Why the hell does samsung have so many freaking tablets? It's going to be beyond confusing for your average tablet buyer.

I do like the looks of it though. I didn't think I would at first.

Phew, let me take a breath!

I was not planning to spend as much time at BB as I did and this was just with the 8.4", 1 hour and it was fun :)

Here is the comparison chart, not sure it is perfectly accurate.

Right off the bat I started with my favorite youtube video for PQ and AQ, a sample of Planet Earth by Robert Revol . Both bested the Pro 8.4" easily. The color and clarity was outstanding. And you get two speakers on the S on the top and bottom sides which easily made a noticeable difference.

The RAM with 9 tabs opened sat at 2.17. This obviously will be different dependent on what one is utilizing.

You get the side sync feature and finger scanner as well. And more storage space versus the Pro 8.4".

I did lots of browsing and flipping between open tabs. Really no lag at all to tell the truth. I could not try a game because you have to add your Google account to download and I didn't want to do that.

The Samsung Rep was pretty and friendly but she did not get a preorder out of me, I'm not that easy. Beside, I need to look at the larger model next go around.

More later. Time for lunch.

We are entering into the times where android tablets have started exceeding ipad. By 2015, all flagship android tablets will exceed ipad in nearly all fields.

Because most of their Tablets share common parts with other tablets. So it's actually a pretty good marketing plan. Keep flooding the market with Sammy products and become the major player in a market segment. When you think of Android you think of Samsung. Google has a hard time competing with them.

If the Next Note has these specs as we know they will can't wait. As having a note 3 and 12.2 my screen on my note 8.0 is bad on comparison

It's been rumored for the better part of a year.

If there is NO announcement at the Google I/O meeting this month then there won't be another Nexus tablet. It appears there won't be a Nexus 6 phone and Google has started their Silver program for devices.

I think Goggle gave it a good effort but Samsung is too strong to compete against their products. I'm still holding out hope we may get an announcement later this month but I won't be disappointed if nothing is announced as it will confirm the Nexus product line is being terminated.

Thanks for this review, looks like a noticeable upgrade on the S line.

Same soc as the tab 10.1 pro, smaller battery. Not that better of a screen. I'll keep my 10.1 pro.

I'm starting to come around to this line of thinking. I want an 8" tablet and thought that iPad was a clear choice. After comparing the iPad and the 8.4" Note, I've narrowed it down to.............

The Tab S 8.4" and the Nexus 8

So many of you are leaving or in favor for Samsung. So sad... Apple is losing again... :apple:

I agreed with you.... Samsung tablets are confusing me. Tab then Note now S..Maybe Samsung is not able to kill Apple iPad so they make new tablet? :apple:

Every single Category Samsung has ventured into has had the same strategy... saturate the category multiple models to give the impression of a household name and that strategy has worked well for them. Just go down the list where they now dominate or hold a large market share compared to say 10 years before introduction where others dominated.

TVs
Large Appliances
P&S Cameras
Mobile Phones

What they are doing with tablets is no different.

Tab Lite
Tab Kids
Tab
Tab Pro
Note
Note Pro
Tab S

I think it is confusing to us because we are putting the "old" models with new ones (since we kept up with every announcement). To the general public when they go into any shops, only the TabPro / NotePro are being actively marketed/available. When the Tab S come out, I think the TabPro 10 and 8 inch will be phased out. And when they samsung announce the amoled version of the note then notepro will be gone as well.

Unlike apple which sticks with yearly renewal which is not the norm, many other products get renewed every 6-9 months.

Thread carefully, no doubt nice specs on the S series but that does not necessarily equate to high performance and Apple has done it better in the past with lower RAM besides.

I'd have agreed had I not just bought the Samsung Pro 8.4 last week (with the Best Buy deal, it was $230 accounting for the $50 gift card I got with it). The lag I normally associate with Samsung tablets is mostly gone. I said mostly because of their fancy pants "Magazine UX" was causing lag since it was set to poll from a lot of sources. I quickly fixed that installing Nova launcher. Battery life is decent as well.

A bit surprising to say, but I now prefer this over the iPad. It's the same old song, sick of Safari keeps reloading browser tabs. This 8.4" screen is beautiful, a bit sharper than the retina Mini but much deeper colors, and this is not even the AMOLED screen that's on the new S series. The Exynos chip is not as fast or efficient than the Snapdragon 800 though.

The price of the 8.4 Pro is alluring. I might have kept it when I first bought it if that was the price but I am not touching the S 8.4 for $399.

I got a 32 GB AIR when it was on sale at BB and an open box return. Cost me just a bit more than the 16GB model.

Seeing TabPRO 12" 32GB Wi-Fi for $440 in Europe now. I think I will forget about AMOLED and Note.

Clearance, so I ordered, as I would not want to pay full price for a 12" Note S and I have wanted a bigger tablet for years, enough waiting.

I can get a 12" Note S after it has dropped in price, and hand this one down then.
