Are you going to a store to get it? I'm wondering if it will sell out quick in the stores.

I was going to go to the store but with the announcement today, I'm going to call in tomorrow @ 6am or use the website to order me a white 64GB.

I was talking about all Samsung locked devices that have a kernel build date after March.they patched the only root exploit and hard locked the phones to not be able to downgrade firmware to where root was available.

Thats why I'm still on 5.02 lol and yes we all know development nexus devices come with unlocked bootloader.even the Verizon galaxy nexus was unlocked and Verizon is super anal about locking devices.they even locked out service mode.

What carrier are you on and what device do you have? TMO S6 Edge has root for 5.1.1 and you can unlock the bootloader with TMO.

I mentioned TMO because you said all Samsung devices and hoping you're talking about the S6, lol.

If you're on Verizon which it sounds like you're, which you already know how bad and dev unfriendly they are.

Thanks, was not aware of that. So an International or T-Mobile Galaxy S6 running Android 5.1.1 doesn't have root ? Or the 5.1.1 update broke root ? That sucks.

Word is that Chainfire is hard at work for root on the Note 5, most think it will come fairly soon.

No just the phones that came with locked bootloaders can't have root.the international phones come ready to molest and are all rootable and even the kernel can be modified.

I'm stuck on stupid Verizon and need the Qualcomm modem for there cdma bands so can't use an unlocked bote 5 or gs6 :/

If you're on Verizon which it sounds like you're, they aren't very dev friendly unless you get a developer version, which you already know.

Seems T-Mobile is the only carrier to go with these days in the U.S. that aren't Nazi's. Why does only T-Mobile allow the freedom to root and unlock your bootloader ? Back in the day the ATT Note 2 had awesome development on XDA with tons of custom ROM's. And that ATT Note 2 could easily be rooted in a flash anytime.

That blows, frigging U.S. carriers :(

If I was to get a Note 5, I'd jump to T-Mobile.

I left AT&T (Note 2 was my last ever AT&T device) right before they started locking down all their bootloaders and went to TMO. I don't know why TMO does it but I hope its because they wanted to be different and wanted to get the crowds that like to root and mod their Android devices. That's what I tell myself, lol.

I agree :). And I also think T-Mobile treats their devices like an " International " phone the same way. A Galaxy Note 4 on T-Mobile is open and unlocked like a European Note 4.

F. off ATT for locking everything down now

Actually...unfortunately it is not. Their phones are locked and can only be unlocked after the phone is paid off and on ones plan for 40 days. Even their iPhones are locked...I know...I had to struggle to get them to unlock a iPhone 6 and a galaxy s6

They are more than willing to (they have to by law)....but my frustrations was primarily with the s6 edge. They have a app that, for me, would not work...and they had no other solutions for unlocking the phone.

Are we talking about the same "Unlocked" ? I mean open bootloader so the phone can have a custom Recovery installed, so ROM's can be installed. Not unlocked to move to do a different carrier or take a different SIM network.

Only T-Mobile in the U.S. offers phones with unlocked bootloaders.

I'm sorry, my misunderstanding.

You are then correct.

Looks like the Note 5 has a few camera improvements over the S6...but it is still pretty much the same camera.

There's been no shortage of good things said about the camera experience on the Galaxy S6, and Samsung has brought over that same exact experience to the Note 5. You get a 16MP sensor, but this isn't just about the number of pixels — it has great low light sensitivity, is supported by OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and a simple camera interface that makes taking pictures quickly and accurately a breeze. Add in the ability to launch the camera at any time with two presses of the home button, and you've got a winner.

The Note 5 does have a few extra camera software features over the Galaxy S6, though — including RAW capture in the "Pro" mode, better software video stabilization, and the ability to set manual shutter speeds — between 1/24000 and 10 seconds — in the Pro mode.

The Screen Write app — compatible only with the Note 5 — also gives you the ability to screenshot multiple screens (like a long list of directions or an online article) and automatically stitch them together for future annotating and reference. All of these little tricks add up to a great stylus experience, if that's what you want or need from your phone.

Perhaps most importantly is the fact that you don't lose S Pen functionality if you choose to go with a third-party launcher. So even if you don't like the look of Samsung's stock offering or prefer to have extra features of another launcher, you can keep using the S Pen as well.

You can use T-Mobile phones on att in almost all cases too just fwiw. International Samsung models have also had band compatibility with the states. The s6 has 2 European variants that apparently have proper band support for att/T-Mobile. I think warranty support would be easier with a T-Mobile version. All in all its a pain.

Great news about third party launchers and S-Pen support. One of my pet peeves when i had the Note 3.

Some photos taken by the Note 5. I'm really impressed with the quality! I'll be surprised if Apple improves their camera to this level.

But third party launchers have never affected S-Pen support? Not on Note 3 or 4 anyway ... S-Pen features and Nova or Google Now never had an issue together for me..

More battery results from a Note 5 owner.

Because people complain there's no SD card and removable battery, then in the same breath say they're getting the iPhone or some other phone that has no SD card or removable battery. Or worse yet, they actually try to say they're gonna get a cheap Chinese Android phone like they're even in the same class as the Note 5. Let me also add, people are acting like this isn't much of an upgrade from the Note 4 (smh) and again turn to the iPhone S model like that's such an upgrade. Yeah, ok.

The iPhone hasn't ever had these things. It's one thing to have it, it be touted by advertising/marketing, then all a sudden it's gone. Isn't the note supposed to be for power users? You honestly don't think people would be negative taking away a removable battery, sd card, and not offering a 128 gb? Didn't they take away the ir blaster too? I'm sure you feel like it's worth it, that's great but obviously there's plenty of people who disagree. And those supposed cheap knockoffs are the main reason why Samsung is having trouble quarter after quarter. Along with seemingly ignorant decisions like not releasing a flagship in a big market like Europe. But it seems like Samsung is following the Apple model, hoping it'll bring profitibility. We'll see if it works because so far it hasn't.

Did any forum member do what you've described or is just as hypothetical as me saying "Samsung fanboys insisted on SD-slots and removable batteries being the best thing ever... well until... Samsung removed them and now they blabber on about how irrelevant those non-features really are?" (which is something that one definitely could perceive that way since you guys pushed that stuff a lot until just recently*...)

Who specifically turned to an iPhone S model after saying that? Any examples? It shouldn't be hard to deliver some, since you're so convinced that it's a common behaviour (around here?) ...

*(recently = release of the new Samsung Note and Galaxy :D ).

I'm skeptical that 64GB will be available at launch in the UK. Our carriers just love base models of android phones
With the note 4 I never heard of 64GB ever being around...same in U.S.

So really will 64GB be available with the edge plus?
