My next theory what if going forward they scrap the S6 and just roll with S6 edge and edge plus

I could see that happening. .S6 sales were poor after all

Got my order in at Best Buy for Verizon . BB is giving away a free wireless charger.

I can only go with AT&T directly because Best Buy doesn't do 2-yr AT&T contracts anymore. I need the 2-yr deal for alternating the upgrade with a 2nd ghost line. Selling the Note 4 will cover the price of the Note 5 at least...

Yeah BB doesn't do 2 year contracts anymore. But their website will allow you to go through the process.....then they tell you in the store they can't do it. Bait and switch....
I git the black 64GB coming. Wanted the silver but it wasn't available. Will sell my N4 too along with my Nexus 6.

I can't help but wonder if Samsung is attempting to consolidate it's MULTIPLE phone production into just 2-3 offerings similar to Apple. I think it would help prevent the financial losses. I remember back in the day Apple had tonnes of projects and when SJ came back, he consolidated it to just a few products that they could perfect vs the throw spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks kind of deal.

I would almost predict that the Note gets amalgamated into the Galaxy (edge) line of their products and maybe a few entry/mid level phones to cover each market base, but face it, the Galaxy and the Note line are EXPENSIVE now compared to what they used to be. Not everyone wants to fork out that kind of cash for a phone.

So...checked this phone out at best buy and I think I am sold. The screen and design is gorgeous, just like the s6 serious...but it seems more so in its bigger form. The phone feels much smaller and easier to use with one hand compared to the pervious generation of note. It makes my iPhone 6+ feel huge by comparison. The spen seems really improved.

I was worried about battery life, and that is still something I am interested to see, in terms of reviews. But I ran into the district Samsung Rep, who has had the phone for 3 weeks. He says the battery life is great (Don't take his word for it, i know).

But I asked to see his phone, and I looked at his battery life stats. He had removed the phone from the charger at 5 am (it was 11 am when I looked at it), and the screen on time had been 59 minutes. He still had 88% left with an estimated 44h until discharge. Take that with a grain of salt, but my old galaxy s6 edge would have drop to 68% with similar usage.

He had location, google services, etc all enabled.

That's suggesting 8 hours SOT. Which would be close to miraculous.

Not saying it's not possible but hmm let's wait for the usual reviewers to test drive it.

I think all the reviews from people that actually buy and use the phone are going to be positive.

It's clear to me they scrapped it due to sales being so poor..has to be

Maybe not. If the focus group really did find that the responders' apathy toward the s pen (how can you not like the s pen?!) was true, that would explain the imminent release of the edge+. If it was just poor sales, they may have delayed the release of the edge+.

This is what so many have said for Samsung's strategy was to limit the number of devices.

Also, I agree, too, about the high prices of these flagships. They're getting a bit ridiculous, especially for yearly and bi-yearly upgrades. And, the fact that there are getting to be nice mid-tier alternatives that are considerably less expensive. In the not too distant future, even though they are the only ios co, this will hurt Apple, as well.

I agree, along with the fact carriers are starting to get away from 2 year contracts here in the U.S.

Ok, just got a chance to play with the Note 5 in best buy, and man is it nice, very comfortable in the hand and the edges aren't as sharp as the S6 Edge. The black model didn't have that blue reflection either, which looks better imo. The screen looks brighter than my Note 4 too.

One big improvement that I saw but hasn't been mention, is that the ui seems to take better advantage of the larger screen. So instead of everything scaled larger on the bigger screen, the icons and font seemed about the same size as the S6, so more info fit on screen. In the messaging app, you could see about 2 and half more conversations without having to scroll, same in contacts.

Samsung really did a crappy job showcasing this device yesterday, the hands on videos i saw last night got me more hyped up than their presentation. It is really a fantastic device.

I would be quite set on the S6 Edge+, if not for the price. I've heard that the 32GB will be £699, and that's beyond my price range. I understand that the Note 5 is less expensive, which would be ideal for me, as those were my initial plans. If only the Note 5 were available in the UK...
I don't know. maybe I'll get the S6. Speaking of which, where are the price drops for the S6?

Here are some comparison pictures between the Note 5 and my 4, as you can see, they even somehow made chrome more efficient with the screen realestate, not sure how they did that. And the color seems better on the 5 too, not as yellow as my 4.

The DPI is set higher, to fit more content on the screen. Typically this is done with root tweaks

Excuse me, I don't know why I put 59 minutes. Typo I guess. It was 39 minutes.
That sounds perfectly reasonable (about 5hrs SOT plus standby drain).

I guess 4-5 hours would be on par with my S6 times but with the bigger battery trading off against the larger display.

If that does turn out to be the case, I could use it fine as I'd be able to charge it if need be.

Being in Europe seems more of a concern right now, specifically the need for 5 minutes of calls in the country of origin to get worldwide SIM support that Samsung is fond of.

4-5 hours of screen on time is great for any phone. I would be happy with that.

Hopefully android M promise of doubling stand by times will be a reality.
