So my HTC One sold unexpectedly on eBay this morning for $465! Now I'm scrambling to find a GS4 for around the same price that I can buy and get here so I'm not without a phone for too long!

Excited to give Samsung a try =)

I tried the first CM 10.2 for 4.3 and it was not very smooth for me. Hopefully they get the remaining issues worked out. Did you lose root when you flashed? What recovery are you running? What super user app are you using on 4.3?
Thanks sorry for all the questions.....

nope everything is working great here. root was still there, twrp 2.5.0.2, the superuser that comes with CM no app.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
Anyone else noticed that android device manager has been pushed to their phone.

You can check by going to

Settings > More > Security > Device Administrators

You should be able to check mark it and If you have any other security apps like cerberus, it can be found their as well.

I decided to move back to the S4 from the HTC One. Don't get me wrong, the One was a great phone, but the camera was horrible and I don't like that HTC still doesn't have a timetable for an update to 4.2.2 or 4.3. Maybe that will come with the Verizon release but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Anybody have any battery saving tips for a new s4 user on stock TW?

i don't mean to be glib in the slightest, but 2nd battery.

:edit:
the spare battery is sold with a charging case, so it's always easy to charge and carry a spare battery on you. i just love it when my battery is nearing the end and i just pop in the spare and it jumps back to full. i'd buy it directly from amazon, though. i've heard of 3rd party sellers selling imitation/fakes.

Yep it's a great piece of kit...you should never worry about battery life when carrying a spare kit with you. you basically have 2 days worth of use available.

Got my s4 back in may, coming from an iPhone 5 there was alot to learn. Its been lots of ups and down. I havent rooted, been using nova launcher and my homescreens almost looks like the iPhones. Not many widgets I care about, dont see the point in many of them. Sure its nice having my calendar but with the new ios7 I can just pull it down and I see today and/ or tomorrows appointments.

The screen has been great exept in direct sunlight but I can live with that. Swipe has been awesome but havent seen any direct improvment in speed, its just more "natural" kind of typing on a screen. 5 inch is great but for my part the 4 inch was enough, I like my phones abit smaller even tho I use em for pretty much everything. Its my chat, camera, social, music, calendar, phone thingy. It does it all. I barely use my mac. I did take a look at the s4 mini, great size but dident like the speccs.

One thins that really distrubs me is headphone sound. It just dont sound as good as my iphone. Ive tried all the sizes that come with the S4, if I use my iPhone headphones it sounds great, but then the volume rocker dont work, very distrurbing. Anyone know if HTC one´s headphones sounds more like on iPhone?

I do some gaming and I like achivments, thats great on ios with gamecenter. On android it just got started with google play but very few games so far.

I guess what I was looking for was a mix of phone, tablet, computer and S4 is closer to that then the iPhone. Its things like sharing files, torrents, utorrent remote that makes it feel more like a PC.

Why I write this? well im just a casual smartphone user, I gladly share my experience.

I upgraded to the s4 this morning. Just setting everything up now. So far I like what I see. Seems to be a big improvement on my note.

I'm an iPhone 5 owner, but if I ever wanna switch to android I would choose Samsung. They have proven to support their phones with latest updates in a rather timely fashion. The GS2 is still getting support for example. Thumbs up for Samsung.:D

Picked up an S4 on Tmobile Wednesday night and have been enjoying it so far.

I did the iPhone 4S -> Nexus 4 -> S4 route, and each step has been an improvement. Stock Android is great on a tablet, but for some reason on a phone I kept getting annoyed by things that were missing. For all the **** Samsung catches for changing their phones around they do make a lot of changes I would consider improvements (especially in the Bluetooth department). Aside from the really funky settings menu I'm pretty happy with the S4+Nova.

I wouldn't bet on that ;)

I get to use an upgrade to buy one brand new - made a little money off the whole transaction so I'm starting off happy :p

To be quite honest, I'll probably be perfectly content with the GS4. Android doesn't set my world on fire, but they're nice phones. I'm excited to try something new.

I'll be doing my best to keep the thing stock TouchWiz. I want to experience Samsung in the fullest.

I hope you know that I do have nothing against you, just like to tease around a bit with you ;).

I would really appreciate a thread similar to couch's HTC One thread when you get your S4.

Hehe I know. No worries!

I'd be happy to share my thoughts on the device - especially in comparison with the HTC One (which I really did enjoy and will miss).

Because I get to get the GS4 at upgrade pricing, I'll be able to pick up a Samsung flip view cover and 64 GB SD card - which will make the experience a bit better I imagine!

So I've set everything up just need to sort out my SD card. So far I'm very impressed.

It's very fast, faster than my note ever was. This morning I was downloading a software update, downloading a HD movie, my apps were downloading in the background and I was streaming HD video on YouTube/ web browsing simultaneously and it didn't slow down at all.

very light. I'm amazed at the slim profile. My OH has the s3 and it's much lighter despite having a bigger screen.

charging is quick

battery life seems to be a lot better than my note

The screen is gorgeous

4G won't go live for another week but my hspa+ Download speeds have more than doubled when compared to what I get on my note.

These are my general observations. So far.

i was really disturbed by overheating issues and all the lags, but the recent two software updates have solved all these problems, and now i love this phone, it's really fast and fluid, definitely the best phone from samsung.

So can someone confirm this for me?

Here's the scenario:

My mother-in-law has an upgrade available on her AT&T account.

I am on my own AT&T account, without an upgrade.

I'd rather not involve her because she's not terribly knowledgeable about this stuff and I'm an authorized user on her account.

I want to purchase a smartphone using her upgrade WITHOUT activating it so she doesn't lose any service. She currently has an iPhone 5 and I'm purchasing a GS4.

I sold my HTC so I currently have an active SIM card sitting on my desk - I'd just like to pop it into the GS4 and go. Is this feasible?

Well, I'm back on to GE 4.2.2 to see if battery life is improved over the 4.3 GE Rom which was very poor battery despite otherwise being great.

I'm getting quite good at this flashing business.... ;) :D

Are you on the international variant of the GS4 or the GPE?
I understand the full conversion from Touchwiz to GPE is not possible on the GS4 (a full conversion is possible on the HTC One- like even gets OTA updates from google). So you are actually flashing a packaged rom rather than the actual vanilla GPE image right?

Sorry for the Q's I've been weighing buying a used TW GS4 vs an actual GPE GS4 (new, not much of a used market on these). I'm not interested in touchwiz and want stock android. I'm wondering if it's worth the headache for saving a couple hundred bucks.

At first I was like wow this so small compared to my note but I', getting used to it now and coming to appreciate how easy it is to hold and how much more portable it is. Also as my note was getting more and more laggy I was using my ipod touch more and more so was getting used to the smaller screen again.

I've been playing around with my S4 more and more and it is rather awsome. Perhaps I'll finally get the full android experience.
