I think the battery chances are will be 4000 as it's very unlikely it has the same battery size of the edge. Normally the note has the biggest size.

having it available right after launch is a big step up. Guessing it's available from samsung site only

The Note usually has a bigger battery because it is a bigger phone. Remember that the S7 Edge is pretty much a Plus variant of the S7, and the size difference between the S7 Edge and the Note 7 isn't that big.
Poll results: 40% of voters hate the idea of a curved Galaxy Note 7

That's a minority, but still huge. I hear that there is a Lite variant which is pretty much a bigger S7, with a flat screen.

I get your concerns but I'm guessing Samsung have looked at the sales of the S7 edge and think they need to carry on with this technology. Be interesting how curved the screen will be compared to the S7 edge

I'm surprised they didn't take note of the note 4 edge versus note 4 flat sales. I'll bet the ratio is MUCH larger of regular flat Note 4 purchases versus the edge version.

The original note edge had a limited release pattern, at least here in the UK. It was only available on one carrier months after it was released and sim free from Samsung.

Yeah I won't cry over .1 or .2mm of wasted screen, but still it will seem like less than the Note 5 to me. Most rumors I hear say 5.7", but I guess we'll find out in a few weeks. The 6s+ is just embarrassingly massive, that screen to phone ratio belongs squarely in 2012, and will be that much more embarrassing in 2016 when the iPhone 7 looks the same.

I hope I like the edge, you have much more experience with it than I do. I can't wait to get to a BB and demo one. I still think not having a flat model is a mistake and will hurt them in sales, but who knows? A lot of people complained about the Note 5 but from what I understand it sold very well. Hell I bought a couple of them, and anticipate repeating the same this year regardless of my complaints.

I might get to fondle one before August 2, keyword "might".

Exactly this. It's like the curved part of the screen is laughing at me: "Haha look, this could be nice and useful flat screen space and then you'd get to use all 5,8" of me, but instead I'm just gonna go ahead and be all curved and stupid so that you can just make out that outer part of the webpage or whatever it is you're looking at, but that part is going to look all warped and useless all for the sake of having a gimmicky feature that makes the phone seem special."

I find it massively annoying. I'd much rather have that part be black bezel and the screen area being measured including only the flat part. (I for one have no beef whatsoever with the current iPhone bezels. Sure I'd like a bigger screen to phone footprint ratio, but I don't mind at all the way the iPhone looks and I often find the bezels useful especially in horizontal mode)

Also I find that the curved part frames what's being displayed in a really poor way, to me it makes everything look just worse, it confuses the eyes and upsets the intended design of whatever one is looking at.

I dig that others like the way it looks and I'm not holding it against them, we all have our tastes and that's cool, but really I'm sad that Samsung makes this the only version of such a centerpiece of a phone series. Like someone said earlier, this time it's actually sad they don't have more versions of a phone. And if they have to go for just one, it would make much more sense to have it be the flat screen version IMO.
Curious why you label the Edge portion of the phone "gimmicky"? Do you have one? Have you used it? I use the Edge functionality daily and have become very reliant on it to quickly get to my top 10 apps and to the top 5 people I call and video call. I also like having just the Edge info on at night, while my Edge wirelessly charges.

So, is it a gimmick because you say so?

I use it daily as well, I hope Samsung allows more apps on it. As 9 could be more

I like the rss feed on it. Very useful to me.

All I'm saying is that to me it's gimmicky. I'm not claiming my opinion to be objective truth. Please note this part of my post:

I dig that others like the way it looks and I'm not holding it against them, we all have our tastes and that's cool[...]

And what I dislike is the design of the hardware. Not the software. I get that some enjoy the edge software functionality and I'm happy you do! But most of it could be implemented even without the display being physically curved. The edge info you mention using at night is of course dependent on the physical design, but that function I would assume is quite marginal in terms of how widely it's being used.

For me personally then, this software functionality itself doesn't warrant a rather significant physical design feature that I consider ruins a perfectly wonderful, flat, display, since it doesn't even require the screen to actually be curved. This for me then leaves the curved screen being mostly a gimmick: something that's just meant to make people go "Oh, neato!" and that's it, in the majority of cases.

But yeah, that's just my opinion, and I'm perhaps understandably a bit miffed since I've always loved the Note series but now there won't even be a regular flat display version of the 7. Meanwhile I don't expect the whole world to share my tastes. I use and love an Apple Watch, which half the world considers to be a gimmick through and through :)

That's a lot of sensors showing. Will not be pretty on the lighter colors.

The TGSP makers have their work cut our for them, literally :)

Based on those sensors, for sure a prototype that didn't make it to production. They were thinking about it until the sales numbers for the flat S7 came in :)
