I have to ask, how many of you trust Samsung now? Will you get a S8 or whatever it's called when it comes out?

I have never been a huge Samsung fan, but I think the Note 7 was one of the most beautiful devices made. I really like my iPhone 7 Jet black design too, but that glass on glass in black was just sick. I couldn't trust them though. If something like this happened with Apple, I have no idea what I would do. I think I would have to walk away. At least for a year or so.

Well, with the Note 7 I almost got my first Samsung smartphone. Now I just have useless accessories and I'm not at all convinced that I'll get another Samsung after this screw-up.

I see this happening a lot over the next several months. People are going to declare they are done with Samsung. I don't blame people.

Just curious, were you an Apple guy before you decided to get the Note and then not?

They make some of the best phones you can get so yes I will buy them again in the future. This will make them have to step up their game which will be better for consumers in the end.

I would buy another Samsung device, but then I'm mental for buying phones anyway so my actions are hardly representational :D

Just like the micro-scratches on my JB IP7 which I'm already lamenting wont stop me buying another iphone, I just won't ever buy with this 'coating' on it again.

What will stop me buying either Apple or Samsung flagships is the consistently rising European pricing which is getting too unpalapable for me in the face of fantastic handsets at 1/2 - 2/3 the cost.

I currently have both the iPhone 6s and a Nexus 5X. I've had both iPhones and Android devices for quite a while now, but the iPhone has most often been my daily driver apart from some short stints. The Note 7 sounded awesome enough to change this especially with the European iPhone prices going through the roof and the headphone jack being removed for not-that-convincing reasons. However, now the iPhone 7 is more or less the only waterproof phone I'd like to spend my money on.

My guess is something along the lines of integrating the Note line into the S line, maybe making three or four models of the S8, with a mixture of flat and edge models, ranging in size from 5 to 6 inches. Not too sure what they will do about the S Pen though.[/QUOTE]

#1. Recall All Note 7 accessories
#2. Legal settlements with 3rd part vendors case makers etc.
#3. Major Legal battle investigation Over "Safe" Note 7 Which were Not Safe
#4. Early Launch Galaxy S8
#5. Kill off NOTE Line (sad my favorite)
#6. Revive Galaxy MEGA FOr the US Market with User Replaceable Battery
#7. Partner with Major Youtubers Social Media influencers To Forget about the Note 7 and Focus on new Free Products they get shipped for Free and Unbox
#8. Disable OTA over the air All Remaining Note7's some People like Myself are Keeping them as Legal evidence As My attorney asked me todo even though Samsung offered us $10,000 to send it back and sign papers Never to sue.

Haha well not all of us can be you. It's good to hear you still have some trust in them. I don't, but I understand your loyalty. I might be same way about Apple.

Now with the micro scratches on the JB. I have don't mind them. I keep mine naked and have not seen many at all if any. It's just such an amazing looking phone. Those would never stop me from buying an iPhone. Plus rumors are it's going back to glass on glass.

I was trying to post this on the Samsung future thread, but that one was closed.

I don't think Apple will do so. They announced the ip7 the day of first recall and avoided any mention unlike Samsung in their N7 unveiling where they had a jibe at Apple.

LG have already had a dig at Samsung, and I'm sure the Chinese OEM's will play on it big time.

Yeah I think Apple is bigger then that to go after Samsung for this. Not to say they are perfect by any stretch, but they don't play this game normally. Their marketing is more about their product and how good it is. They let it speak for its self.

Yeah I think the Android OEMs see blood in the water, and this is their chance to take Samsung down even further. This could get kind of nasty soon. I can't say I feel very sorry for them either. Trying to cover it up, that just does not sit well with me. I think they have whatever they get coming. I honestly think they need some kind of punishment for this. A fined or something. They put a lot of people in danger, and did so after recalling and releasing them. That is a real shame.

I totally understand. If you have been running with Samsung for a while, this should not necessarily pull you away. I just don't like the covering up they did. I wish they had been more open, and said "hey we F'ed up again with the new batch, we are working hard to fix it". Nope they took the sweeping under the rug approach, and it might cost them even more.

Don't fool my passion for technology as loyalty. I am not loyal to any brand and never have been, whether food, wearable, or technology.

I adore technology and that's what would likely make me buy one in the future. :). I am a genuine technology lover, not hater - so regardless of manufacturer, I want to experience and enjoy the myriad of gadgets.

It's why I own every console, regardless of manufacturer, why I bought HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. Why I bought MiniDisc and Philips DCC, why I bought Laserdisc and VHS ........ My gadgetaholic stems all the way back to the ZX81.

Don't know. Perhaps because of the front page news item, normally a mod will leave a comment as to why.

Oh sorry loyalty was the wrong word . I get your tech passion. I have it too, and try almost all the new stuff. Android has not been able to pull be back in the last 4 years or so, but I am always keeping my eyes open. The Note 7 was close to doing that though. I mean to hold the thing in the hand, and looking at it. It looked amazing. Hopefully this just pushing the whole industry forward, and makes them work their asses off. Better for us.

Who knows the S8/edge/more Note like phone might be the most amazing phone we have seen. One can hope so.

I think Samsung need to make an exception here and make their findings public as for their own sakes in the smartphone market, people need to know.

BBC Radio 2 have been debating the Note 7 this afternoon and people have been phoning in with experiences of previously poor customer service, S7 owners worried because their devices get hot and an owner of a Note 7 saying he's buying an iPhone from now on. It's just a PR disaster. We've had phone stories in the past but I've never known so much publicity in such a short space in time as this.

I can't help but think if they'd handled the first recall better and fully tested the device, this story would be back page news by now.

We will never know how much Samsung knew behind closed doors. Did they genuinely think they resolved the issue with the first recall? Or did they secretly just relabel the phones and hope the cases would not continue? I really think it's the former, no company would be stupid enough to do what Samsung did on purpose. They really thought they licked the problem with the first recall, but it was more widespread than they realized.

I definitely agree that Samsung needs complete transparency here. We need to know specifically what the issue was and how they will address it in future models.

That is the recall line, if I send it in as a 2nd hand owner they will send me an 879.99 check in 10-14 business days. Originally I only paid 625 and that came with a couple case and the fast wireless charging stand

Wow, so I see that the Note 7 is officially dead, no more production or sales. I will definitely reminisce about this phone for a LONG time to come, I'll bet we will still talk about it in 5 years, and that's an eternity in this world.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Samsung should really just incorporate the Spen into the larger S8 variant, and keep the smaller variant as a cheaper alternative. Then they could really concentrate on those guys, instead of splitting themselves up over more phones.

Yep the N7 launch and its subsequent stumbles and fall will be the source of many Studies for marketing, engineering, business and design degree students for years to come.

Yep Galaxy S8-Pen I am ready for you ...

I feel kind of lucky to have held and owned a Note 7 now, lol. I can see being 90 years old and regaling my great grand children about tales of how I narrowly escaped death when I had a Note 7.

Same here, although the reason I haven't gone for them yet is the camera. While the cameras reportedly take good stills, they're quite error-prone when the subject is moving and I have two small kids, so I would have tons of blurry photos of them while my iPhone nails most of the occasions.

Otherwise they have a nice featureset including NFC (which unlike Apple Pay is actually useful over here) and increasingly often also dual-SIM (something that I just can't see Apple including). If they'll get also waterproofing, I'm starting to get really interested :)

I agree, they will be working on getting out of this hole for a while. The problem is, even if they loss the Note line will their name alone still keep people away from the S8? I mean I know people that have heard the exploding stories, but all they know is it was a Samsung phone. They have no idea it's the Note. All people will see is a new Samsung phone. Kind of hard to remove that reputation in just a few months.
