I picked up a att s7 in April at Best Buy ($694 plus taxes but got $200 gift card for trading in old junk post paid junk phone).

Spent $850 plus taxes on the iPhone 6S plus at launch.

These phones habits are getting a little too expensive even for my tastes. I have disposable income but it's getting to the point I don't need the lastest greatest unless I can find a good sale/promo on them and resell my other phone. (I sold my 6 plus 64gb for $600 in August 2015 one month before iPhone 6S plus)

I probably get get around $400-450 for S7 at Note 7 launch time. Just not sure it's worth it.

All these phones are good these days.

I'm still very much on the fence.

I don't want another edge device, I've had three and the novelty has worn off for me. I like the aesthetics of the device with an edge screen but very much prefer the ergonomics and practicality of a flat screen in actual usage.

Iris scanner hold absolutely no interest to me and i see it as yet another kitchen sink feature just thrown into the mix. At least it will keep the heat rate sensor company in that regard.

5.7/5.8 well OK we've been there before, 6 gb ram is meh 'ok as long as we can use it but likely just another spec number for people to whore ...

Not really bothered about waterproof myself either.

So when i look at it as is, I'm not really getting the excitement it anticipation that i normally get when new flagship is announced.

Perhaps software will sway the balance, hopefully given there was little new to the pen software last year other than notes on lockscreen over the Note 4, maybe the 7 will bring more dramatic changes to the actual pen software and usefulness. But then that edge factor would still likely ruin it for me personally.

I'm really torn to want to want it and get excited for the note 7, but at the moment i feel frankly dispassionate about it ..
Honestly think I'm on the same boat

I like my edge but don't think I've used the edge features for weeks and can be annoying at times when typing.

I like scores from the left hand side but that's different to the edge panels

Right now if the iPhone 7 has the duel cameras from a cost standpoint I may sell my 6s plus and get the 7 plus

Yeah for me Samsung need to convince me on software and convince as in software I will use after the first few days of novelty have worn off.

That may sell it to me, however I found gripping my Edge devices awkward, and I had more accidental touches where didn't even realise I was touching screen and then things like scrolling a website wouldn't work or typing wouldn't register so then had to adjust my hand / grip.

So unless they have made vast in roads to stop accidental touches, and likewise have solved the reason why mankind has preferred writing and drawing in flat surfaces rather than on curved for hundreds of years, to me the Note 7 will remain at arms length.

I am not bothered about speed increase or ram increases (no-one is complaining about the S7/e being slow or ram heavy) so any CPU change is not a pull for me. Battery sure will benefit, but again I charge every night and haven't had trouble in years with a device that couldn't at least last a day, we're talking more about percentage of battery left on device before putting it on charger ...

So yeah software will be the judge here.

As for iPhone 7/7+. Well for smaller 7 to be a contender I would want to see a bigger battery, improved camera (OIS) and improved screen resolution on the regular 7. On the + model, it's going to take more than dual camera to get me to part with €969 again this year.

So in all honesty neither iPhone 7 or Note 7 looks likely to win me as it currently stands. I think I'd rather make do with the devices I have and that's a radical shift for me ....

Saw this posted on an article about the Note 7 I was reading. A lot of the specs are confirmed by @evleaks but the Snapdragon 821 might be the rumored second chip used.

It's a touch choice because the Note 7 does offer some significant upgrades. The IP68 rating is pretty sweet, the entry level model should be 64gb, and of course we will have MicroSD. Honestly I'm only going to bite if someone has a BOGO sale, then I'll sell one to subsidize the other or to buy an ip7 and have both. But at this point I highly doubt I'm just going to pay full price for one, I can be patient.

Shame they are going back to Snapdragon. That could have been a real killer spec here in the US.

I think with iPhone it depends more on what else is rumoured to arrive. It being waterproof is a nice feature if they add this.

still living hope the note 7 comes with a flat version but it seems very unlikely.

Video showing the new TouchWiz that should be on the Note 7. Looks very clean. Lovin it. Also looks like TW may actually allow icon packs. If that's the case, goodbye Nova for me.

That looks like a step in the right direction! Can't wait the N7 to come next month. If it comes with the rumored hardware and a newer more efficient TW this could be the Android phone of the year.
I just really wish they would release a flat and curved display models.

Bah you beat me to it, Macrumors had a hamster malfunction it seems. TW looks pretty darn smooth, I like some of the features like how the app drawer is organized. Nova has been grating on me recently, it's such a pain to move stuff around into tabs and folders. The main advantage with Nova has always been resizing widgets, if TW incorporates this then I'm gone too.

This is looking mighty tempting! Haven't had a note since 3 was going to get 5 but Samsung in their infinite wisdom screwed us over with that launch.

Can't tell from the video as my Itallian isn't the greatest as to whether this is Note 5 prerelease software or an unofficial rom based on leaked Note 7 software. If the same software comes to Note 5 as Note 7 it light give those who don't want an edge screen a cheaper alternative option.

The N7 is looking to be a great phone! Great hardware and software. It looks like we are seeing the evolution TW the last couple of years. Samsung has listened to it's TW critics and make a lot of improvements.

It is official prerelease beta from Samsung for the Note 5.... you can get some of the extracted APKs right here:

I wonder if that means it will be on the Note 7 AND released to the Note 5? That would be fantastic. Samsung needs to make the TW of the new model releases made available to older versions of the Note line. This could be a very good thing.

Grace UX is for sure in the plans for Note 5. If the carriers get it bloated and pushed out to Note 5 separate from and/or before Android N next year is up in the air I assume. AT&T just got MM on the Note 5 like last week? Doesn't seem to be a priority at all.

Yeah makes Note 5 seem like a decent alternative if it does see final release.

Great point about carrier updates. But would this be on the Note 7? Seems like all or some would be on TW for the new release. It does bode well if they e moving in the direction of releasing new versions of TW for older devices.

Wow, just watched the Grace UI video.

Very impressive. Very clean looking. I'm digging it. It's like a healthy mix of Android flat material design mixed with some iOS transparency. I even like the simple color coded settings menu.

So much white. Kind of like each page is a white note pad page.

Seems 3600 mAh battery has become the guesstimate from the rumour mill now, so at least you can expect similar battery to the S7e which is very very good anyway.
