Very happy with it so it is a keeper and the price was right making this well worth it for me personally. I haven't touched my Air since I got the S.
I love this thing and with Verizon I installed messenger so I can text all my friends while on the couch with it.youtube now can stream to my tv and I downloaded a movie torrent and blasted that to my tv while sitting there texting my friends.I love this thing and for 299(with trade in)is a steal!
I am about to root it to clock it like the Korean galaxy s5,that phone has this same exact soc in it and its clocked at 2.1 ghz and the gpu is clocked at 695mhz vs 533 in our tablet.just imagine how fast that phones runs.
I just did a 400 sunspider bench on the tablet lol
There still can be black bars but they are much much smaller and many videos will have no black bars at all, you also get .8" more of screen size!
You won't notice a difference in resolution but you will see a huge difference in the colors, I have played with the tab s a few times at Best Buy and going from the Tab S to any other screen is not nice, the colors look so muted.
with a resolution of 2k display movie will look brighter but if a movie is about 720p i dont think there will be much different unless u get a movie format of 1080p,2k or even 4k format than there will be big difference ... correct me if i am wrong
Well I've finally got it setup the way i like and I'm impressed the screen on this is superb, best screen I've seen to date on a tablet.
Coming from a Nexus 7 & stock android it isn't as smooth as that, there is some noticeable lag at first "WHEN" you first switch it on from new, but once you get everything setup properly it nearly 99% lag free, there is the odd stutter here and there but nothing that going to spoil anything, it still needs abit of polishing which will come i think with future updates.
Didn't need to update it neither as it already came with the latest update on, so it not a launch batch of a few weeks ago, build also is perfect on mine no noticeable defects.
Some have been moaning about it taking forever to charge, well I've not bothered unpacking the charger in the box,just using my S5 charger and it seem to charge quick enough, took just over a couple of hours to charge from 16%.
Is it better than an iPad Mini Retina?... most definitely I find iPads while they get the job done, just to boring i like the fact i can customize it the way i like and not how Apple likes it to be.

I just picked up my 10.5" 32gb white version today. I have to say the screen in bloody amazing. I also have an ipad air in the family and the screen difference is huge. I loaded up Nova launcher and it runs like a dream. I can see my MBA getting much less use now 
I hope I don't spoil your fun. Overheating issues with Tab S devices. I really think they should use their own software and develop TIZEN... (IMHO, nothing beats both in-house software and hardware development)

Had a play with a 10" in store, one word LAG, i know it was not set up and a launcher would help but going from it to a iPad air was like cutting through wood v butter.
Wouldn't mind a 8.4" but $479 in Australia is a rip off, typical Samsung couple of months they will be $379 or less.
The heating issue is a worry.
