Been reading the reviews and most have been relatively positive.

Seen some pics and this would bug the heck out of me.

The International version of the Note 4 seems to have root....
The carrier versions.....might be more difficult.
That is why I said a month and not a day. :)

But seriously, the same was said about the S5 and an AT&T root was out in a about a month. Yea there was a whoping $2,000 "bounty" for anyone to discover a root... but discovered it was.

Using Google Now with the screen off and locked is also possible with the Note 4. Battery life doesn't seem to be affected.

So... any Note 4 owners tempted right now by the Nexus 6? I guess not many mainly due to the bigger size of the phone.

Been reading the reviews and most have been relatively positive. Ars Tech was less impressed though.

what a terrible pic, where did you get it? any better quality image that you could actually see something which would look real and show the possible problem?

And that is not a case guys. That is the metal trim around the phone. This is showing the now infamous gap. No big deal really. But I agree it is annoying, especially as it tends to not be uniform all around the bezel. Yes it is there. I have seen it in almost every model I have looked at at the 3 different Best Buys I went to.

Doubt unless you took a pic like that you would notice it honestly.

This will possibly be my first android device, and im wondering if with a root, you can make it look more like a stock android you would find on a nexus or something similar.

If making your home screen look like stock Android is what you want, you don't have to root. Just download the Google Now launcher and you have a stock Android looking phone.

I guess I meant more of a way to get rid of touchwiz, which ive heard so many bad things about, and make it more like stock.

Also, how long would it be to expect to see Android L running on an ATT Note 4?

If... rather when there is root you will be able to install a custom ROM that is devoid of Touchwiz.

However, most of the bad things you have heard about about are exactly the things you never have to see. On the Note 4 speed is good right out of the box. But you can still speed it up if you want it even faster:

Some of the nice features of the Note 4, like those involving multi-window, the stylus, camera features, etc. are part of TouchWiz. So if you go plain Android you lose all of that.

I'm a potential Note 4 owner tempted by the Nexus 6. I haven't seen any comparison shots of the 2 devices, but the Nexus 6 looks like a smoking device! I'd be curious to see how much bigger it is than the Note 4. With relatively smaller bezels, it shouldn't be much bigger.

Simply download google now launcher from google play and you will e as close as you can get without rooting or losing spen functionality.

Touchwiz 2014 is not so bad. Indeed the launcher part is flexible and offers many features not in googles own launcher for arranging your app drawer. Likewise it shares many aesthetic cues in 2014 also and is very fast and smooth. Give it a chance first. Its just seemingly cool to hate touchwiz and many of the haters haven't even tried new incarnation of it.

my advice to you is to try the new touchwiz. It is much improved this year. Try it and see if you like it.

I'm personally going to use touchwiz and see if i like it better. I used nova on my note 3 but will be trying touchwiz on the note 4. It looks better and seems better from all accounts.

Nah, no stylus means limited function IMO. It's also priced much higher than the Nexus 5 and I think it will lose a large part of its appeal at that point, there are already other trade offs like non swappable batteries and no expandable memory.
