Which are you using and hows your battery / screen on time ?

I'm still on the older 4.2.2 GE ROM. Waiting for the Dev to update to 4.3.

The screenshot is from the other day with about 5 hour on screen time.

If you want to go back to TW, I suggest cleanrom, which is just debloated TW with some tweaks. The Task AOKP Rom is good, but I think it's for the US variant only.

Which version / rom of the GE ? I don't mind 4.2.2 as 4.3 offers very little difference between the two, and I'd rather stay on stock android as long as I can get the extra battery life ... :)

I'll check out clean rom too though.

OK so I'm back to Samsung stock touchwiz and the difference in battery life is remarkable. I'm at 80% now after being off charger 12 hours. Whereas on Google ROM it was flat after 10!.....

So I JUST found out you traded your One for a GS4. I've thought about doing the same....

Impressions? Worth it, or just changed because you wanted to try something new?

Its grand! As I had one before I must say I preferred the white version over the black mist I have now.

Will I keep the S4 ? Yes, but for how long ? That's the real question.

Still not enamoured by Touchwiz, but like the battery life. I like stock android for the most part - though still require the likes of Nova to add basic functionality.

If I could have Sense 5 on the S4 hardware (mostly camera) I'd be happier, but hey ho. If anyone asks me what I think of the S4 I just say 'it's alright'..... It just doesn't have me enthused, but its easier to flash roms than the One and the camera is so much better. I'll probably keep my Z10 as my texting and phone call handset, and use the S4 for apps and camera....

I'm trying the black wallpaper trick to see if it improves battery life any. It probably won't, but it doesn't look half bad on the screen. The icons really pop on the screen.

Cool - the camera and hardware are what have me intrigued. Trying to decide if finagling a trade is worth it or if I should just wait for the GS5 next year when I have an upgrade available.

I tried that but made little difference for me.

I'm at 14h 53mins on battery with 70% left .. Screen On Time is 1h 38mins.

Touchwiz clearly has some decent power saving settings compared to the AOSP 4.3 based rom where I would go from 100 to 5% with only 2h screen on time in 8 hours.

If you find someone willing to trade as I did then you don't really lose anything and you'll at least have experienced them both. You can always trade again later if its not to your liking :)

I would likely need to actively search for someone to trade with. Don't know if it's worth the time :p

Lol. Fair enough :D

Ha, I'll throw it out on Facebook and see if anyone bites. My HTC has a few nicks on the corners. Nothing major, but not pristine.

I would really like to try out the GS4 - and would prefer even more to check out the GE, but I think giving Samsung's software a chance is overdue.

If not the GS4, I'll be picking up a GS5 next year barring some crazy, unforseen development.

Just got myself a GS4. Coming from a Galaxy Nexus, this phone feels smaller in hand, even though it has a larger screen. Having used mostly stock-ish Android phones, I'm getting used to Touchwiz. I have only had it for 2 days, but I cannot yet understand why Touchwiz gets a lot of hate. I think some of the gimmicky features will actually turn out useful in time.

Liking the phone so far.Feels good in hand, but feels fragile.

Biggest bummer as of now - no lock screen widgets if you have security set. What was Samsung thinking?

yeah doesn't make sense to me either. I love the camera in stock TW. Just enable voice control then just say "shoot" and it snaps the picture without having to touch the screen.

I just started back up again with my S4. Going to use it as my daily driver and see how long I can handle the stock software. I'm not going to root or mod it in anyway... Only things I will use to customize are widgets and other customizations that come with the phone. Wish me luck!

The voice control is working rather inconsistently me. The first time I say "shoot", it works. But not the second time immediately after . But if I say "cheese" after using "shoot" , it works. It's almost like I have to use a different command every time.

hmmmm I take multiple shots by just saying shoot and it works for me....
But I don't say it too close together....maybe that is it?

loving it, although it was a bit laggy first, but after these recent software patches, it's snappier than ever. great phone, highly recommended. :D

Right. My service provider is allowing me to upgrade early of I transfer to an LTE tariff. At the moment the network has a handful of LTE capable phones and if I go for the early upgrade it would be between the S4 and the HTC one.

I like the look of the HTC One, but I've heard that the camera isn't very good. Also I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a removable battery or SD card. At the moment I have a galaxy note so am familiar with touch wiz and samsung. My note has quite a bit of lag, it freezes a lot, gets very hot and the battery life is quite poor. If I get the S4 I want to know that if there is any lag, that it is bearable. I don't mind a little but not as much as is on my note. I also need the battery life to be good enough for me to actually use the phone comfortably during the day, I.e listening to music, some web browsing and watching some videos.

Also how is the audio quality on this phone?

I got an iPod touch because my note was too laggy and the battery life was too poor to use it as an MP3 player but ideally I'd like to be able to carry just one device.

running first CM10.2 official nightly for my carrier, great so far!
I tried the first CM 10.2 for 4.3 and it was not very smooth for me. Hopefully they get the remaining issues worked out. Did you lose root when you flashed? What recovery are you running? What super user app are you using on 4.3?
Thanks sorry for all the questions.....
