How strange. I've also got s voice disabled but still notice lag.
I think it has to do with how many apps I have open, as if there's only 1 or 2 it opens almost instantly. When it's bogged down with 20+ there's a noticeable lag.
It's not a deal breaker or anything but it is mildly annoying if I'm in a hurry to do anything.

I don't think it has anything to do with that, cause mine runs fast regardless of how many open apps. I think it's an animation bug, probably something to do with ram cache.

The note 4's brother is arriving

Samsung can confirm that the UK is one of the markets that has been chosen to range the Galaxy Note Edge.

The device will be available to buy from selected retailers from Friday 28th November, with the option to pre-order from Samsung eStore and Carphone Warehouse on Friday 14th November.

I think I know why the lag. If you open recent from any app it will have slight delay as it needs to rearrange and bring the current app window to the front.

But if you open it from launcber or any apps that don't show up in recent it is near instantaneous.

Are the added features on the Note4 going to be sent out to the Note 3 as well? I'm going to wait a few months before getting it as my second phone (let the price drop down a bit) so wanted to know..

There are not many new features unless those hardware related.

I've been googling every few days to see if they will announce when the pink note 4 will arrive. For anyone waiting for it, any news? I hear it's usually a few months after the the initial launch, but not sure if I want to wait that long.

For me it is the number of apps in the switcher. There is no delay at all with no recent apps (none), slight delay with only one or two apps and progressively longer as more apps are added.

Yeah this is what I'm seeing. If I clear the app list it works instantaneously, if I have a lot of apps then it slows down.

I've just about given up waiting for the gold one to come to my carrier. I suppose it will have to be the white one next week.

Was watching a review of it on youtube, and it said that now you have multi tasking apps that you can pin to the background and access them over running apps etc...

Just ordered one, should be with me tom.

I have already got a 6 Plus which I am going to sell IF I get used to Note.

I also have the 6 Plus and ordered the Note 4 today - it will be delivered tomorrow.

I was an Android user before the 6 Plus, so I'll probably stick with the Note 4 and sell the iPhone 6 Plus.

Any particular reasons as to why you are switching? For me personally Apple haven't done anything on the software side that utilizes the bigger screen better.

The thing that worries me about Note is the lag that a lot of people have commented on while doing basic things like scrolling.

There is no lag when scrolling. If there's any lag it's in the multitasking recent apps and from other reviews it appears iPhone has basic lag too

What did you do to reduce this lag?

Swipe down from the top in a diagonal motion from either the left or right sides.

This just does not work for me. Is there some setting that turns this feature on or off that I may need to set?

Thanks.

I was an Android (and iPhone) user before coming to the 6 Plus (S4/S5/Note3/M8/Nexus 5). Got the 6 Plus because the Note 4 was delayed in my country and the Nexus 6 had no pre-order date. No longer interested in Nexus 6 due to the reviews and still no pre-order date.

I find that Android is so much more customisable and not as 'locked down' iOS, however iOS has a nice clean interface and is great for those who don't want to play around with their phone. I also like the way updates are rolled out. I don't find the 6 Plus very innovative, but like the size (I prefer a 5.5" + screen as don't use phone for talking much, but lots of browsing and texting).

Note 4 was available this week and at a fantastic price (direct from Samsung as well!), so I finally got the chance to order this week.

I don't really think the Note 4 'lags' (well not what I consider as lag anyway - S4 'lags'). I'm not a fan of TouchWiz, so I will install Nova.

My phone was delivered this afternoon, but I've got my end of year medical exams until early next week, so I won't have a chance to get a new SIM and set the phone up till then.

i ordered a note 4(910C) after returning my moto x 2014. Haven't used a samsung phone in a few years, I really don't mind touchwiz, but i would prefer the "look" of stock.

Is there any deals going on right now? contract free...

So I saw the Note 4 today for the first time.

Great build quality (Samsung's best up to date). Felt really good and comfortable in the hand: solid, thin and light.

Then there's the screen. Wow. Never thought I'd notice the difference from 1080P but I did. On the G3 I didn't notice it being that superior, but on the Note 4 I did, and you guys know I'm not a fan of AMOLED displays. It was also really bright. Awesome screen.

Speakers. Very loud! I was impressed! Never heard such loud speakers inside a noisy store!

Overall speed is excellent. Even better than on my SGS5. TouchWiz looks even better.

Great phone overall. Really liked it. Oh, almost forgot! It also felt smaller than the Note 3. Maybe it was because it's more comfortable to hold. Didn't felt huge by any means.

Is it me or are there even less apps that support multiwindow now? I could have sworn that Twitter and Polaris used to be supported, but not anymore..it's a real shame and I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of rooting

I've thoroughly tested both apps on my Note4 with the absolutely essential MW-Pen App Enabler. both worK flawlessly. that is, you in no way need to root to run these apps in a window.

the iPhone lag caused by animation can entirely get ridden of by JB'ing and using NoSlowAnimations. I've been using it on all my iDevices.

Sadly it's hard to tell that because the images have been resized. But yeah - pretty much what we should expect because of the megapixel differential between the two.

What is important here - people need to remember this - that BOTH are excellent with differences/tradeoffs - but represent fantastic smartphone cameras.

(to those here bickering constantly in threads) ... People need to stop bickering trying to measure 'device penis size' and actually just enjoy these great devices on as per device basis. They all have good points and not so good points, just enjoy the damn things and stop feeling so insecure you need to pee fight in forums.......

Just don't forget that the stock Camera app applies a HUGE amount of (in many cases, unnecessary) color noise reduction and TONS of sharpening afterwards. I in no way would take stills with this app, it produces so bad results.

Get for example Snap Camera HDR, set the JPEG output quality to Best and sharpening to 0 and you'll have a far superior camera than before...

Lol I was thinking the same thing. My arteries were clogging just lookibg at the picture.

OFF: it's not at all certain that saturated fat is THAT bad...

The in trying to put weight on crowd are a bigger wind up the the calorie counting crowd :p

Some of us can't look at a dinner like that without putting on weight. :(

Swear to god i can put weight on eating lettuce all day ... Not fair

Why don't you try the no-carbs diets? In my own practice, they turned out to be the best WRT quickly losing weight without feeling hungry.

I have everything syncing and working? Still fiddling with the camera app. Do you guys take pics with HDR on or off?

Regrettably, HDR isn't as capable as on iOS as it only takes one physical shot, and applies very strong shadow pulling afterwards. This also means that, if you expose the highlights and/or manually apply negative exposure compensation before shooting and, then, in pp, just pull the shadows (and, if you did apply negative exposure compensation during shooting, compensate it too), you'll have exactly the same image as with the HDR mode of the stock Camera app.

I can post a very detailed explanation of this if there's interest - I've made tons of experiments with the N4 camera.

I am considering an note 4, but never had an android device. Will the note 4, or any android device play iTunes purchased music and videos or maybe I would be better off sticking with iOS? Thanks

Videos: Apple DRM'ed videos can't be played back. (And you can't really remove the DRM either.)

Music: sure, as it's not DRM'ed, it's playable.

It's pretty hard being mostly vegetarian and going on a no carbs diet (I have tried).... Even plain old veggies cooked are carbs even if you cut out pulses, grains and flours.... You inevitably end up on processed man made protein shakes and I'm just not going there ...

Exercise and balanced diet even with carbs is still the best lifestyle :)
