My S6 got even better and faster through updates (some of them for improving performance and marshmallow also did wonders), so I'm pretty sure it's just something momentary and it will get addressed pretty soon through updates.

People should just wait. I got my S6 6 months after release, so the first night I got a lot of updates that were already released which probably fixed stuff like that.
You might have a good point there. I got my S4, S5 and S7 edge all in the July of the release year and my note 3 in Feb 2014 and note 4 in March of 2015. So this may have contributed to the smooth experiences I've had with these devices.
[doublepost=1472022425][/doublepost]Anyhow I've decided on the blue galaxy note 7. I looked at both the black and blue in the three store on Monday and placed my Pre-order yesterday. Apparently I'll still get my phone on the 30th but was told to check the status on Friday to confirm. It didn't help that the black model was not switched on. I just don't think I can do a black phone. It's going to be a shame to pass on this lovely pink gold S7 edge though. Oh well at least the blue has some nice rose gold trim.

A lot of it also stems from the expectations people have after spending nearly $1000 on a device. People don't expect to have to micromanage the device they just bought and expect it to work fine out of the box. Most of the time a smartphone is simply a tool and is expected to just work.

Unfortunately this is not always the case with android devices and it can in turn lead to a sour user experience for users who are not well versed in technology or simply don't have the time to deal with such things.

It is also difficult to justify to someone turning off features on a device in order to prolong the battery life as it won't last the day otherwise. These are all things the average consumer struggles to understand or even grasp when the device was advertised and sold to them with these features touted as main advantages over competing devices.
I haven't had to turn anything off that I didn't want to. I have done more micromanaging than iPhone but I think it's because I can. It's sitting there in my face and the geek in me wants to tinker.

For those wondering about lag, not really seeing any other than occasionally scrolling while it's loading.
Google now launcher looked super smooth. The lag while loading wasn't great but once the page stopped loading it was good. Why can't Google make chrome smooth? I've never seen it smooth on Android. That's so weird to me. I'm liking the Samsung browser. I love the No ads.

Edit. I see you were sneaky and changed the Samsung browser to be the chrome icon. I haven't had that lag in that browser.

Samsung Germany seems to be fast in Europe, the first Note 7s have been sent out yesterday and some customers have already received them today.

Great just experience here. You don't want to say least try it out for yourself?

I wonder if the exynos note 7 will have better performance and battery life than the Snapdragon variant. I really hope so.

I have no doubt the exynos is the better model, but my snapdragon note 7 is great. The battery is good, and the speed is great.

I sometimes think that people would be a lot happier with their phones If they didnt read every article that was posted about it. I had no idea my phone was supposedly slow (it's not), until I found said articles on the internet.

Anyway, amazing phone. The iPhone will have to do a lot to pull me away from the note 7. I do wish we got the snapdragon model in the US, but I'm happy none the less. It's a bigger s7, with extra features. The s7 was damm near perfect, and the note 7 is an improvement on that.

That is a great point! Nice little insight into the human psyche and suggestive reality.

Is it true the Note 7 took a step back with the Grace UX? XDA and a lot of reviewers are beginning to trash the software. That being said, how does it affect the real world usage and consumer purchasing?

Is that what's causing all the lag complaints their new ui? Hope they update it soon you guys who notice is it when they release an update and smooth things out please let us know.

My feeling on the XDA review is they are looking at the technical aspects of it... and I respect their knowledge and research on the Note7. But with all the bells and whistles that Samsung has packed in the Note7 I wasn't surprised with the hit in performance.

But from my perspective those Android phones or iPhone lack the features that the Note7 have, it's one of those do the pros outweigh the cons type of mentality. I enjoy the Note7 for it's design and display along with all the added benefits it provides. While coming from the iPhone the battery life doesn't compare at all. But I'll recommend the Note7 to anyone who's interested.

I don't think so. The phone seems fast to me, and the new UI is nice.

Disclaimer: I don't compare the speed of opening 14 apps, closing, and reopening them to other phones (I don't even do this in my normal usage). Of course, I don't do this with any device. The macbook pro in my house is a great laptop, if a bit slower than my surfacebook. I enjoy them both, but if I compare them to my desktop, they are downright pathetic speed wise. But I don't, all my devices seem fast enough for my use.

Maybe I am getting old, but I find this repetitive discussion we have every year, with every phone launch to be tiring. These are expensive devices. Did you really just pay this much, so that you can stress out about it on an online forum? Alternatively, did you really just go from enjoying your new purchase, to returning it because of a youtube video?

This is the discussion around the note 7. The iPhone 6 was filled with people on this forum babying their phone, so that it doesn't bend. The iPhone 6s plus had camera disappointments, didn't it?

The iPhone 7 will be a disappointment based on stale design, non-oled display (that is a personal thing), dual camera may disappoint, probably still 2 gigs of ram, and the price will be hard to swallow. I almost guarantee one or more these issues will dominate the iPhone forum in about a month.

Personally, I love my note 7. I will keep it for a good while, unless the iPhone 7 or the Nexus 2016 tempt me away. They will have to bring a lot to the table, but we will see.

***Also, I imagine the note 7 needs a few bug fixes and optimization via updates. This is no different than what we see with new iPhones and Nexus devices.***

****One more thing, go visit the iPhone section. You will see what I mean, there is nothing but complaints, along with already perceived disappointment with the upcoming model. These forums are a small sample size, and you are more likely to here the vocal minority.***

Could not have said it better myself! Great logic and sound thinking!
