He decompiled the leaked firmware for the Note 7
To quote here --

I'm attaching his attachments here as well ... all credit goes to malbert16442 on XDA.

Yeah so it's essentially confirming what we know now. 3,500 mAh and exynos for Europe just like S7/S7e and presumably USA will have 820.

Other than s-Pen, iris scanner and new grace UX if you have an S7e (or even S7) it doesn't represent a worthwhile upgrade, but for anyone on last years S6/6e/Note 4/5 it's a very decent upgrade.

That leak from XDA also confirms Gorilla Glass 5. If true that will be very nice. I've run my Notes naked since my Note 4 and have yet to see any scratch or blemish on my screen, or even on the back of my Note 5. I wonder if the back glass will be GG5 as well.

Even in the case of having the last year's devices, it would probably be better to get the S7e / S7 to save some dough. Ugh I don't know what I'm going to do ...

Pros -
S-Pen / Bigger Screen / Grace UX / UFS

Cons -
Same specs as S7 / Significantly more expensive /

I don't think Gorilla Glass 5 was confirmed, it was just mentioned ... unless I missed something.

No based on the leaks the note doesn't seem worth the extra money as I've never really used the s-pen. If there are any suprises next week I'll be able to return it and get the note. Yes I've got a glass one on there at the moment but I don't know how long I'll keep it on for as it's annoying me already.

So if latest rumors are true and the international Version will have Exnyos 8890 with 4GB Ram and 3500mAH, i will keep my S7 edge and wait for next years S8.

If it will have Exynos 8893 with 6GB Ram and 3600mAH i will sell my S7 Edge and buy Note 7.

Easy decision :D

Totally underwhelmed by this phone. I liked it when the Note was the ultimate Samsung device with all the bells and whistles. Now it's just a flagship Samsung phone with a pen. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Options are nice but, meh.

Yeah I see that on closer inspection, just in the list of rumors.

I agree, but there is no other phone out there with the awesome screen to body ratio this has, well other than the S7 edge which I wouldn't blame anyone without a need for the spen if they chose it. There are other phones I've considered, some for half the price or even less, but they all seem to have a compromise in one way or another. I like carrying around the biggest screen in the smallest package and won't go back to monstrosities like the 6p or iphone 6s+. Is that worth $900? No probably not, and I'm the first one to admit it, but I'll still spend the extra money to get that level of comfort. I also have more faith in Samsung's camera more than anyone else except maybe Nokia or Apple, having kids pictures/movies are ultra important to me. Plus the IP68 is really nice, I can see using that quite a bit.

Enjoy. Sold my S7 Edge today for €410 :( a €389 deterioration in price I paid at launch. Hey ho.
I'm actually shocked at how bad the phone market is where you live. The S7E is still going for $800/900 CAD where I live. Could it just be a lack of demand in your specific market?

They are in the low to mid $500's US on swappa, with a sprinkling of listings under $500 even.

Don't expect much to change. MRU and I have had our fair share of Edge problems, so we both moved on from ours. Hope you enjoy it. I wouldn't even think about the Note 7 and move on. I would prepare to move to a S8 or S8 Edge this time next year if you want another upgrade. I am overall impressed with the regular S7 specs wise. The Edge was just a bigger battery and display. The Curves were nice, but I never used them much to make it worthwhile. Only checked sports scores. Never have my phone faced down, so didn't get the cool display light up for calls.

I would be hesitant to upgrade from a Note 5 to a 7. My dad and cousin have Note 5s. Both got them earlier this year. The Note 5 has 4GB of RAM, an Exynos processor, QHD screen, S-Pen, will get the grace UX. A Snapdragon is a downgrade in terms of efficiency. You can't beat the Exynos efficiency with Samsung products when using a Samsung product (common sense nevertheless). All you have is the Iris Scanner, so that will be a guinea pig pilot program for the S8 and Note 8. If it's the S6/S6E/Note 4 or even earlier, go have fun and enjoy!

The ZTE Axon Pro and OP3 makes spending $800 unnecessary. People expected me to get the Note 7 here because I always try out the latest phone. Not this time. I saw the writing on the wall last week with specs being downgraded. So I walked away $300 more in my pocket through going with the S7 regular.

The regular S7 is too small for me. I have to have a phablet. So it's the S7 edge or note 7. Even if I don't use the edge display I need the real estate.

If that's the case, then S7 Edge it is. I think it's worth it over the Note 5 if the price difference is minute. Water resistance, SD slot, Android 6.0 (guaranteed on the Edge), bigger battery, etc.

We can't get the note 5 in Europe without importing it. I probably would have gotten the note 5/ S6 edge plus last year if it had an SD card slot. I guess Samsung have made all the right moves this year.

Oh right, Samsung with their geographically flub makes it an expensive cost.

Out of curiosity, how does one go about getting an international device in the USA (around release day)?

I saw BH Photo offers the international S7 / S7E for sale on their site... but it's ~ 4-5 months since the S7 came out

I've purchased from http://www.expansys-usa.com/ in the past, but it's been a few years. Not sure what their availability is on a launch of a new device.

I'm not even sure I wanna upgrade from my Note 5 to it, as of now..

My reasons:

- I don't shower / swim with my phone and I'm sure the N5 will withstand an occasional splash.. Heck I didn't even test the S7 for water resistance.

- Curved display is eh..

- External / removable card would be nice, but between using iPhones, Nexuses, and Note 5... the desire has somewhat diminished to it being a trivial issue. Nonetheless, a removable battery would be a great incentive for me ( wishful thinking..I know! )

- The extended battery life might be worth considering...will wait and see how that pans out.

- Hardly use the S-Pen, and when I do... it's just fine!

- TW is a non-issue since I almost always use Nova Prime.

- The Note 5's camera is pretty decent, and I don't really use the camera much anyhow.

- 64GB Storage works for me, especially after getting Dropbox Premium ( American Express promo, cost me $15 for 3 years )

- AOD ( Always On Display ) I have it turned off on my S7, it's more of an annoyance (and battery drain) to me!

- Never liked the edge screens (always felt too slick) so the Note 7's rumored edge screen is somewhat of a turn off.

- Iris scanner..eh.. I don't even use the fingerprint scanner on Androids.

Other than a possible significant battery boost, I'm not really feeling the upcoming Note.

I do hope Samsung pleasantly surprises me though!!

I think based on rumoured n7 hardware, given your usage and personal preferences there would be very little reason to change. Your exynos Note 5 is still a top phone at the end of the day.
