Hello, guys.

After reading Anandtech's and XDA's note 7 review, where they explain that the Note7 and any high-end Galaxy device are objectively the worst flagship performers by a big margin, did anyone return their device after having to deal with these issues?

http://www.anandtech.com/show/10559/the-samsung-galaxy-note7-s820-review

Why are people so desperate to crown Samsung's devices as the fastest when the opposite is true to anyone that even bothered to use the phone for longer periods of time?

Even the Exynos versions don't hold up. It's crazy how much faster the iPhone 6s is on any situation, after using both side by side.

I've got to take the Note 7 back. There's a bug that prevents me from syncing google contacts. It's a awesome phone. A much more complete system than iOS, but if something so fundamental hasn't been addressed (after years of complaints across devices, skins, and updates), I'm out. It's a sad day, too. I really really really liked that phone. Good thing I held on to my iPhone. It's a sad sad day.

Hmmm thats a weird bug for sure. Never heard of a Google device having issues syncing its own contacts.

Can we help, in some way?

I know that you shouldn't have to do this, but it is what it is. If you opened the app manager after disabling Google's contact sync, in order to see ALL the apps on your device, you could find the contact's storage app and delete its cache/data. After that you could re-enable Google's contact sync.

9 times out of 10 it fixes all issues.

I have used Google to sync my contacts and calendar on my iMac, MBP, iPad, iPhone and a large number of Android phones for years. To my knowledge there is no bug to prevent Google contacts from syncing. I am pretty sure it is a setting on your phone you need to adjust. Maybe a call to support for your carrier would be in order?

I know. It sucks. It won't sync them at all.

I wiped the cache partiction, did multiple factory resets, wiped the individual date of multiple apps, and followed all of the tutorials I could find on how to fix it, but it's hopeless. This is actually my 2nd Note 7. I had the problem on the one that Verzion shipped. I went to my local Verizon yesterday and swapped it for a new one and the same issue was present. Total bummer.

Follow this link to the Google search results for "Unfortunately google contacts has stopped syncing" or google it yourself. My contacts/phone never synced and it was absolutely setup properly. This is a known issue on some devices. Glad you've never had an issue.

There was no link in your post. So here is one for you that provides a lot of answers and help. :)

Sorry missed the link in your post the first time. So it seems you have the help you need after all :)

Yeah there's definitely a link there. None of those suggestions worked so it's going back (as I mentioned).

None of these words for me, but hopefully they'll work for someone else who has this issue.

Hope you find a fix! I have never seen an issue like that so post back and lets us know how it goes :)

I'm taking it back so no fix forthcoming from me. I'm already back to my iPhone. I enjoyed the phone a great deal, but an out-of-the-box bug on two phones (the original phone that shipped and the one I swapped for in the store) is a deal-breaker.

Anyway my blue light filter is back after i reset and update..

Here in singapore so many issues on note 7 brick after update. And boot loop issues...

What kind of boot loop issues? My wife's has restarted on her for no reason, I'm curious to see if anyone else has this.

Don't think anybody is claiming it is the fastest. Note 7 from most reviews I've seen is very quick. iPhone generally is faster and OS is the big reason for this

Certainly doesn't mean note 7 isn't really fast. As long as there isn't a big difference most won't mind

Will judge for myself when my note 7 arrives. As long as performance is good and not laggy I see no reason to worry

I certainly wouldn't return my phone or cancel a pre order based on other people's feelings

The entirety of iOS is the equivalent of just Android's app drawer, so what do you expect? I love iOS as much as the next guy, but let's not act like it's a demanding or jam packed OS.

Why are you so stuck on your real world? Does your version of real world has a different definition of opening apps and doing stuff. Because in my real world it takes time and by time we measure things to tell what is slower and what is faster.

iPhone 6S released almost a year ago is running circles around it.

You can't be serious. Real world experience trumps everything. I tap on an app, it opens instantly. Maneuvering through out the UI is instant. Unlocking is instant. Menu slide out instantly, etc. I'm not going to let colored bars and graphs convince me otherwise. Plus, I ran the GPU rendering profile myself, and it was nowhere as crazy as shown in the review.

What error are you getting? My google contacts sync with no issues. But I've had issues with google contact sync before, on a variety of phones, it is buggy overall IMO.

I'm seeing quite a bit of lag. The same lag my Note 5 gets after a few months of use, but this is with a fresh, brand new Note 7. Now contrary to what anyone else says the lag does NOT affect functionality, it's mainly an annoyance. But it's definitely there sometimes.

If I paid full price for the phone I might be tempted to return it, but since I got them on a BOGO I'm fairly satisfied since my price was closer to $500 per phone. The one thing that really really worries me is the horrendous update schedule from US carriers. Even if Samsung does put out updates, how long do I have to wait until my carrier tests and releases them? This whole fragmentation thing really has me considering the iPhone again, especially after my Note 5 getting Marshmallow about a month ago which is ridiculous. Carrier bloat is an issue as well, Verizon and ATT decided to take away Samsung cloud from us, WTF? Can you imagine if Verizon told Apple to take off iCloud? Verizon took away my Note 7's ability to change if my caller ID broadcasts, so now I have to call Verizon to change that. It's these things that add up, but some are not only on the Note 7 but the entirety of Android.

Oh, I see you don't have time to read the articles and also you are stuck in defensive fanboy-mode.
The Note7 and any Samsung device are slower than almost any single flagship, regardless of OS. It's much slower than the 6s, htc 10, one plus 3, etc.

Wow. An Ios fan harping on about specs! Whatever next.

I tried my hardest to duplicate any type of lag, but I'm just not getting that. It seems user experience is 50/50 so far on this device, so something is going on.

I just have 2 apps disabled(Lookout and T-mobile ID), and not using a 3rd party launcher.

My only gripe so far, is the Samsung Cloud is not functioning correctly yet.

The most important thing is whether the phone is fast enough and allows you to get things done. In Real life we don't use our phones side by side with other phones. They are used in isolation. The S7 edge/note 7 is plenty fast.

I read almost all of them. I spent the weekend reading and trying different options. Wiping cache partitions, factory reset, wiping app cache, changing the time from 12 hour to 24 hour mode, deleting voicemail, etc. The problem occurs as soon as I put my gmail address from a fresh setup so it's not a recent app issue. None of it worked on the two phones I had. Also, I didn't take a defensive tone because I'm an Apple fanboy. I took that tone because OP assumed I didn't set up my phone right because he/she had never had or heard of the issue. That's a pet peeve of mine and had nothing to do with the phone (or honestly OP. It's my pet peeve.) As I mentioned several times, I really enjoyed the phone. I liked it better than my iPhone in fact. I want to keep it, but cannot as I can't do one of the primary things a phone is for: calling - the people in one's contacts list.

No one is arguing about specs. Read the previous posts with more attention, this time.
All Galaxy devices are slower than every other modern flagship.

Unfortunately, a lot of users and everyone at XDA disagree with you. Being slower than every other flagship while costing so much isn't ok.

Come on guys, stop and take a deep breath. Stop taking this as Apple versus Android, wtf cares? XDA is an extremely well regarded site with an excellent reputation. Instead of bashing each other like we are 2 different sides in a war, or accusing each other of lying, we should be comparing results and amassing information and possible solutions or at least generating feedback for Samsung.

I really don't feel like wading through pages and pages of Apple versus Android. Seriously, before you hit that post reply button really look at your post and see if it offers anything constructive, or if it's just an Apple versus Android reply wasting forum space.

I'm not in blind fanboy mode. I'm just not too concerned about it, because I actually own the device and it's not giving me any issues.

Ok...but you know that has nothing to do with the phone and it is accounts and or setting related?

But the iphone is a great phone so enjoy!

The thing is it's that it isn't very quick at all. Read the links.

Anandtech's review was the first to point the obvious, and they got a lot of crap because of it. It's good to see XDA and people at r/android validating what should be common knowledge.

Even well known Youtube reviewers are now dropping the "pretty quick" BS, unsupported, claim.

I advise you to read the XDA link. On the other hand, after reading your post history, never mind. You make a collection of Galaxies. GO for it.
