able to have a 128GB SD card holding all that media is the icing on the cake.

When you throw in price (for those of us that buy our phones outright) and are contemplating the 6 Plus or Note 4, the difference is comical.

32 GB Note 4: $800 (CANADA)

16 GB iPhone 6 Plus: $860 (CANADA)

Or another way to see it, the 32 GB Note 4 cost $50 more than a 16 GB iPhone 6.

Sorry, but this is laughable.

In the us it is 850 for the 64 gig 6+.... Microsd is great but it is limited on android now. So native storage counts.

The note 4 may be cheaper. But you get what you pay for.

I may very well get the note. So let's be logical.

Apple ecosystem, ios , offers the best apps. Period. No debating that. Android has geat apps, but ios tends to be better. Need examples? I'll give them. No
Problem.

Note 4 has more feature out of the box..... But your stuck with touchwize.

Give me note 4 with stock android and you have a killer device.

Went into BB today to check out the note, and compared it to my 6 plus.

The screen on the note seemed way warmer and yellow than my 6 plus.

From what I have been reading though, the screen should come off as cooler because of the AMOLED and saturation.

Is this simply the test units? or should i expect this, because I prefer a cooler screen much more

OK, please tell me what that means. I'm being serious. Help me understand why a phone with a metal frame, magnesium brackets, 2K AMOLED screen (a lot more expensive than old LCD tech), standard 32 GB of storage, and 3 GB of RAM costs less than a phone of lesser hardware? Now if you tell me iOS is what adds to the extra cost, then no need to go further. I won't get into subjective values. So if you want logic, leave out the subjective points and make a case. I'm a manufacturer's worst nightmare, I don't get emotionally attached to my purchase. I stick with the facts. This is why I left windows phone. Super smooth running OS, but severely lacking hardware. And just like that, I'm out. Looking forward to real hardware worth the price. Again, don't want Android vs iOS thing. FACTS are all I care about. As soon as consumers accept subjective costs to the cost of their purchase, then they're left at the whim of the manufacturer. Sorry, not this guy.

Why dont you guys stop ****ing bickering about iOS vs Android, and provide feedback to those of us who have actual questions about the Note 4.

Okay go for it. Give us some examples. :)

I don't understand, the simple reason that on Android most apps offer more options than on ios and are more flexible in regards how data is shared make it better.

People always claim that apps are buttery smooth on ios and on Android are laggy but that's not my experience, I can't comment on games since I don't bother with serious game on my phones mostly tetris and flapping games here lol and they run the same.

On top of my head the only thing ios does better right now it's backups, native backup world's great and Google yet to implement something as simple.

Yeah was just thinking this myself tbh. Why does everything end up product a v product b. In a thread about Note 4, I just want to hear about the Note 4. Not petty squabbles. If I want versus info I too would look for a separate thread about it, rather than just turn EVERY thread into the same thing. It's soooooo boring and annoying.

Agreed, one of the last bastions of differences between the OS'es and why I will continue to have an android device :)

I agree. I see little to no difference in the cross platform apps that I use. There are also plenty of apps that are just on iOS and just on Android that I wish were on both platforms.

I will tell you all one set of apps that work way better on my Note 3 than the 6 plus I have been trying out for the past week...Third party keyboards! They are absolutely horrible on the iPhone right now, nearly unusable. Can't resize them, corrective text works horribly, they crash and show up as a blank or not at all....I am basically relegated to still using the stock keyboard with no swipe for now.

There is one really good example of how the Android apps are much better than on iOS.

Wow. After viewing that video, I wonder why anyone would bother with a case for this phone.
irl there is some sort of uneven surface or just a tiny grain of a stone and a point load (pressure) will break the screen... or damage the cover...

"Turning to image quality, it's fair to say that you can expect excellent results from both phones during the day. In fact, it's really hard to put either in the lead as they're so close in terms of reproducing the overall composition in front of them with all its caveats. But caveats they have. Indeed, while both phones offer dynamic scenes, they boost colors slightly – the iPhone 6 Plus churns out snaps that are slightly warmer than in reality, while the Note 4 does the opposite, and captures scenes that are a bit colder than ideal. That said, both deviate from reality so slightly that it's actually a question of taste more than anything else. Thankfully, noise is also essentially negligible with both. The only area of no contest is details – the Note 4's larger photos offer visibly more fine information if you zoom in to 100%.

Indoors, the two devices again offer great results, but we found that the iPhone 6 Plus produces slightly brighter shots. On the other hand, however, color reproduction, while excellent on the whole, is a bit lacking in comparison with the Note 4, as hues look a bit faded and washed out when put next to shots from the Samsung phablet. Again, do keep in mind that we're talking about very small deviations and inadequacies here.

Thanks man. I had read that actually, but I am hoping for a more professional review from like an actual camera sight or something. One that talks about shutter speeds, autofocus speeds etc. camera on the phone is super important to me as I have kids and am always reaching to my phone to take shots of things that I would otherwise miss capturing. Low light/indoor pics are especially important, and my Note 3 really let me down here. Took too long to focus and snap a picture, and often would come out too blurry and unusable especially with indoor shots.

Nice! Got to love getting a phone early.

In terms of examples, should I leave games out of it? Not much comparison there, at least for now. I mean... iOS is starting to get ports like bioshock. It's impressive... But not everyone games...and android has its share.

iOS has some really good exclusives, like fantastical 2. A big one for me if pdf expert. Compare any android pdf reader to that... And it will be ugly. This is one of the areas were iOS clearly outpaces android. I wish readlle or developers like them would consider developing for android.

Then there are basic apps, like yahoo sports and ESPN score enter. Those apps got complete redesigns and new features months before android.

iOS tends to get apps sooner, they tend to reach a certain level of polish quicker, and usually stick to a nice design language.

Android fully has its own advantages. No question, and google service integration is s big one. The native Gmail app is the arguably the best mobile email app, period.

Hopefully, one day, android will catch up in the areas above , like it has everything else. That's would be awesome... And I am hoping android l is a if step towards that.

Anyway... It would also be great if smashing completely redesigned touchwize. Samsung is the only manufacturer would can enjoy ten same supply and control as apple. Motorola has already shown that one can use android and still out together fully cohesive experience with fast updates. Samsung should follow... What a great day that would be, eh?

I will not debate about OS.

Cost? Well I tried the ip6 at $649 with 16gb and it didn't thrill me to keep it. I now have the second gen Moto X for $499 with same storage and bigger AND better display. It ain't going back, I like it as much as my 1st gen.

Gave up on the Plus as well and I am getting the Note 4.

Guess I am just an android smartphone kind of guy.

Snaps? I did not take any at all with either iPhone or either of the Xs either.

Quoting the paragraph. No one zooms 100%

Correct. Outside when editing even on an 8mp image, no one views them at the size a 100% view would produce. Not saying one wouldn't print a large size image from either phone but if you set out to do so with either, that's probably not the best decision.

Means it takes more detailed photos. It's a good thing if you crop your photos.

The Note with higher MP will allow for better cropping but when you crop you will also enlarge the flaws in the Notes image processing which are not as a result of the camera but that of the jpeg processing the software is doing. Notes tend to over sharpen and process images. Not badly though.

Overall I doubt it will make a huge difference. It will be pretty equal in the long run. Iphone takes better low light, note take more detailed picture.

^^ fair summary.

How is the micro SD limited? I use one on my Note 3 with Kit Kat and it's just fine.

I'd be interested in the apps you see differences in.

You already know you're not stuck with using touchwiz so I don't follow your comment.

^^ grab a DSLR and a small speedlight and be done with it. No phone is going to offer shutter speeds and exposure through a flash to capture a moving subject like a child indoors in what would be deemed a good photo. Indoor low light often will lead to shark-eyes and photography is about capturing light and all about the eyes.

When both you and your child are in the back row during a performance, you do what you have to do.

I see your point but in the end a phone is the wrong device for many reasons, not just zoom factor. I'd rather use a dedicated camera or if you're into it at least one of the Sony QX series units.

My phone just shipped. I got my tracking from TMO and should be here on Mon. So excited and anyone get there tracking yet?

I go hiking a lot in the mountains. I see wild life all the time. Deer elk, bears, squirrels... You name it. I cannot always get close for the shot. I take the best shot I can and zoom and crop it later.

I hear ya, but cell phone cameras are not what I would take unless you're shooting landcape shots or macros/close ups. Personally if you're combining photography and hiking, get a good bridge camera with a decent zoom or at least a small pocket one with a decent zoon like the Canon SX700 HS. YMMV on brand and model but my point is to show you an option that is far better than a phone yet small and offers no issue to carry around.

I agree, but sometimes perfection is the enemy of good enough. Otherwise, all these phone companies wouldn't be in a camera arms race.

I know there are way better choices for photography. But my needs and choices dictate my smartphone come close to filling that need for me.
My IP6 has a great camera....but my GS5 with 16MP and wider viewing lens better fits my needs. I am looking forward to getting the Note 4 with 16MP and OIS and wider viewing lens. I can't wait to test it out!

"perfection is the enemy of good enough"

That applies to both of you when it comes to the use of a cell phone as a camera. Not saying you can't but for either of you to debate the quality of the camera on either the iPhone 6 vs the Note series in a cropping or zoom situation isn't really applicable considering you both are settling for a device that is out of place for the needs you're using it for. However good that need fits each of you. Again, everyone is entitled to what "good enough" means to them. That's cool, carry on.

To hold either phone or any phone to those situations is not appropriate when it comes to judging them for their intended use. Neither Apple nor Samsung is in a race to provide a camera with the ability to work in place of a lens with the proper focal length.
