My note 5 scanner works (almost) everytime. It has done since I set it up last year.

I did some minor work to my car over the weekend. My hands did feel a little rougher than normal. However my edge plus couldn't read any of my prints. It also doesnt read them if my hands are wet.

Its a rubbish sensor. I almost smashed the phone when asked to wait 29 seconds again.

Give me the iris scanner.

See, I've never had those issues, I work on cars all week, my hands are rough. I use my thumb and index finger and they work 99% of the time.

I respectfully disagree and suspect your scanner isn't set up correctly.
Edit - I have a note 5, not a edge+ so sorry if they're different, I have no idea if they're the same.
I helped a friend who was having issues with his note 4 scanner so we scanned the same finger 3 times and it helped immensely.

FP sensor is hit or miss on my Note 5's, I've had 3 of them so far in terms of experience. I've tried multiple registrations for the same finger. It's not terrible or anything, it's quite acceptable, it's just not as good as the iphone for example. I think a circular design will always be better since it covers a lot more of your fingerprint when read. I mostly fall back on pattern sign in these days because I don't want to deal with the fp sensor.

I think a circular FP scanner work best too imho.

It will be interesting to see if they can pull it off ..

I remain sceptical from a usability perspective (I don't doubt they can make the Wacom surface go round the edges - but that writing on an edge is practical).

Biggest question for European customers will remain whether we get the Note 7 and if so, will we be offered both versions or just the one ?

As the Moto Z has failed to peek my interest and Sony X range likewise, I haven't got around to trading in my S7e, all I'm using it for at the moment is Netflix on Gear VR. So I would trade in my S7e & Gear VR for a Note 7 ....

Me personally I would prefer a regular screen Note 7. I hope they release both models. One with a curved screen like the S& edge and one with a flat screen.

Yeah if I get the option I would choose the regular screen too. Besides it will undoubtably be cheaper as they always charge a bit more for the edge models (on the galaxy line).

At the moment other than Nexus which is released later on in the year, there isn't any other Android I would be tempted by.

I gotta say that I will gladly eat crow. I used to say side bezel should be thinner and they wouldn't affect functionality, but with my Note 5 I am very very often hitting things by accident just by holding my phone by the sides, more so if it's with one hand. Even just the skin of my hand contacting the screen is enough to turn on one of my widgets, and no I don't have fat hands. I'm very hesitant to get excited about a Note with curved edges. Unless Samsung has specifically solved the issue of accidental presses somehow, I don't think I'm going to really like it.

So are all rumours pointing to just one verison and a note edge? that seems to be the rumour. Maybe this is the direction the company are headed.

be interested how the curved edge would work with the s pen and how well...

of all the rumours i've heard nothing on SD card...guessing this will be on it as well

the rumors say
SD card
waterproofing
SD 823 processor
4000 mAh battery
5.8 display
Same camera as the S7

I'm taking the rumors to mean there will ONLY be a Note edge model, but that's just my guess. It seems they consolidated the S7 into just 2 models, so it wouldn't surprise me if the Note was just 1 model. Really they should have consolidated their phone lines a long time ago so they can concentrate on less models.

But nothing concrete has been released on whether there will be 2 models or not. I'd say with that last teaser from Samsung we now can say with certainty that there will be a Note edge.

So they actually went for the edged screen. Nice if they can pull it off but functionally I much prefer the standard flat panel. I'd also prefer it if they released it in Europe.

two versions!!

http://www.sammobile.com/2016/06/13...laxy-note-7-and-note-7-edge-on-august-2-2016/

We’ve seen quite a few rumors about the upcoming device in the Galaxy Note lineup including the one which suggested that it would be the Galaxy Note 7. Now, we’ve received information suggesting that a curved edge screen variant of theGalaxy Note 7 would be unveiled at the next Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event.

According to an image that we’ve received, Samsung might unveil the Galaxy Note7 (SM-N930) and Note7 edge (SM-N935) on August 2, 2016, at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York. As you can see in the image, five curved lines might be pointing towards ’7′ the Galaxy Note7′s name, and that would bring its number in sync with the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

The Galaxy Note 7 is rumored to feature a 5.8-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 823 SoC, an iris scanner, IP68-certified water-resistant body, a USB Type-C port, and a 4,000 mAh battery. We also exclusively reported that the Galaxy Note 7 would come with a BlackBerry Hub-like Samsung Focus app for enhanced productivity.

Nice! I hope they don't make one a more premium version and omit features from the other one. I'd hate the edge version to have more features, other than any edge features. I also hope they talk about optimizing the UI in relation to mistaken screen presses and that this is improved.

I hope that they don't opt to just release one model in certain territories .... if they do, I expect Europe will only get the edge variant.

how weird since i posted the article they have changed the word to note 7 or note 7 edge and not both...hmmm

can't see them doing that again. Surely it has to be both.

We didn't see last years doozy either. Plus if they do release just the Edge variant here, then they will still say they have released the note and that their market research says their focus group said we would prefer not to have the other ... The same focus group that they based the decision to not release it last year because " Europeans do not use the pen .... "

At this stage .... nothing would surprise me ...

agree with both of you...I hope they don't just release an edge variant to just certain markets and then the flat screen and edge screen to the rest. It makes no sense to me.
