Yah it's probably more sensationalized here, it's on primetime news. Just that Southwest story was major headlines, not just coverage but interviews, analysts weighing in, etc. Trust me, when it comes to blowing things out of proportion the US is the leader of the pack, and viewers eat it up like candy. We also have them released here a lot sooner, not sure when they were released in the UK so it may be less of a safety issue and more of a "hey look at all those yanks blowing up" :)
Yeah whenever I've been in the States I've always been amazed how sensationalist your news is and how most of it seems to be fear stories. It's no wonder Americans are perceived as being frightened to death of anything foreign lol. :)

It's all only temporary, AT&T has not stated they won't sell it ever again, Samsung are telling Europe that the replacement phones are fine, their haven't been any reports of them having any issues here although it's only those who pre-ordered who have them. Despite this two of the UKs operators have stopped selling and replacing it for the moment.
Give it a month and with a bit of luck it'll all be fixed or proven that the replacement phones have no issues.

One would have to wonder is the Note line destined ever to be sold in Europe again....?? At least we can buy it from eglobal or even Amazon, not the Note 7 though of course haha. I'm STILL waiting for my Note 5 gggrrrrr..... I sold my iPhone 7 within 30 seconds of putting it on eBay!

Actualy AT&T has stated they won't sell it again. They told all their corporate stores to remove all banners, and unsold devices from stock and send back to AT&T.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Lol tell me about it, I cringed last night watching the debates and am ashamed how we look around the world.

I feel for ya. South Park has it pretty right with it's names for the candidates.

I bet if the issues are all resolved they will.

It's about time they pulled the Note 7! Hell, you can't even buy one on Swappa right now! I had to put a friend out my car the other day because he has a Note 7 that he refuses to return because "it works just fine." That device is a walking bomb. It just pisses me off how people REFUSE to return it...

That's a bit extreme.

I feel for ya. South Park has it pretty right with it's names for the candidates.

Well, I am going to return mine. However, if they re-release it, I will get it. So will some of my friends. I don't believe it's dead. Tough road ahead, yes. But Samsung will get through it.

They won't. People seem to forget this isn't only costing Samsung financially but it's costing the likes of AT&T huge amounts too in dealing with customers, having to sort logistics, man hours spent and all that headaches - at a point the financial 'gain' they would have got from selling the Note 7 is utterly negated and your looking at a device that costs them more to sell than they get in return.

Likewise even if a third batch was issued, are the public going to really 'trust' Samsung a third time on this. Are carriers going to want to deal with what could be an ongoing money pit ?

The Note 7 has become untenable ...

And then consider even from Samsung perspective .. what happens if after a third launch devices begin failing.

The reputational damage will go past the Note device and spread the whole Samsung brand. It will be such a damaging contagion that it wouldn't be financially prudent for them to just cut their losses now rather than risk further contagion from this.

They won't or they wouldn't be removing all the banners and advertisements from display and shipping them back. AT&T said to the stores they aren't selling the Note 7 again.

Yeah, a part of me wonders if this phone could be a collectors item in a few years. Of course, who know if these phones could even last that long.

At my daughters birthday party yesterday a joke was made to my brother in law who was taking photos with his S7. A friend of my wife's asked if it was one of those exploding Samsung's? It got me thinking that perhaps a certain amount of public perception is damaged as not everybody hangs around on MR reading in depth articles to get reliable sources. Samsung have a fair bit of positive PR to do I think in the coming months.
It's this media hype and public ignorance that are killing Samsung, not the prospect of someone owning an exploding Note 7, which happens to be a probability of 1/42000, or 0.000024.

Of course they will, how many cars have caught fire and been recalled, or recalled for brake faults. Lots, I reckon Toyota must of had more cars recalled then sold, and what about the emissions scandle? And yet people still happily buy these cars in their thousands.
The public will forget and buy it as usual, trust me, history proves that.

Seems some are in heavy denial mode now. Why do some people want Samsung to continue damaging their reputation by persisting with this model.

That's not exactly accurate because there are so many unknown variables.

Did Samsung actually do anything to many of the 'safe' Note 7's or did they merely flash a firmware and stick a new sticker on the box.

Solve the issue and begin manufacturing a million devices and shipping them to carriers and customers in 2 weeks is simply not a realistic timeframe.

I suspect Samsung merely convinced the CSPC that the issue originally was a particular batch.

Which means the chances of it happening have to take into account the original number of reported devices, and even then we only have Samsung's word for that.

Given they tried to hush up the Kentucky incident, it's clear that you whilst you can't trust all media hysteria, neither can you trust Samsung to make an official comment and it be fully legit either.

What do you mean? Apple has had PLENTY of faulty devices over the years including Ines that catch fire, yet is their reputation damaged?
I think you lot need to step into the mind of the consumer Joe Blogs.
Yeah... Apple has had nothing like this. Nothing even close. Plenty of faulty products, but none with the risk of danger like the Note 7 has. The fact that even the replacements are unsafe puts this problem on a whole different level.

That said, Samsung will rebound. You better believe they'll never let this happen again.

The main problem is that the Note 7 is now under the microscope. So even if they do fix it, there will still be some small percentage that will catch fire, but instead of being overlooked like they have in the past, those reports will be headlines. So while I love the Note 7 and if they fixed them I might even take the plunge again, it's just going to constantly reinforce the image of catching fire with every report for the next year. It's going to be really tough for Samsung to rid themselves of this stigma considering there will always be some report somewhere of a Samsung phone catching fire.

And to reiterate, we don't know the odds of a Note 7 catching fire, only the odds of your phone having already caught fire. 5 out of a million doesn't mean that only 5 out of a million will catch fire, only that 5 out of a million have caught fire.

Is this a problem, yes. Obviously, Samsung has to make sure the next batch doesn't catch fire. However, absolutely, no Carrier store or other store like Best Buy has any problems with their Note 7s. So things are blown (no pun intended) out of proportion. Just saying that these explode is an exaggeration. Let's see what Samsung's response is.

Well, since I will return it (until it's re-released with a thorough investigation), which phone to get? The Note 5 was a great phone. However, on t-mobile, it's too expensive for a year old phone (I'm on JumpOnDemand) and resale won't be good ( in a couple of months, I may get one on Sawappa). So, I was thinking of getting either the GS7 or the GS 7 edge? With the edge, I heard a lot about false touches. Anyone care to give their opinion?

I hated the false touches on the S7 Edge, it completely ruined the experience for me. If you use a case it's better, but for me the regular S7 is the winner.

I know it's still early but....considering how great the S7 is. I can't wait for the Note 6!

Some rumors have said an early release in July?
http://www.sammobile.com/2016/03/22...red-to-arrive-in-july-with-android-n-onboard/

Rumors so far suggest
Display to be 5.8 slim bezels
32GB UFS 2.0 internal storage,
two different SoCs Snapdragon and Exynos
12-megapixel rear camera with Super OIS and same great low light camera as the S7 line.
SD Card
Wireless charging
Waterproofing (IP68 Certified)

What did I miss?

Yes. However, I have 2 phones and one is the iPhone 7 plus. It's nice but I need an android phone, too.

How is the battery life?
