It was on a table top and I knocked it off and it fell face down on concrete. Probably around 4ft high. First time I ever had a screen break.

Well there goes the drop protection GG5 touts. In all fairness I don't think any phone would survive that. Well maybe the z force with the shatter screen, but maybe not. In any case I'm going to screen protector up this time around.

Wasn't aware messages could get stuck? Is this just for grouped messages or individual?

typically was just group, but could be individual too if they didn't have the "send as SMS" setting turned on (settings -> messages -> send as SMS) which is off by default now on iOS > 7.0.

in my case, group texts I had been apart of wouldn't recognize my number as being de-registered with iMessage (even though it was properly de-registered). I even had those parties delete the group convo's I was apart of but the iMessage bug would eventually show up and their chains would revert from MMS to iMessage thus not allowing me to see the messages anymore. I was quite freaking frustrating. Went on for weeks with an Apple support ticket opened. The guy I was working with at Apple was not very sympathetic to the issue and just kept blaming Verizon even though I knew exactly what was going on. I've switched from Android to iOS a lot so this wasn't my first time seeing this bug. But this was the first time my number got stuck for several weeks before I decided to switch numbers to avoid the headache (was on the Galaxy S6 at the time).

One thing I read about yesterday that would drive me a little batty is that you cannot manage the phone's photos using Google Photos--specifically, if I decide to delete photos in the Google Photos app, it doesn't delete them from the gallery app. Anyone confirm if this is true?.
Is this the article you read? It refers to what you need to know about the SD cards and touches on what you're talking about.

I think that's his older S7 with GG4.

So update on my case situation. I hope me buying all these cases and sharing will help steer people in the right direction.

Anyway. At best buy I tried the speck candy shell grip, the tech 21 and the speck candy shell clear. Best looking goes to the tech 21. Best feeling goes to the candy shell clear. Best fit and finish and security when holding goes to the candy shell grip. It also looks great now that they made the entire thing blacked out. Just like the note.

Buttons on the tech 21 were terrible. As usual. They always miss this point. On the speck cases buttons are fantastic. All 3 cases are drop rated and none were lose on the sides like the Spigen rugged armor and Incipio ngp advanced.

I can confirm that the grip works great with wireless charging. It fits nice and snug, gives me a more than confident hold and it seems sturdy enough to handle drops. Winner winner here.

Two cons that I can think of. It can grip pockets sometimes and it's very pricey. $40.

Edit- getting the s pen out was awful on the tech 21. Speck cases. Great.
If you're interested in a wrap I really like my leather slick wrap it adds grip and smells nice.

Reviews I've seen have said Ram management has been fine. What's wrong with the performance?

I've noticed bouts of lag, especially opening up video apps like Netflix and HBO GO. Browsing seems wonky regardless of browser. I also have an iPhone 6S Plus, it absolutely flies. I don't quite understand why Sammy can't put it all together. 4gb of RAM should be way more than enough.

That's a shame if true. Agreed on the iPhone. My 6s plus is very smooth and fast a big plus point to the iPhone. I imagine the iPhone 7 will be just as fast and even more so though the note 7 I imagine. Luckily it wouldn't be a deciding factor from not getting the note 7.

Be interesting to see the comparisons when the 7 is out from performance.

^^again, no one uses their phones like that so in everyday usage, it doesn't mean much to the average consumer.

And don't get it twisted, I'm sure if I put my Note 7 against my iPhone 6s+, and ran tests like the video above, my iPhone would probably come out on top.

With that said, my Note 7 ram management has been fine. Can TW still use tweaks? Sure.

The battery so far has outperformed my s7e.

This is the thing anybody can make a phone look faster with better performance if you compare them in a certain way. Real world performance matters above all else.

Same with my s7 edge compared to my 6s plus. You won't find much difference. Ram management was fine on my S7 edge and some apps refreshed but some did on my iPhone too. That said it's pretty much never happens.

If it's true that the iPhone 7 Plus will have 3gb of RAM, that along with the new A10 chip, the gap will widen further on speed. I don't even know why an iPhone would need 3gb of RAM, quite honestly.

I've wondered the same thing and wondered why the 3GB of ram is needed for the increase. Are Apple planning to add something to the phone that will suddenly mean it's needed? That's the question.

Gotta love these useless videos like this. I have had all of the phones he mentions in the video and using them side by side you would NOT notice a difference in performance.
If this is supposed to simulate real world use....then actually show people using the phones. I have taken my S7 edge in the pool and shot underwater video....show that side by side with the iphone. Show rearranging something simple like icons. Then show adding extra storage by adding and SD Card. Show wireless charging. Show the huge difference in the display quality.
These types of videos do not simulate real world use. I switch between my S7 edge OPO3 and 6s+ all the time sometimes daily......I NEVER notice any phone being faster than the other.

Technology in smartphones has advanced to the point now that performance is not an issue with these phones.
It comes down to features they offer that match the users wants desires and lifestyle.

You keep rationalise people. It works as long as you don't see a reference to compare to. That's why these "tests" are shown with phones side by side.

so have you had the phones they mention in the video? Have you used them side by side? Then you really don't know. Videos like that are misleading to say the least and do not simulate real world use.

Really misleading. Me and boy Kevin are standing in metro we figure we might just play something while we wait and we open same game which takes 2-3 seconds longer to load for him. Indeed misleading, because he tapped an icon first, then did i.

Truthfully, these test are meant for Apple fan boys. Notice real reviewers never run these test. It's probably some guy who's probably head deep into the apple eco system and needs some likes on a video. You never know, maybe the reviewer above needs to "rationalize" his decision just to feel better about his device.

Anyway, you find me one respectable reviewer who runs these test and then we can have a discussion.

Of course. When something does not support your type of cool-aid.

lol...not the same as using them as you daily phone. But I see what you are doing you just want to come into the new Note 7 thread and try to throw around something negative. The note 7 must really make you feel threatened as a iphone user to go to all that trouble.

You do know that the display models have a ton of extra software installed and have historically been slow in performance.

Using a phone for a minute or two in a store is not the same as using it for a few weeks as your everyday phone.
Then as I said....i have had all the phones in that video and do not notice a difference in performance in everyday use.
