Have you tried this GE ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356276

I've been using it for quite a while now and with Faux's kernel, I was able to achieve over 6 hours of screen time. I reflashed the ROM and have been using the stock kernel since last week. This is what I was able to achieve...

That was at about 75% brightness and on Unicom 3G for about 5 hours.

I haven't tried that one but will do so ... Thanks :)

Thx!

How bright is your screen?

I put the One on autobrightness. Usually 25-50% is efficent enough for me in the day with 25% brightness during the night. I do keep that Google Location Services turned ON just because I use BlinkFeed and the weather widget on top will say "No Location" if off. I have a Live Wallpaper with the HTC wallpaper slide show on.

Speaking of wallpaper, do you have a black theme or use black backgrounds? Helps on AMOLED. Also how is standby time? I read the S4 is much better than the One with standby. I heard Project Road Runner can help improve on 4.3 standby but I havent even got 4.2 yet! Android AND Sense really do drain batt when doing nothing. How much batt do u lose overnight?

And no battery savers? I hate those things. I tried JuiceDefender and didnt like it. Then I tried Deep Sleep Saver only to realize it was doing thousands of wakelocks on my One. Only for placebo effect. I even uninstalled it from my Nexus after using it for years. I didnt know abt wakelocks until this year. Seems airplane mode does a better job than battery savers when it comes to screen on time and standby times.

I have auto brightness on during the day at +3 level..and switch auto off at night and have it at about 30% brightness.

my background is the boat in the water S4 wallpaper...the standby time is generally good. when at home overnight my % will drop about 6-7% in a 7-8 hour period and thats with ESPN notifications and twitter notifications going on during the night.

when the NBA season starts I reckon standby time won't be as good as I will get loads of notifications. guess it depends what notifications you get.

Yes you can JR, remember that you can swipe the quick toggle bar to reveal further icons, I have set my "hot spot" so that it is visible when I first reveal the notification bar.

This is what I wanted to know. Thanks!

But how do you add icons? The hotspot one isn't on my list and I can't figure out how to add it?

You can try doing a 2 finger pull down instead of 1 when u try to pull down the notification. Doing so will pull down the full list of toggles instead of notifications and u can try to re order them from there maybe?

Edit: are u on Verizon or AT&T? It seems some of the US telcos decided to remove some toggles and the only way to get them seems to be rooting and modding them or flash a rom that has them...

Ya what I'm trying to say is the tether toggle isn't there on the full list. So how did Dave get it there?

I'm on AT&T....that would be garbage if they did...

Appearantly they removed it in one of their updates for some reason...

So after a full charge and a reboot 4.2.2 GE seems to be behaving battery wise. Fingers crossed. I want to feel I can get a day without worrying about a charge, if I can get that I'll be happy :)

Does anyone have a problem with their phone getting hot while on phone calls? Mine got very hot on calls, even ones under 5 minutes.

Yeah mine gets quite warm too. Battery widget tells me it gets upto to 35 degrees at times.

Battery is going steady now on 4.2.2 :) off battery at 7:30am this morning, number of calls, always in my Spigen S-View pouch (god I love S-View), took some photos at the beach, listened to an hour of music via Bluetooth headphones.. And its 3:00pm now and I've 84% left. Very happy now finally :) :)

Dang....maybe I should get into this rooting business. I don't really have the need for really good battery life, but I got to the end of the day yesterday and had about 38% left, 15 hours of life / roughly 3 hours on screen. Both HTC One and iPhone 5 are better (at least had been for me).

Also irritated about the lack of a tethering toggle and the fact that the status bar is only transparent for Samsung wallpapers.

I do really like the phone though :D

Yeah I did find battery on the one better too. (Well more consistent anyway).

As for Samsung wallpaper - transparent notification / status bar. The latest update here for Touchwiz fixed that allowing any wallpaper (live included) to be used. :) check you have the latest version in Kies.

Its actually something I miss on the google rom.

Ah I don't have Kies installed. Is there no OTA way to check for updates?

Edit: Ya - installing a big update now. Last time I checked the att server got hung up.

Damnit - I'm right there with you.....just bought the standard GS4 from AT&T on Friday....when's this thing going to be out?

It's a terribly ambiguous article lol

the traditional i9505 international (S600) does not have lte bands for the US (quite sure)
Will this device follow suit??

I'd rather have full cellular support than the S800

I doubt S800 will ever make it to Google Play Edition so I'm still torn.
