Ah dang, that official clear cover is the one I had my eyes on but there are no reviews out. I'd ask you how it is - but at this point are you planning to wait for the first wave of battery checked N7s or will you drop it for now?

I have to wait till October before Vodafone / Samsung even have stock. So I'll give myself a few weeks of thinking time and decide then whether to go ahead. :)

Aargh... More cases just arrived. How many of these frickin things did I order ??
its an omen!

Lol what facts am I missing here? You think Samsung is stepping up to the plate for the consumer by doing a voluntary recall. I say it's more money driven and to avoid litigation. You're a Samsung fan, great, but your emotional attachment to Samsung being some upper moral company is far from fact. There's reports by consumer reports still some retailers selling the note 7 when really there shouldn't be. Oh but that's for the good of the consumer too huh?

And again I'm not talking about Apple so please stop referencing something unrelated to my point. I don't know of any iPhone releases where there were multiple phones being on fire or exploded by charging in the first month of release.

And reading this article

http://m.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-7-recall

says just over a million sold. The 2.5 million is shipped. So 35 cases out of about a million.

Even more reason why it's absurd the China model isn't the flagship.
Then try to stick to the facts....you came here just to throw dirt on Samsung. We all know your stance on them...so just be honest about it.
The facts are Samsung has recalled the Note 7 immediately when the issue surfaced. They didn't try to cover it up or blame the consumer or say "your charging it wrong" :)

But i will bet if another company like say Apple had the same issue....you would probably let it go or make some excuses for them.

The facts are pretty clear........you stand more of a chance getting hit by lightning than your Note 7 battery exploding.....but agains don't let the facts get in your way.....

Samsung did the right here. They got out in front of it and recalled their new flagship phablet at a great PR and $$ cost to them. They are replacing them no questions asked....

None of those defects could melt your face during your sleep, right?

Me, personally, would never buy an iPhone previous to the 6s. They had a lot of shortcomings that were put in place by Apple, because they knew about the pent up demand for big screens and tried to make the 6 as inferior as they could, so sales didn't fall all that much in the following cycle.

But the 6s, from built quality to raw performance and speed, to iOS, just seems an obviously better package than all other phones. While what phone is better is most likely just a personal option, no one can deny the build quality of the 6s and the fact that 1 year in, it's the fastest, most powerful phone on the market.

It also seems obvious that you are emotionally attached to this issue. You keep talking up the same numbers, ignoring that they happened in the first few weeks of Note 7 usage, and only Samsung knows how a big percentage of those batteries would be in the next few months/years.

And Samsung, a for profit organization that would love to not have to deal with massive class action suits and physical injuries of their users, issued an unprecedented recall. Companies make recalls and have policies regarding defects all the time. Apple had a lot, for example. However, letting a serious problem like this one and how Samsung is dealing with this only proves one thing, regardless of opinions:

- Samsung's quality control is disgustingly pathetic. From waterproof phones that aren't waterproof, to this.

Also, something of note (pun): Just because someone doesn't live here 24/7, it doesn't mean that those people don't have the right to talk about what they please. Apple haters that live on this suction 24/7 do not own it afterall, right? Personally, despite using Android longer than you do (much likely), understanding it better than you do (much likely), understanding way more about technologies being put in place regarding hardware than you do and so on, I have way more interest in iPhones, unless something explodes.

I know that my next phone will be an iPhone. I also used Android-only devices since my first smartphone. I also think that there are way better Android options than anything sold by Samsung. Maybe it's because I value software consistency, speed and useful features way too much.

Anyway, I hope Samsung gets hammered hard by this issue. There's no doubt in my mind that after the great s7 sales, people will remind themselves of what using Samsung really means and they will get hammered. Again.

LOL...
could melt your face during your sleep, right?
right because everyone charges their phone on their face at night!

LOL.....your are entertaining to say the least! :) We know know who stole your cheese...kicked your dog and stole your girlfriend. My thinking it was Samsung! :)

Guess Im keeping my Note, looks like I would have to return all my other stuff too. Getting the Note 7, S7, S2 Classic, and TabS for around $900 is too good to pass up. Plus I'm still getting my 256gb SD card, and who knows, maybe i'll be able to get a Gear Fit with the replacement?

Those on at&t can check out this site for the details:

Why not just trade in your Note 7 for a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge temporarily?

When I went into my AT&T store I turned in my Note 7 and so did my husband. I walked out with a Galaxy S7 and a Samsung Smartcase cover and hubby walked out with a Galaxy S7 Edge and we got s $25 credit to our account for sticking with Samsung. The costs of our Note 7's were refunded to us which was only what we paid on our installments so it wasn't like we instantly got a thousand dollars back.

When the Note 7s are back in stock we can take back all the stuff we got yesterday for a refund and no restocking fee. Then get new Note 7s. All our goodies stayed with us.

I'm loving my Galaxy S7 so far. If I can't keep it by trading in my 6Splus that's on a different phone number for it, I will buy a new one and trade that for 6SPlus. I hope they just let me keep it as that would be less wasteful. I did look cross eyes at it and cuss at it when it crashed and rebooted when I was setting my mail back up, but it got set up. I spent almost 4 hours playing on it and two hours getting caught up on emails, giving the battery a massive workout and it fared admirably.

Irony of ironies the S7 got pretty warm when I was setting it up and the Note 7 never did...but the Note 7 now has the reputation as the Exploding phone. Go figure. I adore my Note 7 and miss it like crazy. I keep holding up my S7 and waiting for the iris scanner to activate. :D My husband never used his iris scanner but I used mine all the time except in bright light..then it was crap, lol. But it didn't mind my glasses at all.

I am very interested in the new iPhones when I consider the potential replacement for my 6SPlus, but I genuinely sincerely am sufficiently inconvenienced by the removal of the headphone jack enough that if it is truly gone, I can't be bothered to get another iPhone if the S7 serves me well over the next few days or weeks.

Because of Slickdeals I ordered about five for myself and two for my husband. All of our cases were $2-$4 because of Slickdeals.

Fortunately I started off with the fabulous Samsung Smart Cover for the Galaxy S7 so I won't go on a buying spree for the S7.

Can somebody explain to me how US phone contracts work? How does have more on than one line work? I see often with iPhones it's done on a two year contract but not sim free?

How does it work when people have several lines and have more than one phone? What are you paying a month? Is it like any normal ;phone contract?

They are essentially tied to the line on what we would call a 'hire purchase' agreement.

Their monthly payment is made up by 1) plan tariff and 2) monthly premiums of the phone on hire purchase.

They can use things like JOD to change phones but would either have to pay off the remaining balance on the phone or give back the handset.

People have multiple lines - which are akin to people simply having different contracts here.

Anyone in the UK got any info from Samsung yet? I got a text from CPW on Friday night saying to give Samsung's CS a call. I tried on Saturday morning but gave up after 15 mins on hold as I had plans I couldn't miss.

I called again today from work and they've now got a recorded message for Note 7 issues saying to email them. I have done this but am yet to hear anything back.

Its not too bad anyway. I just don't want to spend the time tweaking my current Note 7 to my satisfaction only to have to go through the same on the replacement handset.

I'm not clear on them myself. Each carrier has different terms. We have a family account and several different lines, each having an associated phone number and SIM card.

I currently own three phones. My iPhone 6sPlus was the one originally associated with my first phone number. I bought a sim free IPhone SE from the Apple Store and took the SIM card out of my 6S Plus and put it in my SE. My 6S Plus works only over wifi now and I can't make calls on it it do iMessage but I can do emails and use my apps.

I bought my Note7 from AT&T and my husband did, too and we opened two new lines so he could get his Note 7 for $200 instead of full price.

I have no problem switching my original AT&T sim between my two iPhones, probably because the second iPhone was never associated to any lines. My husband did cause problems switching his sim from his original phone to his new Note7 and removing that phone's sim. But he got help from AT&T to make it work.

I will keep my two lines. I did cancel my T-Mobile account for my iPad.

Anyone know if you can change colors when you swap your phone. I am wishing I got black
I talked to a TMO store and they will let me trade my black for a blue one when they get stock in two weeks or less.

I already have an S7 as part of the BOGO, and I had an S7 Edge, and really grew frustrated with it over time until it met its demise and became my first shattered phone. Thought about an active, but in the end it about the same size as a regular S7 but with a rugged case. Other then the iPhone, there really isnt another phone that interests me on at&t. So I'll just wait it out i think, too bad at&t doesnt carry the HTC 10.

So, I have been using the phone naked since the recall, since we get a do over I've wanted to see how durable it is without worry.

I think the gorilla glass debacle was over blown. So far, no scratches on the front and only a faint scratch on the back that isn't even showing up in pictures. I work in air conditioning and near the beach, so this is after trips to the attic with lots of drywall dust and sitting on rusty pans and even a small 2 ft drop (I fell asleep on the sofa with it on my chest, when I woke up it was on the floor tile).

The metal on the other hand has been disappointing. That 2ft drop resulted in a nice dent by the spen, and also chipped the paint on the other corner, not sure how that happened unless it bounced when it fell. Same drop has happened with my 6S and held up much better.

Yeah, this is my plan, for now. Initially, I didn't like the gold trim. However, with my S view case, it's hidden. Just to say, the black is still pretty nice. We'll see...

Lol...it makes a good camping companion to start the campfire :)

Yes it sure does! I'm just having a little fun. Seriously though this thing charges so fast and lasts long enough on a charge I don't need to plug it in while I sleep. It'll top off in 15 minutes in the morning when I'm getting ready.

Oculus apparently put an advisory warning telling folks to not use the Note 7 with Gear VR.
