i set both my left thumb and right index fingers. i found that you have to go slow...after i got used to it its working pretty well. 95% hit rate with the index and about 80% with the thumb because that one is sideways.

Depending on the starting point of the swipe makes a difference and yes the speed comes into play as well.

A swipe straight down with my thumb works a very high percentage of time, not as well if my thumb isn't straight.

Even though I am new by posting on here for the first time, I've been viewing posts for years ;).

Anyways my iPhone 6 Plus is coming in the mail in 3 days after a long 4-5 week wait, and during that time I lost that "I can't to have it" now my mind is tingling with the idea of getting a Note 4 or Nexus 6. I feel like I am in between of loving Apple and Android. I've tried android before and loved it, just my music is linked to iTunes, and so are a few apps but I have an iPad.

Anyone else going through the same thought process as I am?

I'm in a similar boat as you. My 6 plus is finally coming on Thursday and I have a Note 4 I can play with. While the Note 4 is really nice, I have a feeling I'll stick with the 6 plus. Maybe I'm just too lazy to use all of android's features :p

Can't go wrong with either phone!

By mistake at first was that I wasn't swiping my entire thumb over the home button. Got the hang of it after a day and now it's pretty much accurate all the time.

Yeah I decided to stay with my iPhone 6 Plus as well :) sometimes overthinking things in life can make things more complicated then it has to :p

Anybody just use the fingerprint scanner when out? Been switching it off at home

i use "delay lock" to bypass the pin lockscreen when at home with my note 3 but it doesn't support fingerprint lock screen...is there any other similar app that supports the fingerprint scanner?

I'm disappointed in the finger print sensor so far.

I was at first but I have now gotten it to work just about 100% of the time. For now that means using my thumb and swiping straight down.

I retrained it and paid attention to the position of my thumb before swiping down. In my case I used the first line/crease/whatever below my thumbnail as a reference. With that right in the middle of the home button I swipe down. I was able to train it quickly like this. When I unlock in that same position it always works.

I then set my Note 4 to lock every time the screen went off, or I switched it off with power button. That forced me to get perfect with fingerprint unlocks.

I am going to try to get the same results with a sideways thumb down swipe, but I am not there yet. I can live with what I have now.

I'd report on my fingerprint scan success, but because both AT&T and UPS can't get their head out of their @sses, I still don't have mine. Unreal

Honestly, I don't get the whole fingerprint unlock thing. If/when I have it on a phone that offers it, I'll likely stick with my simple 4 digit code. Works every time.

I was the opposite: I preordered from Best Buy and they didn't get enough in to even cover preorders. AT&T store right by me had plenty. I finally plead my case in person to a Samsung rep in BB and they suddenly had one in while (I had preordered black). I took the white.

I wanted the $200 trade-in deal from Best Buy as they gave me a $200 gift card for my original 2007 iPhone 2G. Sweet.

I won't use a 4 digit pin, but even if I did I am faster with fingerprint lock already. To the point I am not bothered with having my phone lock immediately when turned off. With a PIN that used be a real pain.

I still have a passcode as a backup. And as a backup to that I can unlock with my Google credentials.

It seems my Note 4 is slow in bringing up recent apps via the left capacitive button. I have animations down to .5s and have the news app pane on the launcher off. Still, my Note 2 running an AOSP 4.4.4 ROM, is faster when calling up recents.

Is it just me?

I thought I heard a rumor about Android having "safe" zones where it wouldn't ask for a password/pin/fingerprint if you were in a safe designated WiFi spot like your home or work. I wonder if anything like this is planned for Lollipop as I'm finding the fp sensor kind of useless if I have to use 2 hands and swipe so perfectly. I think the issue is that I'm constantly turning my phone on and it has to be near instant in any position. It actually has me missing my ip5s phone. Although in all reality my Note 3 had no fp sensor so I should be used to it.

If it worked the way it should you would love it. By the time you are done getting the perfect ingredient of events to fingerprint unlock it, you would have already entered in a passcode or pattern.

I have no idea if it's being implemented in Lollipop but I used to use Delayed Lock to mimic the exact scenario you're looking for. I think I also initially did something similar using Tasker and Secure Settings, can't recall exactly as it's been a while.

Very nice, will have to check it out.

Have all of you received that first small stability update? It was also supposed to improve battery life as well.

Did you preorder? I preordered 9/21 and it went backordered and I still haven't got a shipping notification... all while they have them in stores and people who preordered 5 days ago are getting theirs.

On launch day went to amazon, selected Saturday next day delivery, got it at 9am the next morning. Love it. Immediately ordered a case and screen protector and got it Sunday morning at 9am. Amazon rules. Didn't even know they have Sunday delivery, that's amazing. I learned my lesson on pre-orders.

You're not Verizon right? Because they're not releasing until the 23rd if so.

Judging by BB's Facebook page the Note launch is a steaming pile of fail, where pre-orders oversold deliveries. Wouldn't surprise me if the carriers did the same.

at&t. Luckily I'm pretty cool with it... Im also getting $200 for iPhone 4 if that goes through. I also want my upgrade fee waived and possibly some bill credit for their mess up.
