That was the Exynos 7422 - but we ended up with the same 7420. Though I would not be surprised if some regions get the 7422 despite not being mentioned today. Just like I'm sure some select countries will get the dual sim edition.

Thanks, so that sucks, the Note 5 didn't get the 7422. That would at least make the small 3,000mAh battery a better decision. Right now, I just the Note 5 as being a larger S6, with a little bigger battery and S-Pen. Nothing more.

Typically the Note gets the next gen processor upgrade over the S line, this may be the first time ever, the Note sticks with the same processor as the S. Last year the S5 had the Snapdragon 800, the Note 4 got the better 805.

The processor in the note 5 won't be matched until next year.

People...stop finding small problems. Get it or don't.

Aye I think the lack of a processor bump is unprecedented compared to the previous S
The processor didn't need to be bumped. Combine that processor with then much, much faster ram and storage compared to other phones. What's the problem?

It not when it is so obvious. Even people around you will be able to confirm this.

As a neutral to any brand I can tell you Nokia is a lower tier brand than Samsung. It's only the few Nokia owners that will dispute it.

Believe me I am neutral to any brand but can tell you Nokia is a lower tier brand than Samsung.

I am not going to deny that Apple is THE premium brand in smartphones...but samsung all around is not a low tier brand. They are know for premium products...and I don't know anyone that considers the galaxy line to be "low tier".

None the less, you are entitled to your opinion. But my statement, that you can't make an argument, and then dismiss all counter arguments by saying said person is bais....its not a legit argument.

I could argue that samsung is know for class leading tech in all areas of its brand, and also know for high prices. That doesn't mean that your opinion is incorrect.

I don't want to come across biased myself...I just get tired of all these BS replies and arguments (not calling you out, just generalizing here).

I own an iPad air 2, macbook pro 13 (2015), and am currently using an iPhone 6+. I have used several other phones this year, including the galaxy s6 edge. Honestly...I am trying to decide between the note 5 and the future iPhone 6s+...hard decision, specially since I promised my wife I would keep the phone I choose for a year!

I predicted same processor as S6 and said it shouldn't be seen as a problem at all 30 pages ago ... Though I quickly was shot down for even suggesting it.

I am sure you were.

I feel like you have two types of people complaining about this processor.

1. The person who either wants to hate on the note 5 due to bias or buyers remorse. If they talk about how bad the phone is, then they feel less regret.

2. The person who is still caught up in the benchmark and spec wars of early android. Android is now more like iOS when it comes to specs. I mean, look at the new moto g. How can anyone say that runs anything but smooth? I know "touchwize sucks"..but it has gotten better and more streamlined.

Honestly, the 4gb of ram and faster read and write speeds are the few specs that will generate a significant difference to the user in day to day use. This is the most advanced phone on the market, tech wise, hands down. Nothing else is close.

Honestly...my biggest worry is the battery. If it can match the current iPhone 6+...then we got a real winner here.

Yep it's that extra 1gb that I'm most curious about as I think it will offer a very noticeable boost to the devices over the S6/S6e and address ram management issues some of us suffered from. With enough ram to do extra backgrounded apps reducing refreshing to a minimum, combined with the 7420 it will be an extremely speedy device to use in daily practice.

I'm sure for most people the 3,000mah battery will suffice but people have expectations of massive battery life in phablets. I predict it will be better than the S6 but not as good as Note 4. Those who need extra will likely have to look at external power pack if they are away from a power socket / wireless charger.

Well it looks like Samsung has a bit of a misstep in this release presentation. Not releasing in Europe is a big mistake imo. The edge plus being priced higher than the 6 plus is a mistake imo as well. So no sd slot, no removable battery, and so far no 128 gb option? Wow. Also that keyboard accessory looks hideous, and the battery is smaller. They really are opening the door for other android oems to hurt them even more.

Samsung seems so unfocused right now. Taking away features that their core audience valued while still releasing multiple variants of a flagship line and now not being logistically smart in their releases (s6 edge availability, no release in Europe). They even went back to directly comparing to Apple in their marketing, which it didn't work in the past and you're giving free press to Apple.

Some crazy posts in this thread. So much Samsung hate so much outage over a phone. So many self glorifying people and so may trolls.

Idk I think people felt Samsung really needed to hit a home run and as you've acknowledged that presentation left a lot to be desired. If you're in Europe and wanted these phones now you can't get it. Can leave a bad taste in your mouth. I'm sure the ram upgrade is nice (question is it is necessary for operation) but taking away sd, removable battery, shrinking the battery, and no mention of a 128 gb on the note series you don't see why people would be negative? Also the price of the edge imo would turn some away as well. Imo only the people with a Samsung bias would be really excited for these changes.

Really feel like xiaomi and meizu can really make their presence grow if the bigger android oems continue to do things like this.

I can't wait to try this...

SIDESYNC
Share across your devices
Work effortlessly between the Galaxy Note5 and most PCs or Macs.2 Quickly drag and drop photos and documents between devices. And even respond to a text or answer a call from your smartphone directly on your laptop.

Sounds exactly like Apple's AirDrop and continuity/handoff---which is a good thing (especially as it's compatible with PC and Macs), assuming it's implemented well and is reliable. I use all of that functionality across my Apple devices every day and love all of it.

I'm not "disappointed" but I think Note 5 is nothing special.

SoC is the same, 4GB RAM is super, but not a breakthrough as others have beat Samsung to the market with it.
Camera is the same, the only difference is software aid for OIS.
Charging; maybe it's big for some, but for me, I usually charge overnight, so I don't care about super charging. I also don't much care for a removable battery (although, it's always better when it's removable), but the loss of microSD slot is bad.
I like the super thin bezels.

Note was becoming Samsung's main flagship, but now it looks like it's going into a different direction and Galaxy S is, again, the flagship.

Besides that, I think devices just reached the point of small increments. Everything on a modern smartphone is great. So really, what can be add to make it exciting again? For me, at this point, it's camera and RAM. Nokia 808 PureView is still the king, I'd like a modern flagship to beat it. And the more RAM, the better. But again, those are just increments for most people.

At this point, I prefer LG G4 to all Samsung offerings.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!

Couldn't agree anymore, apart from the fact the new models have no removable battery's or SD card expansion and they won't launch the Note 5 in Europe till next year.
But when you have threads started in this forum with 'Crapsung' in it's title what else do you expect to read? Would be nice if the mods took action and changed the title of that obvious flaimbait thread?

Small 3,000mAh is a joke for a Phablet. And still the same processor as the S6, which is a first for a Note, not to get the next gen hardware after a S, it has never kept the same processor as the S before. The Note was the flagship, trend setter, not anymore.

Samesung went easy cheap route here, basically just a larger S6 with a Pen, no 7422 processor with everything integrated into one dye, which is way more efficient, and faster smoother.

Oh well, the Huawei Nexus will trump this phone anyways, just for not having Touchjizz, and will have a larger battery.

Tig Bitties.....we know you have a nexus 6 and love it.

No reason to trash another phone, when you honestly don't sound like you know what you are talking about.

The processor being cheap? Really? It is the most advance processor in the world, and there is a BIG chance it will be faster than the next nexus processor.

The next nexus won't be able to touch the speed of the storage and ram, UFS is the future.

The battery...we will see. That is the one thing I am weary of.

I had the nexus 6 for a good while....the battery was nothing special. I don't care about root, and etc. I want a phone that is great out of the box.

I thought I reads around the s6 launch that the cpu in it was at least 1-2 generations ahead of everything, if that is true then big whoop on that point

From what I understand, that is the truth.

The CPU is far ahead of anything out there...and will remain so for the rest of 2015. The A9 might challenge it...but I don't know if it will top it in multi core score...but will likely beat it in single core score. The GPU is its only weak point, being less powerful than the GPU on the snapdragon 810...but that is something that won't limit the phone for its foreseeable life. CPUs and GPUs are far outpacing anything developers are throwing at them at the moment.

Meh, color me unimpressed. It looks exactly like my Note 4 from the front. The metal frame and glass back are ok, but at this point is simply an entry level requirement for a flagship, certainly nothing even remotely new and fresh. It's a completely rehashed Note 4 otherwise, no innovation whatsoever, on the contrary there is a marked devolution with a smaller battery, no removable memory or battery.

Samsung really really needed to innovate to compete, there is just not much of a demand for a $900 flagship unless you are Apple. The edge concept was one such innovation, unfortunately it didn't have much functionality, just looks. The Note 5 would have been much more impressive if it had the curved edges. It's still baffling why they split the market and released both the Note 5 and S6 edge plus, why not just combine them and make a beautiful phone they could put all their muscle behind.

I predict 3 types of fail
1) Current Note owners will say meh, it's the same as my Note 4 why spend $900 to get more of the same?
2) Non Note owners wanting a phablet will wonder why the s6 edge plus didn't get a stylus, or why the Note 5 didn't get curved edges, in their confusion they will just end up getting an iPhone 6s plus.
3) Apple owners will have just as little desire to switch as when the Note 4 came out.

Anyway, I didn't plan on getting a Note 5 anyway. I'm still considering the edge plus, but man every time I use my Note 4 and the crappy hardware rears its ugly head I wonder if I want to put myself through that torture again. I'm hoping their QC has improved. But I won't buy at launch, 3 months should be sufficient to see them half price on swappa.
