a better place
That's likely bogus. The practicalities of a device (where its main selling point and differentiator in the market) is its pen input, (hence the Note name/brand) and the act of physically writing on a curved surface just doesn't work.

It was why they had to treat the Note edge as two physically independent screens and force all input areas of apps into the flat single area, resigning the curve to an independent secondary features area.

As inventive as Samsung are; I doubt they have solved a genuine practicality issue for scribes that has existed since man began writing.

Samsung makes this available in uk please don't be idiots again

Seriously though

6GB ram
Bigger battery
All the specs S7 has
Even better s pen?

This is going to be awesome. I might just get this and forget about S7 edge

Surely us in the UK will not be forgotten? Any rumours on this?

Edit looks like all sources say note 6 will launch in uk

Why is 32GB a huge fail? It also has a SD Card slot (up to 200GB) for expandable storage. Apps can be installed and moved to external storage. Same can be done with music video and pictures. I don't see the issue myself.
Certainly isn't an issue if you can move everything to SD card

If you only move certain apps? That's when it's a problem

If anything Samsung are saving people money

I'm looking forward to this. I'll probably end up selling my iPhone 6+ and getting up with the Note 6 or Galaxy S7 Edge (that curved screen makes the phone look very sexy, but the Note specs are so drool worthy).

Still have my Note 3 rocking FireKat ROM and it's incredibly fast. I'd move back to my Note, but it's too much work to move everything from iOS to Android once more. The iPhone 7 leaks that we've seen haven't appealed to me very much. The iPhone 7s, on the other hand, might shape up to be an interesting phone.

I think you can move almost all apps to the sd card. Then of course music and photos can be moved there. But then you can add a 200Gb sd card....so as I said i don't know why 32Gb would be a fail. But they should release 64 and 128GB too imho.
Then for goodness sakes release it in the UK :)

All reports saying it will be available in uk

They are ditching the edge plus

makes sense huh? They don't need the edge plus with the N6 or s7 edge.
Yep, to be honest Samsung not releasing note 5 here last year really annoyed me it's a big reason why I didn't bother with them last year

Do love what they are doing so far though. Listening to customers at least

iPhone still going to be my daily driver but I think based on rumours I'm more likely to get note 6 then iPhone 7

Will wait till the big one in 2017

I think it's a long shot as well. The Note series is more of an executive phone, and the curved edge design IMO doesn't really have much useful function. If anything it creates touch issues as well. While I think curved screens are interesting, I'm really hoping the N6 doesn't have them.

we are all just guessing that it will stay the same size with larger screen/smaller bezels, but no one knows for sure if they are keeping the same size. Although from a hardware perspective it makes sense, they don't have to retool their factories as much if they are using the same shell as the Note 5. 4000mah makes me sad because no way the phone will be thinner, but I've grown a new appreciation for battery life. The NOte 5 battery life is less than optimal, and lately I've been using a lot of wireless tethering which really chomps the battery life down. So I would take more battery for sure.

My prediction, they keep the exact same Note 5 casing but slim down the bezels and are able to squeeze in the larger battery. We'll see minor changes such as adding microsd to the sim slot, and trim changes like getting rid of the chrome accents on the home button among others. But otherwise I'll bet it will look pretty similar to a Note 5. I'm not yet convinced it will be a worthy upgrade, but nonetheless I'll be first in line with my wallet out as I am every year.

I hope that stick to the flat display or similar to the Note 5. I don't want a curved display in the Note 6
I'm kinda leaning the same way. Love the S7 Edge, but trying to hold it and not touching the sides is getting annoying. Looks awesome though. I'm hoping maybe they can reduce the curve enough to make it easier to hold, but keep enough of it to still give that 3D look.

They already tried the edge display on the Note Edge last year. I don't think they will make another model like that again. It's pretty obvious that they are leaving the edge panel for the S model now.

I still have my Note Edge but I don't use it as much anymore. Trying to use the S Pen near the edge panel was annoying as it would always slip off.

So you have first hand experience with curved display and the spen. Thanks for the input. I really hope they stick to a flat display or just like the N5. Can't wait for the Note 6!

Just makes zero sense to have a note edge and a s edge.

Yep, if they were to go Edge-only for the Note, I'd be out. I wouldn't event need to think about SPen operation.

I know this is against popular opinion but whilst edge models look nice on the billboards, they are less nice in practical use in my experience.

Too many spurious touches (the prime reason I skipped the S7e) and distorted colours/text when viewing content. I don't find the Edge software features compelling either.

2.5D glass is as curved as I need on the front.

I'd rather not have a curved note but going through all my notes, I notice I hardly go near edges anyway, so I'd still get one :)

Reports are a curved note might be what they choose as Samsung see it as more marketable and are looking to S7 edge as to why with its success

The issue with the curved screen is touch rejection, especially with one handed use. When I use my Note 5 I often find my touches don't respond because the edges are registering my hand, which is squeezing a bit because I'm reaching my finger over. If I get this on a non curved screen like the Note 5 I can only imagine how bad it will be with a curved screen.

Off topic, but anyone else peeved at Samsungs one handed mode on the Note 5 versus the Note 4? The soft keys don't stay with the reduced screen anymore so if using it one handed with the left hand you still have to reach all the way across to hit the back button, defeating the whole purpose. Kind of idiotic IMO. I hope they address things like this with the Note 6.

Any chance Samsung might debut a new form of the physical home button with the Note 6? Perhaps something like what HTC has done in the HTC 10?

That would be nice. Maybe something like the Nexus 6P and Huawei phones do. The FP/home button doesn't need to be pushed per se to unlock the phone. It scans the FP and unlocks without having to be pushed in.

Yep. They can and should get ahead of Apple on this front.

Even better? Screen technology that'll read finger prints so that it can just be part of the lower part of the actual screen. Then have on-screen software buttons for Home, Back, App Switcher. And that way, Samsung can let users pick which side they want the back button on. Also, even less bezel and better form factor (screen to body ratio).

That would be awesome to see. No home/FP button but a small part of the screen that can be both. I don't why Samsung can't make the capacitive button switchable now. It can't be that hard a thing to do. Most other vendors like Huawei will let you switch the software buttons in any order you want them to be in.
