And now we have the Edge's front panel. Definitely getting an iris scanner. Looks like we're getting a natural black color as well.

I like it. Bigger home button? Good. And also looks pretty nice.

I was thinking the same thing, but then I took notice of how small that space is for the Samsung branding. If it's in the final product, it'll have to be much smaller than usual. So who knows, maybe they leave it out. One can hope.

Gahh, so they still were able to stick their ugly-ass logo there. The top bezel looks the same size as the Note 5, I guess the other pics with the more narrow bezel weren't accurate, and where are the iris scanner cutouts? It looks great otherwise. Did they bring back the chrome around the home button on the black one? I thought the black on black was nice on the s7.

So crazy they feel the need to put that logo on the front and back. It looks so out of place crammed in that nice thin bezel. Them and LG....at least LG is just a symbol though.

Looks like 3 there's a cutout up top for the iris scanner, no? One for proximity, one for camera, one for iris scanner. The surrounding trim around the home button looks black to me, though the bezel itself isn't black enough--should blend better into the black of the display.

Looks like a nice interative update for Note fans...nothing here that would tempt me to use it though. I still don't like the curved edges or the backwards navigation buttons.

Honestly.. It looks really nice aesthetically, if i wanted an edge device i would get one ...

Sadly i just don't though. I already have an edge device I rarely use that also looks very pretty, but just find it often uncomfortable and impractical to actually use without hand gymnastics. So can't see any reason to swap it out for another.

At this stage there's no point me hoping the will release a normal version of the note 7 with a flat screen alongside the curved. I think that ship has sailed.

Regarding aesthetics though ... I still don't like how they put the device name/model on the back for the USA. That honestly irks me more aesthetically than the Samsung logo on the front.

Is it just me being hopeful, or do the edges seem more subtle on the Note 7?

Perhaps, hard to tell from from a render. However they are still curved edges (or edgeless) though and with an increased screen size, so they are fractionally longer either side. I'm still turned off by the prospect of accidental touches, awkwardness of gripping/holding the device whilst watching movies or content and the horror that is finding decent screen protectors. All things 3 edged devices in, i just no longer find myself wanting to deal with.

If these are the actual press renders (good chance that are), it's clear there won't be a flat version. This is the Edge version and the name on the back says Galaxy Note7, not Galaxy Note7 Edge.

Wow, this looks nice. Unfortunately this looks like we might not be getting the gold colour, but oh well, the ones we've got look great.

Looks like it. I think that they're trying to find a compromise between the flat screen design and the curved design. Not sure if it will work.

Yeah I find myself struggling to find a reason to buy it, other than the addiction we all share. It's a shame they put aesthetics over functionality.

It looks different than the previous leak, I was under the impression that the iris scanner alone needed multiple cutouts. I'm also bummed because that previous leak had a smaller top bezel with no room for logo.

I can't wait to try the Note 7. I think Samsung is evolving the edge screen technology model after model. The difference between the S6 and S7 curved screen was very noticeable with the S7 having less false touches than the S6. I think the N7 will have less false touches than the S7 as the technology evolves over time. But i still wish we had a choice of both a flat and curved screen...having options is always good! :)

The more I look at these renders, the less this makes sense. I don't get the curved screen at all. Why do you want your video and text to curve around the screen and cause distortions? And it makes even less sense on a device where supposedly the whole differentiation is to write notes and draw on a screen. How can you do this on a curved screen? How do you hold the phone easily and write with the spen in general?

This looks like gimmick over functionality as usual by Samsung. People just buying on looks without thinking about usage. Really stupid move for actual users if there is no flat version.

I think Samsung know that most Note users don't actually use their stylus much.

Aesthetics are probably a bigger sell than the S-Pen on its own. Remember the reason they chose to not release the Note 5 in Europe was because they said customers didn't use the S-Pen. So they opted to just release the Edge Plus alone.

Therefore they will likely optimise its S-Pen apps to make the main flat surface area the part you right on ... The edge part reserved for tool selection or left blank to frame content. Unless Samsung have managed to resolve why humans have primarily written on flat surfaces for thousands of years.

However given I already struggle with gripping my S7 Edge without accidental presses, I would wonder if gripping the Note and using the S-pen would require double hand dexterity.

We will know once release I guess, but like I say I imagine most users the S-Pen input is ironically lower down on the list of priorities why people would want this device (despite the 'Note' in its name).

They just want the biggest, most powerful Samsung device there is.

I have no doubt however the device will be a big success ...

It's because shiny and new will make the consumer pull out their wallet every time. The S7 edge was something new and sold very well. Functionally inferior, but shiny and new.
