Been offered a brand new 32gb Gold Note 5 for €675 ...

I'm thinking as it's not released in Europe it may hold its resale value longer than my S6 Edge.

Do I cash in my Edge now whilst it's still worth 55/60% of what I paid and buy the Note 5 and hope it's limited availability will make it more desirable and sellable until new phones around Easter ?

Or do I hold onto my Edge and swallow more loss € wise in the next 5-6 or so months ?

Thoughts ??

I know my one issue isn't going to be fully resolved going to the Note 5, but I what I'm reading regarding DPI scaling being adjusted so more content can be seen on screen sounds really needed. I've noticed for ages apps on Android devices I have don't display as much content as my iPhone 6Plus such as Tapatalk and NewsStand. Anyone with the Note 5 able to confirm that this new dpi scaler does indeed allow similar amount of content now to be displayed?

I'm also missing Corel painter & ArtRage ...

Also - come on you guys. No photos of your devices? No S-Pen samples of it being put to creative uses? No photos of cases or protectors you have decided to use? The information is hardly flowing out of you that have and are 'passionate' about it... Share this info with us otherwise the only thing we have to go on is the scandal gates and the latest one 'muppet gate'....

Ok, here are some pics from chrome and it looks like you actually get a little more info on screen with the note. iPhone on the left, note on the right.

Got the Note 5 on Saturday and it's been great. I had a Note 3 prior to picking up the iPhone 6 and I missed my Note so that's why I came back. I liked my iPhone 6, but I hated how limited iOS felt in terms of customization and I just didn't like the iPhone as much as I loved my Note 3 in general, which was one my favorite phones I've ever had.

Love the phone. Everything is incredibly fast. The screen is gorgeous and the camera is amazing. I can easily get through an entire day on battery without plugging my phone up. My typical day consists of texting, talking on the phone, browsing Chrome, watching YouTube, watching streams on Twitch, listening to music, checking emails, and some light gaming (Hearthstone). Feels a lot more premium in hand than any other Note device. Love using the S-Pen whenever I can.

It's a fingerprint magnet though, which I hate. It hasn't been a problem since I put an Otterbox on it, but I noticed it while putting the case on. Also, the glass body pretty much guarantees this will be rocking a case or even the smallest incident can end badly. Speaking of cases, what's the best one? The Otterbox is very protective but incredibly bulky and it cost me $60 so I want to see if I can find something good but cheaper with a tempered glass screen protector.

I use the same setup for all my devices that I use and I always get a UAG with the combination of a tempered glass. Offers great protection without making the phone too bulky like the Otterbox. I am not a clumsy person at all but I just like to keep my devices in pristine condition. UAG are a very snug fit and feels comfortable in hand. Def check it out.

I don't know if this was posted, but here is a video about the backwards stylus
Wow, even knowing that inserting the pen backward breaks it, hahaha excuse me, he did it anyways? I never once inserted the Note 4 S-Pen backwards accidentally, it's pretty obvious which end goes in first, let alone on purpose to try "try it out." I hope this guy never puts Diesel in his car just because the line is empty lol.

lol I knew it, before Christmas for sure!

By Christmas? There was zero chance of that, I would have bet anyone it would have been much sooner.

Resistance was futile. Best smartphone ever and it is taking owners little time in using it for that conclusion which speaks volumes.

The point is both sides feel pretty similar since the width is the same and there is zero resistance. It would not be a hard thing to do accidentally. God forbid you let someone check your phone out. He was literally trying to demonstrate the way it slides it no matter the direction and it got stuck that easily with zero force.

One end of the pen is tapered to a point and the other end is rounded. Both sides do not feel similar, which is why this is silly that it's being talked about. Just don't do it.

I wouldn't personally make the mistake, but that is definitely a flaw to ruin the s-pen if it happens.

Mine was on standby this morning for an hour and only lost 1%. I will have to check overnight, I always put it in airplane mode before I retire. I usually sleep 7 hours or so..
I was not in airplane mode. Received about 30 emails and 3 texts plus a few notifications from other apps. On standby for 8 hours.

Idk, the feel of the of the S-Pen is very different from writing point to the clicking part. There were videos already showing this could happen, they were reading an article on the very subject, yet he went a head and did it, to his own phone. If he wanted to argue that it was a design flaw or that there should have been more resistance while inserting the pen the wrong way, by all means discuss it, but don't do it when you know what is going to happen.

It's like the glass back, in my opinion, it makes the phone more fragile. You don't have a case on it, let someone use it and they accidentally drop it, the glass will crack. But to purposely throw your phone on the ground to see if the back will crack, is in the same league.

I can definitely understand a child getting the Note 5 from his parent and inserting the pen the wrong way or throwing the phone against the wall and cracking it, but to purposely do it while knowing all the facts, it's completely his fault.

The Note 5 is all about the design, unlike their previous models. I don't like the Note 5, but I'm sure Samsung designed the pen this way so the pen would seemingly integrate with the design of the phone. Design over function, I prefer the other, but that's a different subject. Having said that, Samsung could have put some sort of emergency function to release the levers that hold the S-Pen in place, for the people that end up putting their pen in back end first lol. Sorry but I still find this hilarious.

Yup, I'll agree that the moral of this story is that there are a lot of stupid people in the world and some appear to own a Note 5. But the greater point is that there is nothing good to come out of this for Samsung and a better design wouldn't eliminated this problem altogether.

At the very least, they should be getting out in front of this and offering to repair damaged phones free of charge. Whether it's the user's fault or not, getting defensive and essentially pointing the finger at their customer's will earn them no goodwill.

exactly. Making your official response, "read the manual" is laughable.

Gotcha. Will do.

I don't know, this is just too laughable that they inserted the pen the wrong way and get upset by it. It's not like the issue was that the pen is inserted with the samsung logo and the action button upside down and that causes the damage, I could definitely understand that. But inserting the Pen backwards?

If the company wants to throw in some good will and replace the phone for the people that did it accidently, fine. I don't even know how would you write up that complaint, or walk into the store with the pen backwards lol, but ok. The guy on the video purposely doing it while knowing all the facts? No, that's on him imo. He shouldn't do something so silly.

@Six8 @AppleRobert So, it seems AT&T variants dont suffer from the cell standby and TMO does... Could be something with Wifi Calling or VoLTE.

I have a TMO variant and as of late, battery hasn't been the same. But I'll continue to keep an eye on it,

I agree with you there.
