Totally agree...there are some here that want to throw mud at Samsung. But they did the right thing and did it very quickly.
They are definitely handling this extremely well IMO unfortunately they are also at the mercy of the retailers who are handling the returns and depending on which company/particular store you go to your experience could differ very much. I suspect that most people going they carriers are having decent return/exchange experiences while those going thru third parties ie target or Best Buy might have a little extra trouble/misinformation. And unfortunately to the average consumer this translates as a Samsung issue not a retail issue. But again I'm impressed with the way there handling it and hope they come out ok and keep pushing the industry forward. I'm back to my 6S+ but sorely miss a lot of the what I was getting from the Note.

well seeing as apple is usually late to the new tech game by about 2-4 years. i would imagine they would be anoucing
some magical case within the next 2-4 years and the apple minions will eat that stuff up lol..

I thought this exact thing. Especially since the 2018 iPhone is shaping up to have all that the Note 7 has now. But after all of these issues I think some people are just ok with waiting for those features to enter apples walled garden. I'm honestly not sure what to do know, I was all but certain that after apples keynote I would order the note but now I don't know.

Dude really? Quote the facts...35 out of 2.5 million is .0014%. Samsung got out in front of this before anyone was hurt. Who knows maybe more would have surfaced...maybe people would have been hurt. But you know what? Samsung's quick action eliminated all that. They put their customers first and just recalled the Note 7 at a tremendous PR and $$$ hot to them.
As others have pointed out and provided links. There have been lots of other manufacturers phones exploding and causing injuries to people. Where is your condemnation about that? You don't seem to mind it when there are a plethora of evidence that iPhones explode and cause injuries...but man Samsung has an issue and takes the high road and boom here come the doom and gloom folks.....
Stick to the facts and don't portray your opinion as factual.

I got mine Friday so it took just a couple of weeks. Did you get the email with tracking info yet?

Yeah they are very obvious to spot...they come just out of the woodwork :)

well as one Samsung fan...I would hate a world with no iPhone. I use my iphone daily and switch between Android and iPhones for years. Looking forward to the announcement of the iPhone 7 plus this week and pre-ordering.

I think I've stuck to the facts. It started at 2 reported cases and only in Korea. Now in a month it's 35 cases and now it's outside Korea. You keep saying they put their customers first, we can agree to disagree because they're a business and they can see the litigation coming if they didn't do something based on the growing number of cases in a short period of time. I believe it's 2.5 million shipped, not sold, so some phones are still on shelves/inventory. But regardless it's disturbing to have that many cases in such a short period of time. Now groups like Consumer Reports wants Samsung to do an official, not voluntary, recall based on the potential hazards of the issue and that they found some retailers still selling it.

Again I don't know what Apple has to do with this. I'm not even talking about Apple. But I don't know of any iphone release where in a month there were 35 reports of exploding batteries. I don't have emotional attachments to these companies. These companies overall don't care about consumers well-being overall. Just like politicians overall.

And let me be clear I'm referencing the Note 7 only. The s7/s7 edge seemingly didn't have these issues.

Guess Im keeping my Note, looks like I would have to return all my other stuff too. Getting the Note 7, S7, S2 Classic, and TabS for around $900 is too good to pass up. Plus I'm still getting my 256gb SD card, and who knows, maybe i'll be able to get a Gear Fit with the replacement?

Those on at&t can check out this site for the details:

What if I took advantage of your Watch or Tablet offer with my Note7?
If you exchange for another Samsung Galaxy device, the watch and tablet offer is still valid and you can keep these devices. If you exchange for another product, we are happy to handle that return for you without any restocking or early termination fees.

I don't care what anyone says the more I use this Note 7 the more I realize that this is one of the most beautiful phones ever made. Any other phone would force me to get a smaller screen while still increasing the physical size. Any other phone would force me to look at an inferior display. Last any other phone would take away my S pen. Try to draw Snapchat masterpieces without an S pen. Lol. I really like this phone. There I said it. :)

I quit using Nova today and noticed quite a difference in performance. The UI feels snappier and quicker. Wonder in Nova needs a software update for the new TW interface on the N7?

No you are not sticking to the facts. There has been a lot of people that are not regulars to the alternative section...that do not own or want Android phone who just want to throw mud.
There have been 35 cases out of 2.5 million and some of those have been display models hooked up and charging 24/7 with no issues. Some just want to blow it out of proportion ...well because they just
don't like Samsung and have stated so her on MR. Then some are Apple fans with an axe to grind.

There have been 35 cases reported out of 2.5 million sold....you stand a better chance of winning the lottery or getting struck by lightning than having a Note 7 battery explode. But don't let the facts get in your way......

Apple fits into this because those same people that I mentioned above have no issue with Apple ignoring iphone defects. They have no problem with Antenna Gate...or Bend Gate. Where Apple denied every issue and blamed the customer. But here we have a Samsung stepping up to the plate and owning up to the issue and recalling the new flagship phone at a great PR and $$ cost to them. So yeah....you don't have anything negative to say about Apple ignoring defects ....but hey Samsung does the right thing and people pop up out of the woodwork to criticize.....

Google exploding iphones......look at the youtube videos and images. I'm sure there have been more than 35.
But you won't complain about those huh? No emotional attachment at all......right

None of those defects could melt your face during your sleep, right?

Me, personally, would never buy an iPhone previous to the 6s. They had a lot of shortcomings that were put in place by Apple, because they knew about the pent up demand for big screens and tried to make the 6 as inferior as they could, so sales didn't fall all that much in the following cycle.

But the 6s, from built quality to raw performance and speed, to iOS, just seems an obviously better package than all other phones. While what phone is better is most likely just a personal option, no one can deny the build quality of the 6s and the fact that 1 year in, it's the fastest, most powerful phone on the market.

It also seems obvious that you are emotionally attached to this issue. You keep talking up the same numbers, ignoring that they happened in the first few weeks of Note 7 usage, and only Samsung knows how a big percentage of those batteries would be in the next few months/years.

And Samsung, a for profit organization that would love to not have to deal with massive class action suits and physical injuries of their users, issued an unprecedented recall. Companies make recalls and have policies regarding defects all the time. Apple had a lot, for example. However, letting a serious problem like this one and how Samsung is dealing with this only proves one thing, regardless of opinions:

- Samsung's quality control is disgustingly pathetic. From waterproof phones that aren't waterproof, to this.

Also, something of note (pun): Just because someone doesn't live here 24/7, it doesn't mean that those people don't have the right to talk about what they please. Apple haters that live on this suction 24/7 do not own it afterall, right? Personally, despite using Android longer than you do (much likely), understanding it better than you do (much likely), understanding way more about technologies being put in place regarding hardware than you do and so on, I have way more interest in iPhones, unless something explodes.

I know that my next phone will be an iPhone. I also used Android-only devices since my first smartphone. I also think that there are way better Android options than anything sold by Samsung. Maybe it's because I value software consistency, speed and useful features way too much.

Anyway, I hope Samsung gets hammered hard by this issue. There's no doubt in my mind that after the great s7 sales, people will remind themselves of what using Samsung really means and they will get hammered. Again.

Lol what facts am I missing here? You think Samsung is stepping up to the plate for the consumer by doing a voluntary recall. I say it's more money driven and to avoid litigation. You're a Samsung fan, great, but your emotional attachment to Samsung being some upper moral company is far from fact. There's reports by consumer reports still some retailers selling the note 7 when really there shouldn't be. Oh but that's for the good of the consumer too huh?

And again I'm not talking about Apple so please stop referencing something unrelated to my point. I don't know of any iPhone releases where there were multiple phones being on fire or exploded by charging in the first month of release.

And reading this article

http://m.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-7-recall

says just over a million sold. The 2.5 million is shipped. So 35 cases out of about a million.

Even more reason why it's absurd the China model isn't the flagship.

I know some are trying to say that this is different because the defect has the potential to cause harm which is not the same as antenna gate or bend gate and that is true. However when the S7 active was found to be defective a few months ago Samsung rectified this and replaced those devices with a problem. They didn't try to wriggle out of it and the issue didn't receive that much publicity. They could have ignored it if they wished to. So yes I think Samsung are a responsible and trust worthy company.

Whilst I don't disagree that the iPhone 6S plus is the best all round phone on the market for me a lot of people think the opposite to you. They feel that the quality of Apple's QC and software has gone down over the years. We often hear the shouts of this would never have happened if Steve Jobs were still alive.

I have an extensive Apple ecosystem (6S plus, Apple Watch, MacBook, iPad and 2 Apple TVs.) However it doesn't mean that I can't appreciate other hardware if it's good. The note 7 is a great phone, arguably the best on the market. I have an S7 edge and it's a nice phone. My 6S plus is my favourite but it doesn't mean that I can't enjoy phones made by other companies.

i also think nova needs to be updated... the unread counter on my note7 is not working for facebook..
its perfectly working on S7e... when i made a switch to note 7.. it stops working.

Aargh... More cases just arrived. How many of these frickin things did I order ??

Is any of those a Spigen Neo Hybrid by any chance? I'm thinking about ordering that one while waiting for the European launch. Just wondering it that one would be any good, as I had one on my Nexus 5 back in the day and liked it :)

No it's the official Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Clear Cover to add to the pile ...

Haha! I just love how hard the anti-Samsung crowd is working to try and make all of us who enjoy our Galaxy Ss and Notes to now hate them because of this recall. I guess they feel it's their mission to represent the soul of Steve Jobs or something like that or maybe they think Tim Cook will share Apple's ridiculous wealth with them. I don't know.

Anyhow keep going on and on because your not really changing anyone's opinion. The Note 7 owners that love their phones still love them. We'll get replacement phones and everything will be fine. I'll still be carrying a black onyx Note 7 that looks sleeker and more modern then anything Apple will introduce in a couple days.

By the way, where did you order the official screen protector? The Finnish Samsung site doesn't list that one and I've read that the 3rd party options have been less than stellar.

Ah dang, that official clear cover is the one I had my eyes on but there are no reviews out. I'd ask you how it is - but at this point are you planning to wait for the first wave of battery checked N7s or will you drop it for now?

I have a friend with a note 7 - first time I've felt a samsung product feel better in terms of quality than an iPhone. While i'd never get a note due to the size, the Note 7 felt well made and the screen was absolutely amazing, blows the iPhone out of the water. If it weren't for iMessage/Facetime/iCloud/device longevity and if Samsung made a 4 inch phone, I'd think about moving over.

I noticed the same thing, much smoother after I stopped using Nova. It still lags quite a bit, but much better. I've just resigned myself to the lagging.
