Taken from this review and this is the slower clocked exynos version not the full 1.8 clocked she version

Real-life usage seemed to reflect the benchmarks in this sense, as well, although we felt that the Exynos version held a slight advantage over the Snapdragon. If you recall, we noted in our GS4 review that the T-Mobile unit we used suffered from some visible lagging and stuttering when Samsung's smart features and motion gestures were activated, although it was smooth sailing as soon as we turned them off. Fortunately, we couldn't replicate the same problems on the I9500

.......Aside from this, however, the two devices fared almost identically when put side by side in various scenarios ranging from light everyday tasks up to graphic-intensive games.

FFS i have plenty of first-hand experience with the octo-core, NO LAG and touchwiz in full glory.

Battery is the best ive seen in a phone, 7hrs on screen time at 3X% with 1 day and 1X hrs standby and NO wifi time all on 3G.

Seems the quadcore version is the one with 'problems'.

Except the quad core one has no lag anymore...

Completely overblown issue

Thanks for your "review". Why the anger? FFS??? Keyboard warriors are not popular here.

I was simply citing Engadget which is a decent review site. Who would someone chose? Angry, anonymous, arriviste on this forum or a site with a reasonable reputation.

Engadget is a decent review site and reputable ?

Keyboard warrior ? What ? Have you never seen people use "FFS" to express how tired they are of reading the same bs over and over ?

I rather trust real users experience than any review site, specially the ones that still claim iphones get 10hrs of browse time among other bs :)

No it's not close to a15 at all and every report I read said the exynos s4 did not have the lag the snap dragon does

I don't know which report is that, I have tested them side by side and the one was zipping along while s4 was stuttering like it was on its last legs.

The "Octo core" is also a quad core in reality. Don't fall for the marketing.

Isn't the word Octa means 8?... And Quad means 4?... Can you explain how can 8 Cores is the same as 4 Cores?

Because they have dual quad core processors in the phone. 1 quad core set to do things while the other quad core does other things. Its not a true 8 core single processor, its all marketing.

There are two clusters of quad core processors.

At no point EVER are there both clusters operating together.

You have one set of fast quad core and one slower less powerful quad core set. The device will use whichever it needs to use based on the power requirements of the process at hand.

But again at no stage are both sets of processors operating together. Its either one or the other, and always ... quad core.

So yes it's really quad (big.little) but for marketing they are calling it octo core - but its not octo core at all. Octo-core traditionally would imply the 8 cores work together, this is not the case with big.little architecture.

Because at any given time, one of the quad core sets (a7 or a15) is activated.

All eight cores never work at the same time, they aren't even designed to.

The "octa" is a marketing term used by Samsung to make it more attractive. At any time, the phone is still a quad core, you are either using a slower quad core or a faster quad core depending on which app you are.

Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I find review sites to all be BS. They all have their bias for a brand. Just reading articles on Engadget and The Verge, you can clearly feel their Apple bias. I no longer bother with reviews for things like phones, TVs, cars, etc.. I give these things a test run for myself and buy what I like. I never thought I'd get a phone bigger than 4 inches. But now I'm the very happy owner of a 4+ inch phone. I won't say which one as to influence anyone. But I'll say the one handed experience Apple keep marketing is a big mistake for them. Once you get to experience the clarity and quality of today's larger display...a majority of user won't go back to a smaller display. If SJ were still alive, I wonder if the iPhone would still be stuck on 3.5 inches. He had that kind of ego.

There may be perceived bias with various/most review sites, but I still prefer it to many anonymous reviewers posting on sites like this one.

So many of the reviews of these posters are essentially "purchase validation" posts, making them feel better about what they purchased.

The "enthusiasm" with which a few people post their opinions verges on the semi-psychotic, investing their phone with the attributes of a family member.

Agreed. Most of the bashing (especially the hyper bashing / hating) and the 'mine is better than yours' tit for tat seems to equally come from the same 'purchase validation' and insecurity....

The blind assumption that the posters 'small world' is somehow representative of a whole and the justification based on a small group (all my friends have - my grandma has - my house mates have) is somehow indicative of the whole can get very tiresome too.

There are a number of posters here who seem to thrive on irrational hatred and hyperbole - if I was a new reader to this forum and unaware of who these posters were - I certainly wouldn't trust a lot of the user reviews here as it could be very misleading.

Generally I look at Engadget, Verge and Anandtech for reviews. I don't trust any solely, but you can get a reasonable overview from all of them combined.

My carrier is not att or tmobile

I would not get the AT&T one in this case then.
It comes with a locked bootloader which reduces your chance of a bug free stock android image from the google edition port in case you want it.

If the bootloader is cracked, then this becomes a non-issue (or if you just prefer TW and will be happy not flashing etc)
