Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Atlas some reliable numbers are in, gives a MUCH better picture then all the reports and comments that have been flying around, and it's easy to see why they've evolved it and scrapped the phone too:

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/139...ny-note-7s-have-overheated-since-first-recall

Just so you know... that’s 1.9 million phones in total, including 1 million original Galaxy Note 7 units and 900,000 “replacement” Galaxy Note 7 units, both of which have suffered from reported incidents of overheating. Samsung has received 96 reports of overheating phones in the US, with 23 of those occurring after 15 September, the date of the initial recall.

The CPSC is currently investigating six reports of replacement phones overheating. To date, there have been 13 reports of burns and 47 reports of property damage due to overheating Galaxy Note 7 units.

So 23 out of 900,000 possibly, that is a high number if they were all replacement phones.

Atlas some reliable numbers are in, ...

I already posted this yesterday ;) ....

It was only a matter of time and now the CPSC officially make it a second recall ...

--------------

It's official — two days after Samsung canceled the phone, it's been recalled (again) in the United States.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a second recall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, affecting both old and new replacement models. Significantly, the CPSC statement now tells us exactly how many battery fire reports have been reported in the new Note 7 with the green battery icon.

From the CPSC statement (emphasis ours):

Samsung has received 96 reports of batteries in Note7 phones overheating in the U.S., including 23 new reports since the September 15 recall announcement. Samsung has received 13 reports of burns and 47 reports of property damage associated with Note7 phones.

So with the note 7 officially canned, is there any point of discussion left for this thread? I'm a little worried.

Well boys, it's official, Note 7, device-non-grata.

Today I heard at my airport's p.a.: "Samsung Galaxy Note 7 cannot fly." That means you cannot sell to ship, because it's officially considered a hazardous material.

If only Samsung made a public statement on exactly what went wrong with the Note 7 they would have restored at least some public confidence. Now people will be scared to get an S8.Damn it Samsung, this was the definitive phone of the year 2016.How did you get it so wrong

I wonder if folks have forgotten up till launch there were two Note 7 models, the curved which was launched and of course the flat model which was the one sighted in most of the leaks.

I wonder had the flat model been launched would it have suffered from whatever design flaw / issue the curved N7 suffered ...

If ever there was a what if scenario .... and many of us here would have preferred the flat version anyway.

----

I'm trying to decide whether to buy a cheap N5, the 32gb storage is the biggest hurdle without SD card support though. I'll likely just wait now till the S8, keep the S7 till then.

V20 isn't coming here
Pixel isn't coming here anytime soon

So not really anything in the near future worth jumping to ....

Carphone Warehouse haven't been able to refund my Note yet. It's a disaster. They're saying the original one I returned has been "returned" on the system and the replacement I should've had delivered, no longer exists for them to refund.

They don't have the 64gb model there?
The V20 didn't seem like anything special, it felt kind of clunky, though that was with security device on it.
Intrigued about the Pixel. Not worth the price IMO, but will definitely check it out in the store. But, yeah the smart thing would be to wait until the S8.

No it's not released here at all on any carrier and there is no way of buying direct from LG in Ireland either, and it's kind of pricy on import too. The Pixel and XL are going to be pricy - may get one still as relatives going over to UK at the end of the month so there is the possibility I could get them top pick one up from London or Birmingham at a CPW.

Those of you who returned your Note 7's, what did you keep? The first time we returned, we naively gave back all the stuff. This time we kept everything and even stripped the S pen out as souvenirs. AT&T just got back the phone itself.

You may get a V20? If so doesn't it still have that loop fault?
