So today my note 5 was lost then stolen. Anyway to remote wipe? I tried using Android device manager, but it says it needs to be set up on the phone itself. Also, I never set up anything with Knox.

Anything else i can do remotely? Thanks.

So sorry to hear that Fernandez21....what carrier is it on? The carrier might be able to do something. be sure to have them disable the sim card too no one can pop in in a another phone and use your data.

Yeah, already disabled that sim and got a new one from t-mobile and using my S7 Edge again.

What sucks is because android doesn't do automatic backups like the iPhone does, the most recent backup I have done myself is 3 weeks old, so lost all my call logs and text messages sent and received since then. At least my photos were automatically backed up with Google photos.

It was the AT&T model, but using on t-mobile. Not sure how insurance works, I have it on AT&T which is where I bought it, but was using on T-Mobile at the time it was lost/stolen.

I do have it locked with my fingerprints and long password, but still kinda worried they might find a work around and get access to all my stuff.

I never set it up on my Android phones but they all show up on the website...

https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager
Yeah, it showed up about 15 mins before I got back, but then whoever has it turned it off, I guess because it got a notification saying it was found or because the store manager was calling it at the time. Then it said unavailable for the past couple of hours, so I went ahead and cancelled that SIM card and got the new one. Which sucks because when they eventually turn it on it won't have a data connection, so the only way I'll be able to track it again is if they either put another sim in it or connect to wifi, both unlikely since its passcode protected. So it's probably the last I see of that phone, unless by some miracle they realize they can't do anything with it and return it to the store I lost it in.

Well that at least will prevent them from a lot of stuff, even wiping will be difficult as it will prompt them for your account details if the factory reset.

Such a horrible thing to happen :(

Yeah, I don't get why people still do that, I mean it's really hard to get into these phones now, even our gov had trouble getting in, you'd think it wouldn't be worth it to them. They'll probably just throw it away or maybe sell for parts.

They will just sell it overseas from what I have heard.

They still have to successfully wipe it and get it at a notable stage even if it's IMEI is dirty. If you have previously password secured the phone, even after a normal factory reset it will prompt for users account before allowing fresh setup. They will likely have to circumvent security check via flashing g a new firmware. It's possible but does require some effort. Still annoying though :(

I hope you set up a Samsung account. And I also hope you checked off Reactivation Lock in security settings. This stops anyone from activating your phone. Samsung also backs up your call logs and messages automatically. With all that said, you just go to: findmymobile.samsung.com to remotely lock or wipe your phone and SD card. Hope it works out.

I thought they could flash a new image and it wouldn't matter. Like a different regional image? Not sure but it sure sucks. They is a special place in hades for those fockers!

Sevanw suggestion to go to the Samsung mobile site helped. Unfortunately I didn't have any of the Samsung automatic backups active, but it will wipe the phone next time it connects.

Wish I had know about Samsung's services before, set them all up on my edge now.

So, it looks like my insurance does cover the note, but it has a $200 deductible. So should I do this and get another note, or should I just save this money and use it towards the Note 6/7 coming out in a couple of months? I was going to sell the note 5 anyway to get the new model when that came out, but at $200 not sure it's worth it. What has been everyone's experience when selling your used Notes? Never had the chance to do this, as my note 3 and 4 were given to family members and my note 5 stolen. I know with my other android phones it has always been much more difficult to get a good return, especially when compared to my iPhone's.
