Not too sure what's going on with bloatware but there seems to be a Vodafone app that is standard and cannot be deleted on my Note 7.

It's called Smart adnd I've disabled all notifications on it but still seem to be getting them.

Feels like I'm on Verizon in the USA or something. :p

Battery life seems middling for me at the minute but am aware that I've only had it for 24 hours. I'd say it's comparable to my Priv right now, which is a little disappointing.

I do have screen brightness quite high though as I enjoy dem popping colours :D.

My preorder note 7 arrived today. It's UK direct from Samsung. Nice presentation and it looks fantastic. Just had a quick play but it is a great device. Apparently I was number 95 of the first 1000!

Seems to me that the suspension of sales over a reported exploding Note 7 battery is really going overboard if it was for that sole reason alone. If they have suspended sales then it points to a more wider concern than an isolated case. Could it explain the issues some have had with performance and bootloops ? Is this an exynos or Snapdragon isolated case or if it is battery related will that suspension carry over to all regions or is this Korea only?

The information pertaining to this is all very vague at the moment, I'm sure we will find out sooner rather than later though.

Well it's not for one case alone, as according to this Korean developer's Twitter there are now 6 cases in Korea and one internationally. One of them wasn't reportedly even connected to the charger when it exploded. If the timestamps are of any indication, the amount of Note 7 explosions in Korea went from 3 to 6 in just 10 hours, so to me it seems Samsung did the right thing by halting any further shipments while investigating what's causing all those explosions. 7 explosions for such a new phone is rather alarming in such a short timespan.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but this is what I noticed about the lag...

If you are in an area with poor cell reception, the phone will lag. I think this is because the apps that might be running in the background such as Facebook, Twitter, Outlook, etc are trying to pull the data which makes the phone work hard.

If you are in an area with great cell reception or on Wifi, it runs great. Just my observations, I could be wrong.

Yeah, that makes sense. I don't see the lag that often, but when i do it's when it's loading from the internet. So it makes sensw a slow connection would make the load slower resulting in more noticable lag.

Anyone else unable to have touchwiz save the app drawer in alphabetical order? After a few hours it seems to go back to non alphabetical.

in my past experience (I don't have the Note 7 yet), when I would download an app, it would go to the end of the app drawer, forcing me to alphabetize again. Is it doing it after downloading an app? or just on its own?

Typically in low signal areas, the phone will divert power to the cellular antennas in an attempt to increase signal strength.

If what you are saying is the true reason for the lag, it could be that Samsung has an extremely finite power management system. Once the phone boosts power to the antennas, the remaining components such as the CPU are put into a lower power state to balance the power consumption. They could be limiting clock speed or even preventing the utilization of all the cores. Once the phone connects to a strong signal, the antennas reduce their power consumption and the CPU goes back to regular performance.

Of course this is all a hypothesis, I have no idea if this is what Samsung does but it makes sense to me as a potential means of reducing the consumption associated with low signal strength.

I doubt this is the root cause, more placebo mixed with coincidence. I live in very rural area with plenty of black spots and poor signal and have never experienced lag simply because of weak reception.

Cinspiracy theories aside and no over-thinking, I think it's far more likely that whatever changes they made to Grace UX over existing S7/S7e touchwiz simply introduced some glitchy bugs that aren't present on the S7 & e TW. I have no doubt they will be ironed out in subsequent updates but irritating never the less.

I'm not sure if it is doing it after an app download, but it's definitely doing it without downloading an app. It seems random, but I haven't paid attention to it enough to see if it really is.

Could it be after an app has been updated on the playstore. (Auto-updated)

Possibly, which may explain the randomness. I'll have to keep my eye on it. But if so, has anyone else experienced it and is there a solution?

It's something that I have seen complained about by the likes of detroitborg before. As far as I know there is no way other than pressing the A-Z again.

I haven't noticed lag in low signal areas on my S7E either and I'm doubting they would develop a specific power consumption algorithm for the Note 7 when the components between the S7 and Note 7 are nearly identical. Surely they would want to reuse some software components between the two devices.

At the end of the day, the processors inside these devices are overkill and running a system UI smoothly should not come close to taxing the CPU. I guess it all stems back to Samsung and their horrific practices regarding software, they've fixed the cartoon look and turned TouchWiz into a professional looking skin yet the performance is still lagging behind others (no pun intended).

When tiny manufacturers like HTC can optimize their software to run smoothly with less than 10% of the manpower and resources that Samsung has, there really is no excuse anymore.

I'm having some major major problems trying to get VR to work on this and it is beginning to really really grate.

I put the phone in the headset last night and got a message saying I needed to download the required applications.

So I set it to download and every time I left the screen with the download bar it seemingly stopped.
So I gave up and am doing it now instead.

It has taken an hour to download 98.9MB and now the bar is full but has gone to 103MB and is still going.

Oh wait, no. Now it has just stopped and said network error occurred, try again later and is starting again.

I give up. Complete waste of time.

Not sure if it is a coincidence because you have the Exynos version. The reason why the US has Snapdragon is for CDMA compatibility and why they perform differently. https://www.quora.com/Why-does-Sams...ynos-chips-are-better-in-just-about-every-way

I was in a really crappy reception area and the difference in performance was indeed noticeable and it got hot.

However folks with exynos version have also experienced the performance issues with the Note 7 software much the same as the snapdragon version. Noticeable performance hiccups that just aren't on the S7/e

I was having similar problems with my s7 edge earlier in the year. Only way to fix it was by doing a factory reset of the phone.

Factory reset? As in wipe the phone and set it all up again?
Sod that if so, I don't want to try VR that much.

Thanks for the info though :).

Yeah, it's a pain. I just waited until I had to do a reset for some other reason. It's a cool device, but I haven't used it after the first week.

One thing I really like with TMobile is JOD ( jump on demand )

I almost never keep a device for more than a year, and don't have the patience or time to deal with selling it on somewhere like Craigslist etc..

Also, I can upgrade 3x a year without any restrictions so works really well for me. If I don't like a particular device I can walk in anytime after getting it and change w/o any restocking fee or penalty.

I also don't pay any down payment and taxes upfront

Downside is I'm renting vs owning, but that's alright with me.
After reading about "Touch Disease" in iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, renting sounds fine with me. I feel so badly for all the people stuck with out of warranty repair costs for those phones.

I was going to keep my 6S Plus but I've decided it's just my cheap SE that stays (got it for less than $200 after trading in my useless POS iPhone 6Plus to Apple and getting a discount though my husband's business customer account). The big expensive phones will get traded back to AT&T just as their warranties are about to expire.

I think the 6S Plus was well designed and mine in particular is a beauty, but I'm in no mood to trust my luck when the warranty expires. I didn't buy Apple Care. I probably will buy some sort of insurance for my Note7 to cover drop damage and possibly theft. And it gets traded in before the warranty expires. Not that Samsung sounds that great about honoring warranties anyway. Their treatment of S7 Active customers' issues is as appalling as Apple's treatment of Touch Disease so far.

Your T-Mobile JOD deal sounds great. I wish we had them as an option for a carrier but we don't get good coverage from them out at our house and one of the places we travel to frequently.

So today I noticed my battery running down fairly quickly. I checked my battery statistics and "android os" was at the top. Does anyone know what this is? It also seems to have sent out a ton of data today.

The optimization also mentioned antutu and put that app to sleep, but I didn't see it in the battery Usage statistics.
I got that around Monday, too, I think. I don't often check my battery but I had an unusually fast drain so I took a look to see what did that.

In other news I loaded Neko Atsume on my Note7 yesterday and for the first time ever felt my phone heat up. I have had this app on my iPad for ages and thought it would be cute to collect the cats on my N7. But I noticed it would not close properly when you tried to close it the way you should but would close when you try to scroll through your open apps. Then the phone started getting hot so I deleted it pronto. I've been playing hidden object and puzzle games on it for hours at time with barely any battery loss and no warming at all but this simple cat display game with static scenes and barely any motion from the cats on the screen made the phone hot. Weird.
